Sold my 350Z last year and bought a STI, want to get back into Nissans for a 2nd and 3rd car and was wondering what the manufacturing dates are on S13 Silvias?
I need to know this so I can see when I can try to import a car into the US, plan on acquiring a R32 GTR as well however I know they started in May 1989.
I heard their manufacturing date was in '88 but I have no concrete information on this. I think the J's started in May 1988 but am unsure as they are labeled 1989s just like the R32 which started the same date the next year and though I expect the K's to be the same as the J's my expectations could be wrong. Don't want to send friends of mine in Japan or Canada to help me hunt for a 1988 build date car that may not exist.
I'm looking for or less stock cars that are in a great condition, which will be hard to find i know, so I have no interest in USDM 240sxs converted.

I've never heard of an R32 with a '88 build date. Even if they do exist there probably isn't very many of them. And I can assure you if there are '88's they WILL NOT be a GT-R platform.
S13 Silvia's definitely started in 1988, hell my two-tone 240sx was produced in Sept. 1988.

Sweet, thanks.
Found an importer, says shipping from Japan for a S13 would be $1125 usd and I would have to pay a customs fee 2.5% iirc and possibly a sales tax. In Nevada there is no private sale sales tax, but i'm sure this isn't counted as that.
Seeing that average condition Silvias (ie. no rust, but scratchs and dings and other defects but runs good) according to a friend in the military over there are ~$3000 I may be able to get a mint or very good '88 for the same price or lower than an equivalent 240sx total. Waiting on a reply from the importer as to what a mint Silvia goes for over there but i'm suspecting around $7000
I'll post my experiences doing this on this site if anyone is interested once it happens.

Good luck and better hurry, 25 year mark is comming up and the Japanese know Americans are gonna want these cars so the prices are gonna go up.
Not to mention alot of the chassis over here are pretty rusted depending on the area the car comes from and how well the PO has take care of it.
Depending on the month the car was built they are usually sold as a next year model. so a chassis sold in 1990 would have a production date of 1989.

Thanks for the info.
I know a lot of cars there are rusted but I know some people over there that can check them out in person.
I'm thinking prices will not increase a lot for a S13. The GTR on the otherhand i'm sure will skyrocket. I don't see very many people trying to go through the hassal of importing a car that is already available in some form here already and swapped cars with better engines than the CA18DET are common.
