It's been awhile since I sold both my 240s. I'm thinking about picking up another 240 hatch, but I don't know if I should get a sohc or dohc.

I read that sohc is easier to work on, but it's getting harder to find parts for it. I've had two 1990 sohc in the past, and I had never driven a dohc 240. Would I feel any difference between the two ka motors?

My goal is to get a 240 hatch, do some work on it, and eventually swap an SR into the car since I will be moving to Colorado next year. I won't be drifting the car, but will make it a type x car just for looks and some boost.

Which would be better to get for now? 89-90 chassis ka24e or 91-93 chassis ka24de? I'll be driving this car here and there, but I also have a backup car for when the 240 is on jack stand. I'm in no rush to do a swap either.

Thanks for reading.

How about you drive cars with a SOHC and DOHC, get a clean chassis, then make your own damn decision up? Not exactly rocket science...

SOHC>DOHC. My first 92 S13 hatch i swapped in a single cam. My second, 92 S13 hatch as well, i swapped out the blown dual cam for a newer dual cam. Single cam definately is more fun torque wise believe it or not. I loved that thing. The dual cam, eh....didn't do much for me.

Why don't you get a civic? You'll feel a real difference then.
