I think you only need the J30 axles for certain years. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but, I see no harm in installing the axles regardless.

Yeah only Pre95 diffs need axles because they're 5bolt. I know some people running J30 diffs with the 6bolt axles too, but you don't have to
