ALL-NEW FUZION™ ZRi PERFORMANCE TIRE LINE
DEBUTS AT SEMA SHOW
Marketing plans include new image vehicle and online racing game
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (November 4, 2003) – The Fuzion™ ZRi, a tire designed specifically for the enthusiast and tuner markets, is being introduced by Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show this week (Booth #41917). The Fuzion ZRi, a new brand of tire from BFNT that addresses this fastest growing segment in the performance tire market, will be available to retail customers in spring 2004.
“We are very excited about the new Fuzion brand of tires,” said Phil Pacsi, executive director, North American Consumer Tire Brand Marketing, BFNT. “This is our first tire designed specifically to appeal to the tuner market segment.”
The new W- V- and H-speed rated Fuzion ZRi features a directional tread pattern for great looks and optimum handling. The tire launch will be backed with a major marketing initiative, including a new Web site, www.thefuzionzone.com, complete with an exciting interactive on-line racing game, Pacsi added.
The tire, which is engineered with the company’s exclusive UNI-T® technology, will be available in more than 30, 16- to 20-inch, 30- to 60-series sizes.
UNI-T is an acronym for “Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technology” found only in Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton and select associate brand tires. One of its core technologies is a Computer Optimized Component System, CO•CSÒ, which uses a super computer to help determine an ideal combination of tread design, casing shape, materials and construction for a particular application.
Tires with UNI-T have a special O-Bead™ that eliminates overlapped joints in the bead assembly, improving the way a tire interacts with the rim, and providing a rounder assembly for improved stability.
The use of L.L. Carbon, or Long Link Carbon, an advanced form of carbon black, produces a stronger tire, better able to resist cracking, chipping, tearing and excessive wear.
Nashville-based Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire, LLC is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc., whose parent company, Bridgestone Corporation, is the world's largest tire and rubber company. BFNT develops, manufactures, and markets Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton and associate and private brand tires. The company is focused on wholesale and original equipment markets, supplying passenger, light truck, commercial vehicle, off-road, agricultural and other tires to its customers in North America.

doh.. figures..
FuZion doesn't exactly sound like a tire made for serious grip though..
Although I hate to speculate.

After looking at the pics....they kinda remind me of all season tires. I don't think I'm going to enjoy this test too much.

When ever you see a tire aimed at the "tuner" market, it means looks before performance.
Proxies 4
NeoGens
Scorcher
Garbage tires for people who want to "trick out" their "rides"
No doubt these tires do have better grip and handling than most tires out there, but they are not comparable to a true performance tire.

i'm not really impressed by them....I would have someone try them out before i would buy them. Oh and the wrx and civic si looks :ghey: rofl fast and the fuzions.

Not comparable to a true performance tire?
Tires such as the Proxes 4 now use the silica compound in their tires just like the Hi-Performance T1S model. The similar silica compound that can be found in the Yokohama ES100 and AVS Sport. Maybe the V- and W- performance rated tires will come in good sizes/prices and allow for a great street tire.

Exactly. See my post above.
Drift into a Curb: You just said exactly what I said, but you are disagreeing with me? You said a similar compound can be found in higher end performance tires. Similar being the key word there. That is the current technology of tires. Everybody has it. There is a big difference between Proxies 4 and as you stated, high performance T1-S. Just because the two tires are made out of the same stuff, doesn't mean they are the same thing.
You summarize your post with a very acute statement. They will make a great street tire. Thats exactly what they are designed to be.
Step up to a true performance tire and feel the difference, and see the difference in lap times. Tires like these:
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Kumho Ecsta MX
Falken Azenis RT-215

Everybody has it, but not everybody is using it in their tires. There is a big difference between these tuner tires and the performance tires you listed, I agree. It's obvious the 4 and T1S aren't the same tire, everything from compound characterstics to performance ratings to sidewall/tread design all play their role. It's a big improvement for tires to use similar higher end performance characterstics is what I'm getting at. I find them comparable in respect that you'll be able to locate similarities that they're using in the tuner tires to the high performance tires. Can't I disagree just because I differ from your thinking? Do I really care? Not really.

Matt i think he was making a point that these are still good for street use.. kind of like the Falken Azenis St-115's versus the Sports....
anyways.. anything else personal you guys have to say.. use the PM function.

Right Grant, and right Drift. I agree with you both, and I thought thats what I was saying. Drift: I read your first post thought you where saying something else. We are saying the same thing I think, but using differnt ways to say it. No hard feelings right?

It's a misunderstanding on my part as well. No hard feelings at all. I don't want any problems with the SD people anyway. Especially when I might be moving there soon! lol
