The car's build up will be featured in upcoming issues of Performance Auto & Sound Magazine (www.pasmag.com). It is also the same car that was on the Tuner Transformation television show (-and NO, they did not do ANY of the work except the paintjob). I'd like to thank all of you who helped me along the way with my noob questions. I'm so glad that I can finally enjoy my car.

Nice car

"OMG! 5 LUG, 5 LUG" your best quote :)

Mikey
03-25-2004, 03:22 PM
Yes I agree - the show is extremely gay.

Mikey
03-25-2004, 03:24 PM
Its wasn't me that OMG 5-lug, 5-lug...it was the host that was pointing at it. I already knew about it before they unveiled it to me.

Glad to see that you took the spoiler off. Good thing your car didn't end up with some gay vinyl like claw marks or something. Those guys on that show seem like they have no clue whats going on.

The show is horrible...definitely not something for a true automotive enthusiast.

So did you get to pick what you wanted done to it?

i dig the wheels

Mikey

I got all the stuff through my magazine - through my contacts and my own pocket. I told them what I was doing and they asked to put it on the show. I didn't know they were going to pretend that they did all the work though.

I thought I recognized that car... now I know where I saw it before. :D

Good job taking the wing off. I agree with Noke on the wheels, they also don't do anything for me. The grille doesn't either, but that's just me. Looks pretty nice otherwise. Good job.

I asked for other wheels from Work, but they are really pushing the Kai right now. Same with the Grill, Chargespeed wanted me to have the ENTIRE kit.

Hmm I like the wheels. Just think they should be wider and/or lower offsets, and your car lower. Looks good though, different and not ugly :) Never saw the show.

looks hot! I love the sunk face on the rear wheels
very nice car!

definitely go lower :D

Mikey
03-25-2004, 05:48 PM
Yeah...I am definitely going to lower the car futher, but the roads here in Toronto are still pretty bad. When the weather warms up, I'll be dropping it a little lower.

Thats kinda bs that they make it look like they are doing the stuff to the car and picking out what is going to be on it. It's also bs that the parts are not coming from them.

Car looks weird... :ugh:

Mikey
03-25-2004, 06:15 PM
Well, its television...most of the stuff is bs. But I believe my case is unique because of the cross-promotion with our magazine.

Least you can say that they didn't do it for ya.

not feeling the front bumper at all! that psuedo GTR grill is just ugly and looks tacked on . also the way the gauges are mounted on the dash looks very last minute, and quote" I am not taking the time to get a proper gauge pod or panel and mount these things right" attitude . Its one thing to have a single boost gauge mounted right on your steering column its another to have a line of gauges mounts bare mount right to the top part of the dash . IMHO.
Wheels could be good but the ribs stick to far out and if the car is used on the street would be subject to curbage . ouch :(
All in all it looks very professionally done except for the minor details I was pointing out . To each his own though if you are happy with it thats all that counts.

God I hate you for betting me, I am duplicating Charge Speed car my self. I had the body kit seating in my basement for over 3 month waiting to be put on then I saw your car with the same kit on TV. That ruined my day then I realized I live in GA and there is no chance crossing each other. Anyway my car will be going to a body ship next week.

nice car mang! pretty thorough. Now like Toreto said, "It's not how you stand next to your car, it's how you drift it."

many props on your car. i'd like to say its near flawless, i dont like how the gauges are positioned though, but its my opinion, so who gives a fuck.

anyways, very nice.

yea, i would have to agree that that show is very gay. just out of curiosity were those the wheels they gave you on the show?

that show was pretty damn lame, but congrats on getting it the way you want it.
so is it true it "handled like a pig?"

HOT SHIT! ahaha I dont like the hood or grill though but color and everything else looks good. Keep it up dude.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not a fan of the grill either. Just to re-itereate, the show did not give me anything except for the bodywork and paintjob. I, along with the magazine contacts, put all of the products together.

Also, I'm not too fond of the gauge setup either. But, there are no pods around that accomodate the Defi BF Series - they are quite large. But they don't bother me too much as they are off to the side.

looks to me like an overbuilt car with a fairly stock motor.
it it mainly going to be a showcar?
don't get me wrong.. i can appreciate the stuff that's done to the car and i like alot of it.. but it has the feel of a carpet queen.
Also, powdercoat the valve cover.. it looks WAY out of place. if it was an otherwise stock looking car, i'd say leave it, but with that paint and a black engine bay, it screams 'I'M WEIRD'. heheh

Also, take it back to the bodyshop who did the paint and have the realign your fenders, etc. I dig Silvia front ends, but when they're done sloppily it doesn't look right.
Overall, I like your car.. nice wheels, nice coilovers... brakes could be a little bigger. R33 GTR brakes would've been a better choice, i think. oh, and install those front turnsignals! :D

Overall I really like your car! Keep us updated with future performance mods :)

Mikey

I also think that the red-top stands out too much. I was already planning on powerdercoating the valve cover. In regards to the car being over-built for the stock motor, I totally get that feeling too. But there's only so much money I can dump in at one time. I a few months I plan to finish the rest: turbo upgrade, intake/exhaust manifolds, cams and valvetrain, fuel system, engine management, seats, harnesses, steering wheel, etc.
