I just got a Hero 3 black for Christmas and was looking for a thread about setups, I didn't find what I was looking for so I am asking for mounting locations, video settings used, etc... post videos you took or pictures of your setup if you have them.

Maybe this thread is useless, I don't expect it to be very long, but any info you have would be appreciated, thanks!

Edit: This is intended for those filming drifting or other motorsports driving, not skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, etc.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, but it is for drifting/tracking specifically so I figured here is best.

does the hero 3 come with a wifi-backpack? i need one for my hero 2. for now, i either mount it on the windshield (inside of course) slightly below the mirror for fwd facing videos and i stick it via the suction cup slightly behind me to my left on the exterior of the car when i want to take video from behind my car. that suction cup holds to at least 126mph btw... lol

I just recieved an LCD display for my GP2 from my girl on Christmas. It makes shooting/aiming to capture your footage a breeze...

I just got a GP2 Motorsport edition for Xmas and im looking to get accessories for it but what do you guys think is more useful the wifi backpack to use on my iphone or the lcd back screen??

I am gonna use mine for skateboarding too, but I am familiar with filming skating already. I got an LCD back screen too because I hate not being able to see what I filmed.

And I don't have videos yet, so I can't post any :-/

Hero3 doesnt have a wifi backpack since its already built into the camera.

I thought about getting the LCD display but after they made the Iphone App for it, there's really no need for the display since you can use your phone to see what the camera is seeing and do playbacks.

Wifibackpack because you can live view it thru your iphone. Only thing is it has a 1-2 second delay. Eventually, GoPro's plan is to let you post your videos/shots straight online from the camera.

I just got my Hero2 for Christmas too, just been playing with it and learning all the options in the last 2 weeks. Last camera I got and did some shots with was an old Contour Camera. Knoop has a pretty nifty vid he posted up a couple weeks ago.

I just got a Black Edition for Christmas as well. Now I'm about to pick up a new computer to do some editing of the footage I will be grabbing from the Little Rock Arkansas area, as well as the Traction Optional events.

Its more like a 5 second delay,...and I just figured this out too,..but you can actually watch your vids you just recorded with the backpac. Not so much on the iphone app.

I'll prolly end up postin in here a bunch BC. I got one for santa-day too....lol

that wind vein with a little damping/stabilization would be badass.

as for angles, it's hard to get it right and depends on what you're doing. i definitely prefer filming/being filmed from the sidelines
