Alright, here's the deal. I'm doing a marketing research project which is due on...oh Monday. The teacher wanted us to pick a potential product or service that we want to do research on and submit a report. So I've decided to make my product or service a shop located in Northern California that caters to SR20DET owners all over the US and especially California. My report is to show how much of a demand there is for the SR20DET to be emissions legal and how well the motor swaps can sell and how well the shop's business will do. I know Motorex is working on it right now, but we all can't wait that long. So with the information I can obtain and such, hopefully it'll be sufficient for me to do my report.
I need to issue a survey for everyone to take so I'll actually have surveyed results to go with my research. I would REALLY, GREATLY appreciate it if you guys can take the time to answer my survey. Regardless of location or anything, you can take it. Please give me SERIOUS answers because this will be vital to my grade. If you don't want to post up your answers on the board and you'd like to keep them confidential, please e-mail them to me at
[email protected] Thank you very much! My goal is to have at least 20 people to answer this. If I get more, that would be even BETTER. Thanks a lot guys! I just don't want to fail another class, ya'll know how it is.
Just copy and paste the stuff below and answer each question the best you can. Don't worry about writing a lot, just write as much as you feel you need to. Most of them are very short answered questions. Wish me luck!

3. About your car: 1996 Nissan 2wd truck. D21 hardbody.

4. Yearly income: Below $30,000
-Below $30,000
-$30,000-$100,000
-$100,000-$500,000+
5. What brands of aftermarket parts do you purchase or plan to?:
Anything cheap. Dynomax exhaust. Bosch especially. Wires, plugs, 02 sensors. Imperial electric fans.
6. What modifications have you done to your car or would like to do?:
Custom PVC intake, 2" exhaust from manifold to tailpipe. Electric fan. Bosch platinum +4 spark plugs, Bosch 8mm wires.
7. Out of the three, which concerns you more when purchasing an aftermarket part?: Price, performance, then looks.
-Price
-Looks
-Performance
8. Does your area or state have strict emission laws (no engines outside from the US, no off-road turbo kits, exhaust, intake, etc)? No restrictions whatsoever for Flagstaff. My hometown of Coeur d' Alene Idaho doesn't have restrictions either, if that helps.
9. Would you perfer the KA24 engine (stock 240SX engine) or the SR20DET (Japan-spec Silvia, 180SX engine)?: It depends on what car I would be using the engine in. I would prefer the stock KA for a truck. (Torque capacity and little motor strain.)
If I had a small car, like the 71 Toyota Corolla I'm planning to get, I would much rather have the SR20DET for obvious hp gains, and because turbos are exceptionally nice in the top end.
10. If you were to own a 240SX with an SR20DET, would it be difficult for you to find replacement parts for that engine? If so, which would be the most common part that people would need to replace?:
I doubt it. I imagine the most common replacement part would be 02 sensors or other small items. The engine, from what I know, is fairly sound with few mechanical problems. Cooling issues might arise in hotter climates, although that can easily be solved by anyone with a little ingenuity.
11. Is your car?: Naturally aspirated. Turbos and Superchargers are ok, Nitrous sucks ass and is for losers who can't build a decent engine. Exception is strictly drag cars.
-Natually aspirated (all motor)
-Turbocharged
-Bottle fed (Nitrous)
