Additionally, how much do I need to full up the diff?

my mechanice which is from japan, real JDM.. haha... he barely speaks any english, he recommended ONLY Nissan OEM diff oil for my J30 VLSD... however what i heard from the Nissan dealer is that pennzoil makes their OEM diff oil... but that dealer didn't have any Nissan OEM so i had to use 2bottle of Pennzoil 75-90... and it works fine, had about 4000miles on the LSD w/o any problems

hope this helps

just your usual gear oil, you don't have a clutch type, so no worries

What about the viscosity?

85w-140 GL5 or 80w-90 GL5

You can use any gear oil (80W-90 works fine). VLSD doesn't matter, as Dousan said "you could use cooking oil"

VLSD is a sealed unit and doesnt see any gear oil you put in your diff. dont worry about it. use a good quality 80w90

85-90 would be prefered over the 145
