Are there any shops that do motor swaps (SR20DET) in Texas? I Live in Dallas and am trying to find a place to do a swap and arent having any luck so far. Any suggestions would be much thanked.

ProTech in Austin does them. I've heard good things and bad things... All I know if the guys working the counter aren't very friendly...

I live in irving, and I know about boost factor, that was their old name until they almost go sued by the original boost factor in CAL. They are now called Car Tunes. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend NOT going to them, the guys there can do swaps but expect it to be very very sloppy. They talk big...they can get the parts but dont be suprise if the parts are stolen. I have talk to MANY people that got their cars done there, and none of them are happy with their swap. One person had to take it back to them 6 times before they got the swap right. While others find out that some of their parts are cheaply installed and broke fairly easy. If you want it done right I highly recommend JOTECH in Garland, TX but they cost an arm and a leg, but your guaranty almost 100% that the swap is down right. Bttom line DONT GO TO BOOST FACTOR aka CAR TUNES.

Does Jotech have a website I've heard about them and cannot find anything about them on the internet besides they hold the world record for a drag civic.

kenny tran is the OWNER of jotech
edit:whoops, didn't mean to hit send, anyways, i don't know how busy the shop is now that they are sponsored by quaker state in import drag racing, they are a good shop, although all ive heard about is thier work on hondas, their website is down recently. i have personal experience with alamo autosports, they have a website but dont really update it much, go visit a company anyways if you are planning on doing business with them. alamo does a great job, but they are a good shop, lots of customers, understand that your car is not the only car that they will be working on, and also understand that you are paying for expertise, if you aren't planning on doing the work yourself, then expect to pay quite a bit at any reputable shop. also, powerhouse racing is really good, although they deal more with higher end cars, if you pay them the money, they'll do the work for you. a good friend of the family gets a lot of his work done by powerhouse, they are good guys.

Anyone got a phone # so i can call'em up?
I think most of the people here in Austin do their own swaps. However there is Japanese Specialist, the shop SPL parts sells stuff out of, they do mostly Z work but I've heard they're good. You could call them and see if they could help you. Also you could go over to Texasracingscene.com and ask them about shops. Don't stay there too long though or you'll be saying stuff like Who is Mike Jones?

There is also CTC Motorsports (http://shopctc.site.yahoo.net/index.html) if you are shopping around.
Any reason you aren't doing it yourself?

Oh, well then Projectsilvia.com (www.projectnissan.com) is my first recommendation for parts. I am not sure if he does sr20 engines any more, but give him a call/email and see what he has.

Wasabi Racing is CTCMotorsports now. I called them and they answered "Wasabi Racing, can i help you?" At first i was like WTF? But then I realized they just changed their name. If you call the # from the CTC Motorsports website it will be the same as Wasabi. I bought a couple of items from them. They got it to me fast. They specialize in the EVO and Suby now.
scott
Wasabi was down here in shreveport with some hot ass models and an 11 second wrx and a stock STI. CTC motorsports? Wasabi has a seperate site of their own, and the numbers match? Crazy shite. Bump for shops that do swaps.
Yup, same numbers

I am dealing with Sammy exclusively at Cartunes. So far none of the parts I have were stolen LOL! I dont know what they have done in the past but he is pretty knowledgable from what I can tell. If you think his swaps are bad, you should have seen the black S13 he just got finished rebuilding. Custom manifold made by them, custom T61 turbo, ported head, etc.... and best of all the final product was looked AWESOME!! I think if you give the guy a week to do your swap, because a lot of people I've seen have, sure it may not look the best. He did a friend of mine's car for about 3 weeks and it looked great when he got it back. Bottom line is, if you cant wait for a shop to do the install beautifully themselves, then you should do it like I am. The only thing I have to complain about is the waiting on parts. But that is Greddy's backordered parts fault!!! Furthermore, his prices were the best in Texas! He even matched most of the items I found on the internet. He was far cheaper than Project Silvia and since I was spending a but load of money he worked with me even further on price, which Project Silvia would not do. Sammy is also going to have a guy who worked for Haltech for several years tune my car as well. Can you name me any other shop in Texas that has the real APEXI Tuning Service? Only on the coast will you find that! Once my car is finished we will see what you think of them.

spdfreek0o, this thread was a year old when you bumped it. Please pay attention to post dates in the future and do not revive dead threads. Thank you.
