So I'm pretty new to these things and I'm still clueless on somethings about 240s and modding them. I'm curious about the cheap turbo kits they sell on eBay if they're good or are just shit..

Here's a example: 240sx s13 s14 Altima KA24 KA24DE 2 4L T3 T3 T4 Turbo Kit w Turbonetics Turbo | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/240SX-S13-S14-Altima-KA24-KA24DE-2-4L-T3-T3-T4-Turbo-Kit-W-Turbonetics-Turbo-/380527003423?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58992d471f&vxp=mtr)

I'm looking to get a 97 or 98 s14 in a couple of months so now I'm just learning the basic things about starting to tune them

hey man the turbo kits are not bad to get you started and learning about how everything works but the parts are made very cheaply and you will evently replace almost the whole setup. my 98 had an ebay kit on it when i bought it and the only thing left of it is my t4 log mani. also i would advise you from not tuning a ka your self from the questions you posted it seams you know very little about cars and the ka is not the funnest thing to tune. also please search every one eles will not be very nice to you.

Alot of cheap parts. Like he said, you will replace almost all of it.

the Air fuel gauge is worthless. You'll need a Wideband AFR gauge, like AEM or Innovate. That Narrow band gauge wont do you any good.

Those intercoolers arnt bad, ive had one. More than 10psi, and you'll need something better though.

The bov is trash. You will surge like a mo-fo. Surge will shorten the life of your turbo and increase turbo lag.

Turbo looks good, assuming its genuine.

The wastegate is fine for a little bit. but the diaphragms dont last long.

The boost controller is junk. Buddy gave me his once, it just delays boost, doesnt really control it. The pressure just equaled out on mine.

FPR, junk. Your going to have so many problems with this thing. I hear the pressure fluctuates horribly, making tuning difficult and AFRs erratic.

The largest problem your going to have with the manifold and downpipe is quality. Most the time the flanges are warped or theres a blemish in the surface that will keep it from sealing.

Those real stiff metal graphite gaskets are junk as well. they dont seal worth a damn.

I cant tell what kind of t-bolt clamp those are, but you want to watch out for a specific kind. If you dont get the t-bolt clamps with the reinforced section, it will bent the hell out of your piping and wont seal.

GOOD

BAD

Hope this helps. ive installed 3 turbo systems on my own cars and helped many people with there own.

Thanks that really did help a lot. Would you perhaps know what turbo kit would be good and for a pretty good price?

Im sorry, i do not. But if i can give you one more piece of advice, its not how fast you want to go, its about how fast can you afford to go.

I dont buy cheap, it never works for me. My last turbo cost $1500. Gotta pay to play.

used tune 300$
afr gauge 200$
ebay front mount with pre made pipes 300$
name brand t3/t4 i seen some for 500$ lightly used
downpipe 200$
exhuast ebay 150$
cast log mani 100$
sti550cc injectors 100$
fpr 150$
cheap boost gauge 40$
cheap mbc 20$
oil feed/return ebay 100$
used bov and wastegate 300$

total is a bit over 2k and u dont have to replace 90% of it later on and your tuned already no need to deal with bad parts.

i have used cx racing t3/t4 rebuild with garret bearings and staggered oil seal didnt have an issue till i had oil starvation then well yea you kno.

but i would just save a bit more. or even look on the f/s forums i seen some great deals on parts to go kat, i got my ecu from here for a deal
