I was told that the Exedy triple plate clutch that I ordered will not work if I place the VQ transmission onto the SR. Does anyone have any info into this subject? I would prefer input from people who have actually tried this and not just people giving there uneducated opinion. I only ask, because I want to make sure I didn't just spend a bunch of money on something that won't work. Thanks guys.

Marvin,

I know for a fact that the VQ/SR/VG all use the same spline count/diameter on the transmission input shaft, so that area shouldn't be a concern.

Did the person that told you "it wouldn't work" give you any educated information as to why?

They work at a shop, but they said they ran into the problem before. I'm calling the shop today to see exactly what the issue was and I will get back to you.

I do not think his shop is referring to the spine as being the problem. Jr_ssy you are right about the size and spine count. But I think the shop is referring to the thickness of the triple plates cladding the bell housing of the z32 transmission

If you have both a SR and VQ transmission, measure the length of the splines on the input shaft and see if they are different. You should be able to ask the manfg if having splines x amount shorter will keep the clutch from working.

Who gives a fuck if the clutch is thicker? You make up for it by getting thinner TOB and shorter carrier.

Carrier too. The funny thing about it is, almost all clutch companies out there uses OEM nissan carriers. Nissan actually has 3 different thickness carriers.

this is all good information. I just bought a triple plate Exedy clutch and didn't know about the throw out bearing and carrier.

Does the Exedy triple plate clutch work fine with the stock slave cylinder too?

What's pedal feel like?

Should feel close to stock, multiple plate clutches doesnt have super stiff pressure plates but itll be suuuuuper touchy.
