I have an S13 KA with about 175k miles on it, runs very good other than the idle.

So far I have tried replacing the maf and sparkplugs and nothing changes. If I unplug the maf the motor sputters and dies in about 15 seconds. I also hear a weird clinking noise coming from the head, I don't know if it's related or not. It runs 100% fine when I'm driving it, it's just when it idles that it starts to have issues. Also when I first start it it seems ok, but once it warms up it always does it. At first it will just be a small sputter every once in a while then after a few minutes the motor barely even idles.

Sorry about the wind noise from the fan in the video
Could it be engine knock? honestly I am lost at this point. Any help or advice is well appreciated

Try cleaning you IACV

I thought about that but if I put the engine in neutral and keep it revved to 2k or so it still does the same thing. The IACV wouldn't have any affect at those rpms would it?

Had the same issue check for any vacuum leaks. For me it was the vac line from the intake

Also the clicking noise is probably your timing chain which Ka's are notorious for having rattle when the chain guides break

i figured out what was wrong with mine, it was the idle air control valve. i took it off the in take and sprayed brake clean and then wd40 (to unstick the srings) now runs smooth and saved my $50. give it a try and sea foam it.

How would I check this? Just by looking for any loose hoses etc?

I think you are right

It's fixed now. Ended up being an issue with the timing
