Well, *hopefully* I'll be picking up a S14 within the next few months as my daily driver to replace my beloved Saturn which is falling apart more and more everyday.

First off, I have no real intentions on heavily modding the current motor in the car I purchase. I was considering perhaps a WAI (aka noisemaker) for a little added kick. However if I get that dire need for more speed I'll probably purchase an NX 75 shot wet-kit. How well would the KA handle with such a shot? I did a search and most of the posts were pretty vague on the KA's handling capabilities without any added fuel and whatnot.

Now... as for my project... I have a bit of a hard choice.

I can either pick up a second KA24DE, rebuild it for light boost, hell maybe even heavy boost or I am going to pick up my friends 84 Fiero and swap in an LS1 which will be quite costly, BUT, not much more expensive than building ANY motor for high boost.

Assuming I go with the KA project, I first ask are there any forums dedicated to KA-T's that actually have MEMBERS posting on the forums. I'm a bit curious as to how well the KA takes to low boost, high boost, fuel and timing issues, PCM issues etc etc.

I have been told that the KA internals are good for about 300HP, but then I've read elsewhere that it's only good for 7psi. I'd really like to clear up my confusion.

If anyone here can help answer these questions I'd REALLY appreciate it, from I've read this board seems more geared toward the SR20DE-T just like most other 240SX forums.

Hopefully I'll have my S14 soon, it's taking a while to sell of all my parts on my current car.

maybe you didnt search hard enough? imho the ka does just fine under boost.. how much power are you looking to get? what are you going to be doing with this car?

hello, welcome bandwagon jumper! Enjoy your stay! the search button is your friend. Hope you pick up as many chicks with your future 240 as we all do!

I'm only a partial bandwagon jumper, no SR20DE-T for me!

I did do some brief searching but searching through all the useless threads with no real info is kinda tiresome, it's much easier to bug people.

As for how much power... Mmh.. I can't really say. As for low boost I guess it doesn't really matter. Enough to put me in the low 14's high 13's maybe? Chances are though I'll just decide to build it for high boost, no point in yanking the motor all over again to rebuild YET again. So yeah, let's say high boost. High boost to me is like 20psi. However 10+ I'm sure would be just as fun.

I'm not so much concerned about the internals of the motor, as I am with fuel. I noticed that both the XS and greddy kits both have some sort of fuel management. I don't know if this is common kits with most cars or not, I have a saturn, we build our own kits. Also, are there any issues with OBD-II motors and boost, the tranny PCM? crap like that? If there are threads with this info feel free to direct me to them!

As for the women comment.... I don't know whether you were being sarcastic or not, but if you were, I can assure you, almost anything is a step up from having a 95 SC2... The only comments I get about my car from women are that it's "cute". Ugh!

Anyway, like I asked before, are there and KA-T dedicated forums? I can't find anything on google.

I would say go with the Fiero, but I have a feeling that an LS1 swap would cost a ton more than any KA-T project making the same horsepower.

But if I'm wrong on that and the LS1 swap could be done for say $3000-$4000 go with that, and keep the S14 as a daily driver.

It's hard to say on the Fiero. I have a chance to get one from my friend for 200 bucks (I'm haggling his parents down to 150, they only paid 90 bucks for it...). The motor doesn't run, but the body and interior are in VERY good condition. I could pick up a LS1 for 2k, maybe less if it has high mileage, rebuild it, and buy a master build/swap kit for about 4k. Overall I'd probably drop 7k into swapping the motor, which is a lot, but you can only imagine the results of dropping in a 300hp + motor into a 2300lb car :rawk:
