Any body ever get one of these?
I recieved one about a month ago. Doing some stupid stuff.
Well I haven't recieved a ticket in the mail yet. And the ticket the officer gave me on the spot has superior court circled, and the date of April 4 on it.
Does this mean I have to show up to court on this date?
Shouldn't I recieve a ticket in the mail, with the fine amount?
Out of curiosity, What is the average fine amount?
I have a clean record.-- Well did.
Is their any way to fight a ticket if it is misswritten? I heard if any facts are wrong, the ticket can be thrown out. Not sure if this is true or not.
The officer wrote that the speed limit was 30, and that I was doing 40. the speed limit actually was 35. 5mph isnt a big difference, so I doubt the judge would dismiss based on that. But if their is a chance, help a brother out.

if you didn't recieve a ticket from the cop when you were at the scene and what you are saying you have is a court summons then yes you have to go on that date.
You will be charged in court with wreckless driving, and court costs as well.
You will not get a ticket in the mail before that date. I guess you can try and fight it, but when you go to court first talk to the prosecutor he will try and lower it if he can.

my friend went to an EVOC course to not have it go on his record. he was also 17 at the time (don't know if that makes a difference). good luck.

Careless and reckless. Actually it was for following too closely (cop claimed I was tailgating HIM). It's the same as careless and reckless....Just paid the fine and court costs ($125 I think). I'ts really hard to fight a ticket, it's your word against the cops unless you have witnesses and the judge will believe the cop 99.99999% of the time!

well I know here in cali you would be eliligible for traffice school. you would pay the fine and the traffic school fees go to traffic school and it does not wind up on your record. I would assume you have the same kinda of system there.
HAHA... I had a reckless 2 years ago for doing 114 in traffic... (shoosh I dont speed anymore)
So anyways get ready for court baby!! I had 4 days of court... Do NOT pleed guilty to a recklass driving they can tag you with up to $2000 daller fine and a YEAR in jail...
This is NO JOKE! I about pissd myself when I heard this... I went up and was going to pled guilty and they judge said you better rethink what your doing and try to fight this... Of I have to give you the minimum syntence (fuck that!)
So I said not guilty and set up a date to talk to a prosacuter (sp)
I ended up with cominity service! Doing to driving school! When that was done they knocked it down to Neglagence II which was $480... I just paid it on the way out of the court how... NEVER to speed again! Evcept for 6 moths ago i was not looking at my speed and got hit for 20 over... suck thats another $148 I payed...

So the best thing for me to do is to walk into court on the date I need to appear by and talk to the prosecutor.
Then When I go before the judge should I say no contest, or just say not guilty instead of admiting my guilt?
Thanks guys

My girlfreind got out of it....She got the ticket b/c she randomly drove into a ditch...lol,basically. She picked me up for lunch(before I had my license!) and about a block away from my house, she went to grab something from my hand and BAMO we were in the ditch, hurt like a (&%(&#(^(&()*!)@#*() too,I had a concussion and 2 cracked bones in my neck going UNDER 20mph in a sable....yeah,REAL safe aren't they? But that is how I got the money for my 240...heh,stupid insurance companies, who says geico doesn't pay well? :)
Anyway, its been done. But then again, you are proble not a cute 16yo girl with an otherwise perfectly clean record.

no contest and guilty are essentially the same thing...has more to do with subsequent civil suits...but it's irrelevant here unless you think a private party might try to sue you...
you don't have to appear in court on the date that is written on your ticket...in fact most times you wont even be in the system by that date...they are always backed up...just wait for the curtesy notice in the mail (make sure they have your correct address written on the ticket) and this will tell you when you have to appear by...then you can go in on any day you want before the deadline..you can also call the court and get a status on your citation..

Chris, you suck. hahahaha
You're supposed to get a thingy in the mail. CALL THE COUNTY COURT that issued the ticket and get a status.
If I were you, I'd pay the fine and go to traffic school.. doesnt go on your record.
Unless ya get lucky like Jon and they fucked up your paperwork.. ahahaha
