Hey Guys!!
So here's the deal. After having my lifted 99 4runner up for months someone finally came to make with a trade and I just did it. I traded for a 1991 240sx with a blacktop sr20 swap in it. I know about subarus but dont know anything about 240's. Everything about it is awesome except it does not have heat. It was a summer car for him and he never needed it. The person I traded with did not do the swap but said the previous owner did not hook up the heat with the new motor. SO... im asking for any help as to where to start to hook this thing up. I have the heat controller itself out of the car and I believe thats about it. Thanks for any help at all!!!!

should be two water hoses on the back left side of the engine. they are supposed to run to the firewall where your heater core inlet and outlet is. if it's not connected to the firewall then your houses are probably joined together instead to bypass the heater core.
check to see if you even have a heater core in place. should be two plastic pieces sticking out of the firewall on the middle left side.

is there any reason why someone would not hook the heat back up? just no need for it, or does the sr20 not hook up to the existing harness or something.

Heater core could be leaking or have blockage. Or it might be gone altogether. Or maybe he just didn't feel like getting hoses.

The guy I bought my s14 said the same thing. But I half of my hvac box is missing and I got quoted 500 to repair it lol I'm going to try to find a spare at a junkyard and figure out how to do it myself... Good luck weather in Cali is probably better than yours so I can't complain

a 240 in Massachusetts winter is death. i lived in worcester for 5 years and it snows pretty darn hard.
pm me if you have any questions on the issue.
worse case scenario is replacing the heater core which requires removing the dash for the most part.

FRSport sells the heater hose kit for SR swaps. For the heater core, the dash doesn't need to come out to change it.

Take pix of what you DO have. It'll make it a lot easier for us to tell you what you need.
Most likely you can source a complete heater setup from someone parting a car out for I'd say under $100.

Good thing you got the heater core. New ones are easily as much as a aftermarket radiator for some stupid reason.

Nope. As I understand it, it's behind the dashboard.
The radiator looking thing in front of the actual radiator is the AC condenser, not the heater core.

new oem heater cores go for like $200 new... its stupid
and the heater core is located under the dash by the glovebox kind of. if youre missing the plastic vent pieces that channel air, i'd go to the local junkyard and start pulling stuff out. wouldnt hurt to get a control panel either.
