OK i need some help trying to figure out why my car wont start. I already searched but couldnt find anything that really helps me out.
I had a blown head gasket and before i replaced it the car would run, it would smoke a lot and then stop when it got heated up. Before i pulled my head i tried starting it and it wouldnt stay running. It would idle really low around 500 rpm for a few seconds then it would stall.
I pulled my head took it in to get tested and it turned it out my head was warped. It wasnt to bad so they decked it and its fine. I put the motor back together, i made sure the cam sprockets and idler sprocket alligned with the marks on the chain. I changed the oil, fuel filter as well. Its all put back together and it still doesnt start. It turns over and it started and ran around 500 rpm for a few seconds than it stalls. It did that for a few tries and now it just turns over and doesnt start at all.
I thought it might be something with the distributor cap but I am getting spark.
i am getting fuel as well.
if you have any ideas please let me know.
thanks
simon

check and see if TDC is lined up with the distributor firing on cylinder #1.. or maybe you should recheck the cams positions

the thing is that it was doing this before i took the motor apart. I had BHG and it was still running, then all of the sudden it stopped running. It would start but idle really low and die after a few seconds. I thought it might be a clogged fuel filter. but i am getting fuel. I changed the Spark Plugs. Is it possible that the cap and rotor are bad even if i am still getting spark at the plug? Thanks for the suggestions though im going to go mess around with it after work today.
