dang that's cool. It's remarkable to see the market "shift" (no pun intended) in such a short time.

damn...when i first bought my car 4 yrs ago...most honda guys i knew were like dood...those are cars that secretaries and accountants drive. It didnt really bug me too much till a couple of months later when my rear windows fogged up and i can see an outline of an old sticker....MARYKAYS. I was like yup...im driving a girl car *also it showed since my clutch went out after 40k thanks to the previous owner* Now i see this article....it just brought everything back to me. =p Kinda funny how 4 yrs later...EVERYBODY WANTS A KOUKI. I hope this wont bring back the whole S13 vs S14 == REAL MAN's CAR vs BOY TOY CARs *atleast thats what i remember was the debate in NICO.

i think with the horse power wars right now (sti, evo, srt-4 ect.) that the s15 with an sr would have dominated the market and it is a shame that they didnt bring it over.

they had to make way for the 350z...thats what is supposed to compete with the sti and evo and such...

Here's what I never really understood. That article and other reviews say that the S14 has a softer shape and interior that stresses luxury over performance. Was that what Nissan Japan also had in mind, or just Nissan North America? I guess it can't be just Nissan NA since the 240SX is based on the Silvia, but the reviews always sound like it was a Nissan NA decision to market the car for women.

there are two stock 96 s14s by me that are owned by guys. one is auto, one is stick. there was another black s14 (95 i believe) that was stock down in rutgers... also stock and also auto. he looked very mad when he saw me in my car. so yah... not all stock s14s are driven by girls. but these guys seem to drive very very very sloooow in the turns. and they're all asian.
the s14 definitely looks like a girly car though... my girlfriend 2 fav cars now seem to be the s14 (95-96) and the fd3s. the only difference is that the rx7 actually has some hp to back up its looks. T_T

my car was previously owned by a female nurse.
LOL now, every 240 I see is a guy. hahaha
I dont care who had my car 1st... It must have been a girl though becuase the clutch was done for...
I think they should bring over the S15 and not have it turbo... They sell more cars non turbo in the states...
Then we can turbo it... Also they will never sell a car for less than a 300zx that out performs a 300zx... Just a bad idea.

I don't think it was "designed" for women but it was marketed to woman. It was designed just like the J30 and the infamous Camry...that was just the style back then so plz stop tryin to call my Zenki girly:rl:
Also, the 240 would have probably $hitted on all those cars they compared power to (except that damn Talon). They should've had a comparison test afterwards.

Nice find. Does anyone have articles about the s13??

I'd be interested in that.
My car was owned by a girl....high school cheerleader captain of the squad,so I geuss not just any girl, but when I found this out I made sure to check the whole car for 'stains' :ugh:
On the rare occaison I see a 240,...the driver is one of the following(don't get offended if you fit into one of these! I'm not dissing you, just making an observation!)
1.Gangstas rocking out the stock Fastback,or ones with the biggest cheapest ugliest wheels possible, driving it like its the shit, staring you down...etc. but otherwise stock car, usually with stock stereo blaring, going really slow in the fast lane
2.skaters that drive the absolute hell out of them, usually with coupes and sometimes FB's that are beat all to shit:down:
3.women driving stock ones
Other than that,I've only seen a couple of guys in a stock zenki....they even tried to race me in my moms Maxima and lost
EDIT:I forgot to classify me!
Idiot white boy who drives very agressively, enjoying his car, often listening to rap/hip-hop/R&B/reggae at a moderate volume, switching lanes, and taking turns excessively quick... :rawk:

There are only two 240's beside mine in my town. S13 and S14 both chicks. The s13 has a universal muffler , and the s14 has neons all over the underbody and the wire neon all around the inside. Typical ghey shit you see in my town like wings and graphics. :smash:

I just read that article and I find it intriguing on how they mentioned plans for the 300ZX two years from that time. When most of us know that the car received the axe during the 1996 model year. I really wish Nissan brought the S15 over here for just one model year. However I guess it would have been too much money since they would have to retune the KA and possibly provide the car for other international LHD countries.

I've been trying to figure that out .. there's nothing luxurious about my 97. . and it's an LE. . It's harsh and pretty simple. .
I guess times have changed . . dunno. .
used to be you could throw in leather and have an instant luxury car lol

jerry florence, the man that would be responsible for making the WORST decision for the 240SX.. haha then it would 100% compete with the probe.
zemus> Sorry I love the KA, but I rather have no s15 if id dident have a Turbo
thats retarded, thats like saying "I'de rather NOT have the 240SX because it will be NON TURBO" -- duh! Thats the beauty, unless you put in the work.. the 240SX in stock trim is bland.. its all the crazy work, time, and effort we put into our cars that make them shine. Thereby, seperating us from the masses with stock fast cars (eclipse GST/X, wrx, evo, blah).

so true! its the work and time that goes into a car that earns respect. i couldn't could care less if a car runs a 18 or a 12 in the quarter. this is the same reason rx7 owners get lots of respect in my eyes... it takes alot of know-how to keep an rx7 in good condition. most of them do the majority of their own work too, b/c good shops that know how to work with the rx7 and a rotary are few and far between. a new rx8 or evo - who cares? but a near 20 year old 86 rx7 FC in great condition and running well - that is really impressive.

I couldnt agree with you more, I love seeing old or less desireable cars fixed up and/or maintained.. but the Mazda RX is even more difficult to work with since its a higher maintanance breed.
Amazing, where are the GSX/T Eclipse/Talon owners NOWADAYS? Awesome how so many people buy a car, fix it up, race it out, abuse it.. then find something newer and better to get into. I'm always going to love fixing up my S13.. and when I am done with it, I am still going to own it.. but maybe then, I'll consider getting a different type of car.. Miata? Supra? Who knows...
