Hey guys...sorry for the newbie question, but I'm considering an older 240 since the newer ones are so hard to find around here. So as the question asks...when did the 240 go from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive?
Thanks!

I'm with James. I don't think 240SX was ever a front-wheel drive car.

AFAIK, the S12 (mid-late 80's 200sx here)[also the only turbo S-series in the U.S.] was even RWD. Even before that, the S-chassis has always been RWD.

the 240sx has never been FWD. from when they started the 240 in 1989 till the last ones 1998 (i think) they were all RWD. the 200sx was FWD buts its not a 240.

That was only after it became a part of the B-series. when it was still an S-series, i.e: S10, S110, S12, it was RWD.

Definitely wrong information, whoever gave it to you. 240 was never a FWD.

HaHa...no confusion between the two here...I was just under the impression that earlier models were FWD. My bad, guys. Quite a few people have their 1989-1993 240s listed as FWD on Autotrader. I didn't think that was correct, but I wanted to make sure.
Thanks for the info.
BTW...I don't think anyone was really jumping my shit on this question.
Yeah the 240 has always been rear. Mine is an '89 that was the first model year and its rear. Of course people who don't know about the car are sometimes shocked by that fact. but yeah always have been rear wheel drive.

Go there. There are no FWD 240's, as you've probably seen.... but there are sr20det's designed for FWD use.

"yea, thats one of the reasons i got it" Man, that would of been bad if i didnt notice or was watching when she put the front wheels on the rollers...that could of been bad <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

You can go all the way back to the original silvias from the 60's and you'll still never find a FWD.
