I have a 1991 240sx with a redtop sr20 swap. It's been burning rich since the day i got it about 2 months ago. I decided its time to fix it, i'm not very mechanically inclined though.

all i've been told by my friends or people I ask is "needs a tune" but it's not so easy to just spend $600 without being sure.

I called Jim Wolf and the guy told me to check out the injectors and MAF.

Injectors: A44 - 000G55 *nissan symbol* 397D

MAF: 22680 52F000 AFH50-13

Turbo: Stock Garrett t28

Exhaust?: 3 inch turbo back magnaflow

They both seem to be stock to me but what else would be giving me terrible fuel economy and making it burn rich?

If I just need a tune, that's fine but I'd like to know what kind of troubleshooting people do for a problem like this.

Also, I DO NOT have an air/fuel ratio gauge. I plan to install one but not with the financial situation I'm currently in lol.

ok so, im guessing if you dont have a gauge then your just smelling un burnt fuel and getting low gas milage??? or what makes u say your burning rich? if it is your fuel system and you looking for a fix on the cheap buy a 20$ FPR and lower the pressure accross your rail(and remove the stock one) although i would recomend a way to read your A/F ratio wile doing this BC you could lean out an detonate your motor.... it could also be other things our motors ECCS determins how much fule to let into the motor by a few different things 1st the MAFS second the TPS and last your O2 sensor (i think there are some things that can change the idle as well but we will ignore those for now.) so to see if your MAFS is working here is a good wright up 1989-1994 240sx: MAF problems tutorial : Nissan Online Mechanic (http://forums.nicoclub.com/1989-1994-240sx-maf-problems-tutorial-t254283.html) to check your TPS is functioning here is a youtube vid that should help 240sx How to check & test your TPS Part 1 www.240SXTECHDVDS.org 1080 HD KA24DE.mp4 - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Mwxicmpg4) and and as for your O2 sensor just pull it and spray it with starter fluid or break cleaner and put it back in usualy all u have to do.... hope this helped a lil....

start with the easy stuff. boost leak test, make sure you're not getting any leaks post maf/pre turbo inlet.
do you have the consult wired in and a friend with the program to read it? makes life a lot easier.
if not, get a multimeter and start checking voltage and resistance of your sensors. Start with water temp, then tps.
