I should be getting a camcorder soon. ^_^ How do people mount them in their cars? More specifically, in S14s? Anyone got pics or some tips?

just make sure to sorta hide the camera if you get pulled over. i'm not sure if you're using it to witness races, but if you get caught.....ouch.

autocrossers use a camera bar that mounts behind the seat, it runs the width of the cabin.

Here's something I came across awhile back...I think there are ones that you can buy that work the same as this one, but I guess if this one works, why not use it...

Yeah that's what I'm thinking of. How do you make that (what materials) and get it secure enough so that it doesn't tilt the camera?

I know one person who runs a mount like the one on the linked website, I know another that runs one with a similar design that uses both head rest supports. The ones that run the length of the cabin are usually affixed to the seatbelt mounting bolts with a bracket and a bar like the headrest ones. All three are more than adequate, although the single headrest type strikes me as too weak (although I know its not).

The "seatbelt points" mount uses two 6" strips of Al, drilled to mount and attach to a bar. One 1" Al box bar, cut to the proper length. One camera mount fastened in the appropriate location on the bar. Total cost of my buddies was about $10 (I think he jacked the mount off an old tripod) and 30 minutes of time.

How well they work depends on you and your car. I say "you" b/c if you have to keep the seat far back, the headrest mount doesn't work as well (b/c it obstructs your vision if you want to keep the camera level)... "your car" means that I haven't checked out the location of the 240 seatbelt points to determine if a bar there would get in the way of my seating position.

Anyway, let us know if you make one and how it works.
