I just completed the short ram air intake on my 95 240sx, the installation that requires you to remove the stock battery and relocate it. I have a battery in the trunk for my stereo so this wasn't a problem. After I finished doing the intake, I now have a very irradic idle problem. The idle goes from about 800RPM to 200RPM and almost dies and eventually it does. I adjusted the idle screw all the way tight and it still happens. Now after I drive the car for more than 5 minutes the idle problem corrects itself and it idles perfectly fine. After I turn the car off and start it back up, it'll come back..and go away quicker (the idle problem). I cleaned the throttle body before I installed the new intake, and all the hoses are hooked up (valve cover hose to the intake, the big hose from the Throttle body is capped with a mini breather, and the little "vaccuum" hose is just open air, since it's the fuel breather hose.

Has anyone ever come across this problem? Will it eventually go away? What should I do? :ughug:

throttle body is the part where the air intake goes into the engine. To clean it, you must remove the entire air intake assembly from the throttle body and spray it down with throttle body cleaner....

I had this same issue when doing my custom short ram as well just a few weeks ago. I too tried using a breather filter on the vaccum pipe under the TB as well......no can do my friend. Apparently the flow thru that tube is very sensitive and with that filter on, it choked it not letting it run right. I used the T fitting that came with my Injen intake (which I used for the custom job by the way) and routed it to the intake and to the breather atop the valvecover......runs great!!

I just sealed off that pipe with a vaccuum plug and it runs fine now. Thanks everyone for your help!!

HEY NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON :(!!!! The car kills when I first try to start it but if I give it a rev and hold it for a few seconds, it'll hold the idle afterwards. Maybe I should adjust the idle higher???/

And as I stated before you might want to route that vaccum into the intake....mine runs just fine....
