View Full Version : I Can't Make a Choice Between a '97 Civic or a '98 240SX LE

As of right now I have a choice to buy either a red '97 Civic 2 door EX or a '98 240SX black LE. Both have excellent miles on them and are in great conditions. My problem is that I cant decide on which I should buy? Should go with style and trendiness (Civic) or should I go with stealth and power(240SX)? Civics have many parts available at cheap costs but everybody as one? The parts available for the 240SX are kinda of expensive because most are Japanese Companies, but they are of great quality and actual make your car faster, not just look fast. Image is everything so I dont know if i should go with looking fast or actualy being able to go fast? I need someone to please give some reasons on why I should by the 240SX instead of the Civic. PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P. !!!!!

If ya need to ask that question you shouldnt buy a 240!. Just kidding man, well I would hate to drive something everyone has. More parts avialible means more people will have same setups as you. 240sx unique , beautiful, decent amount of power, RWD

"Image is everything so I dont know if i should go with looking fast or actualy being able to go fast?" You won't look too good in that civic when someone in a 240 beats your ass
Are you building a show car or something to race in? I'd never go back to FWD now that I have a 240. I'd say just test drive them both and which ever one you like most, buy. Thats what I did...
(BTW I never test drove a civic, I wanted a sports car)

I see 200 civics every day. I see 5 s14's a month. In the Washington DC, area I see more Type-r's, or even 911 Carrera turbos than s14's (not kidding) . I would be full of it if I said that having unique car that I could afford was not a big factor in my decision.

i dunno what you're talking about with "image".
240sx + turbo = no one will be able to see anything but your pretty tail lights.......

Honestly, look at it this way. With the 98 it might still be in the factory warrantee. Do you know how rare the 98 240sx is? Werent only like 8000 made for the US that year? There are companies that make turbo's etc, just like honda, but not as many. In the looks department, the 240 is a lot better, and if you plan on doing any "racing" with your buddies, the RWD is nice for the twisites.

man, i didn't even consider a civic to be an option when i was looking for my 240. ur on a zivia board, but even if i had a different car, i'd still say to buy the 240.

*point*
most people with non-vtec civics swap the engine for power reasons..that should tell u alittle about potential.....a ka-t is so much better then a #### d-series w/ turbo!

Stealth and power. Get a 240SX. Civics are easy to tune, but when you mention you drive a fixed up Civic, people will just either frown or look at you weird thinking you're some Fast And Furious reject or something. At least 240SX's aren't the usual predictable flagship of rice rockets.

If you can't decide, you really oughta stick with the Civic and leave the 240sx for somebody who really wants it. Seriously, the 240sx should remain the classy car it was designed to be, shouldn't be compared with a Civic. Though, if you decide larger displacement, rear wheel drive, best in class handling, and fine looking important, why are you even considering the Civic?

12-15-2001, 05:07 PM
yah its hard enough to find them these days someone who knows more about it and REALLY REALLY wants it should get a chance to have it

I think this guy is just making fun of us, really. Just to see how much crap we talk about civics.

we just got a heavy snowfall for the first time this winter here in Toronto. i love driving my 240 in the snow (as long as youre careful) and i like fish tailing, but to a point when i can control it....hehe. its kind of a good practice for drifting (when there are no cars around).

oh yeah, btw.... get the 240!! before i got my car 3 months ago, i had a choice b/w that and a civic. i found that i made a good choice.

No one even talked crap about civics... so if that was his point, S13grl, it didn't go off very well for him.

Not rying to be a dick but if you can't decide then the 240 is probably not for you. Most of us here know that a 240 is not a ferrrari or a Lamborghini, #### not even A skyline GT-R, but we doo know that our 240's are what we love, not just drive. It sound dumb but if your just into the "scene" and not the "CARS" then go with the Honda. If your about the "RIDE" then get the 240 and never look back!!

drive both of them like you stole it. I would buy the 240 only because I know what potential it has. I know the civics potential and even still I would buy a 240. BUT THAT IS ONLY BECAUSE I'm going to have a sick swap. So.. I don't think I helped you out any huh? Oh well... I love hondas.. They're reliable they're cheap.. easy o fix up and do whatever with... But I love the look of the 240..
