So Im currently in the process of selling my car and I just got a fix it ticket for my exhaust (even though I should have gotten a helluva lot more than that). How does that work in California? If I sell the vehicle does the ticket go with it or is it simply dropped? I'm looking into it but I figured there's enough people on zilvia that have probably dealt with this to get me a better answer.

Also side note: Im running a stock SR, if i put on a stock exhaust with cat and try to get the ticket written off do they pop the hood to check vins?

Well for anyone posting advice, It seems like it really just depends on who signs it off, what they know about cars etc... Still cant find anything on the selling the car portion so any advice on that will be greatly appreciated.

just throw stock exhaust on, they didnt ticket you for anything else rather than the exhaust so that should be just it.

I could be wrong, but I believe that when you transfer the title, you're not responsible any longer, and the new owner can't be held responsible for your ticket. As long as you get a smog cert and transfer the title you both should be ok.
My understanding... If any one has better info please share.

Just weld a stock on go to hwy/sheriff patrol office it's free and they will look at it and just sign if off, go to court show it got signed off and that's it. You won't be low balled or have to worry about it even if you don't sell it.

Thanks for the info guys, a few things though, one I dont have a stock exhaust to put on, so I guess what im trying to say is will it simply be dropped if I sell the car because I dont exactly want to spend the $50 or so on a stock exhaust if im just going to sell it and have it dropped... also ive had the car for sale for a while now I just happened to get the ticket while it was for sale, thats not why its for sale, and the cop said I dont need to go to court, just get it signed off by any officer and go to the station and pay it off $15 or so, but then that still requires me to get the exhaust that I still dont have money for lol

Its not a fix it ticket anymore, its a ref ticket $125.00 ref and then court to finish it off
