I'm thinking of swapping the exhaust housing on my gt2871r from the .86 to the .64 as I'm getting way to much lag and not reaching full boost on my sr until around 5k rpm. Is it fairly easy removing it while it's inside the car with a bottom mount manifold or is it a complete pain in the ass?

You should be looking into why your turbo is spooling so late, not how to change the exhaust housing. Even with the .86 housing you should be seeing full boost well under 4k on a SR. Check for boost leaks, damage to the turbo along with cracks in the manifold. What hardware are you running for engine management?

I have yet to see an sr with a 2871 reach full boost at well under 4k especially not even mentioning the .86. Most people seem to reach full boost with the .86 between 4.5-5k I believe. I'm using a rom chipped tuned ecu.

Looks like you're on your own then.

I would take the turbo off the car to switch the housing. It will be a LOT easier. Aside from that, it's straight forward.

do a boost leak test first. like the other guy said could be cracked manifold or gasket blew out too. easiest things to look for. if you swap housing just pull whole assembly out with manifold and swap it that way. thats the easiest.

Wow, have you ever seen a gt2871r? I could help you with that, it would only take a video!
