Hi everyone
My bone stock (but recently tuned) 90 240sx with KA24E is doing a few odd things. First off when the car starts in the morning after sitting overnight (or for a few hours) it sounds horrible, like a truck engine. This is usually because all the oil drains from the head and it takes a few seconds to get lubed again. Is this very common, and is there anything I can do to help prevent/eliminate it?
Next when I put the car into gear to leave, it will sometimes get this really bad vibration almost like I'm lugging the engine (but revs are high?). Clutching and revving then re-engaging usually "solves" the problem. But I've also noticed this same (or similar) thing during highway driving in 5th gear around 3-4k rpms, where it feels like I'm lugging the engine. A quick downshift to 4th then back up to 5th seems to "solve" the issue, and the engine runs smooth. I can feel the vibration through the shifter and in the pedals.
Occasionally while driving the car seems to bog, ever so slightly. And it seems that if I lift off the throttle then go back to WOT the car will pull with its normal amount of power. Like it has a bad TPS or dirty MAF.
What are some common things that would cause these issues? I just bought the car a week or so ago, and I don't know it's full history, but from what I've seen the car just went through a tuneup, as it has new wires/plugs/coolant/oil/air filter.
Also, is there a "tune up FAQ" or something I can read that will give me a bunch of maintenance type stuff to do when a 240 KA24E has 200k+ miles on it?
TIA!
