I know some people have posted that they have a metal sound in their fuel tanks, like somthing is rolling around in there. There have been speculations, and some people have said it was their fuel pump. I also have that sound, so I went and checked it out for myself yesterday. Pulled out the pump and inspected it, everything was kosher. Looked down into the tank, but couldn't really see anything wrong. So I reached in and sloshed my hand around the gas, reaching around.
I discovered that a piece of the baffle inside the tank had broken off on one end and it was kind of swinging back and forth on just the last corner that was attached. It's a bit down there, so I couldn't see if I could fix it with something. I'm not sure if this really hurts performance, (at least I haven't noticed anything) but that was my discovery.
