Looking at buying a set of wheels off of a user here:

However, I have these:

So since I can't test fit the wheels, how do I make sure that these wheels will clear my brakes? My plans are to run a simple 10mm spacer at maximum. I would like to run no spacer if possible...........

I think they will fit but just barely. If i'm not mistaken I thought you had to use the STI brembos with evo rotors?

Incorrect.

After hearing back from TF and talking with a gentleman over there, it specifically states for mounting WORK wheels on EVOS that nothing less than an 18" wheel should be used....so my guess is they won't fit judging by that information.

Evo mr wheels are 17x8+35 so it might fit, or u might need a spacer

Depends on spoke design
15mm spacer

It's actually really easy to figure out with a good ruler and some patience. To find the clearance, do the following:

Mount the brake caliper to the spindle of the car along with the rotor (not totally needed, but you can) and tighten them down enough that they're not going to move. From here, measure the difference between the wheel mounting surface and the outermost (the part that would hit the wheel first) point of the caliper and record that distance. Then take the measurement from the center of the spindle (axis of rotation) to the outermost point on the caliper to get the caliper's effective radius, then take a second measurement from the spindle to the point that would have hit the wheel first, **more on this measurement later.

From there, you should be able to figure out the effective 'shape' of the caliper as seen by the inner wheel. Ask the seller to measure the wheels smallest ID at on the mounting side and the distance from the wheels mounting pad to it's next inner most surface. From here, you should be able to compare the two measurements and see if 1) your brakes will physically fit inside of the barrel's diameter, and 2) if they will clear the face without hitting anything.

** the measurement from the spindle to the outermost point of the caliper is good for wheels with curved spokes on the inside, this helps to let you know if the caliper nests in the spokes or not.

you will need 5mm-10mm to clear the caliper

All depends on the face. If that happens to be the BBK face, then itll clear big brakes. All you can really do is measure the back spacing.

I didn't think i was too wrong with my post
