Okay, this is just silly. I have a burnt front side marker bulb in my "new" 98 Kouki. I'm sorry but it just isn't obvious how to get to the bulb. The owner's manual calls it out as the "front side marker"on 7-27 and shows methods for all lights EXCEPT the front side marker on 7-28 thru 7-30. The FSM shows this as a 3.8w bulb, but nothing more. Do I really have to remove the inner fender lining to get to this? Everyone I know has Zenkis so I thought I'd ask befiore getting the wrenches out. Thanks.

Seriously guy. your replacing a light bub not rebuilding an engine. You cant just look at the light and figure out how to remove it....
remove top screw, pop out light, replace..

Okay, I was hoping this forum would be helpful rather than condescending. Your suggestion sounds like a great one however my car is a Kouki. These S-platform cars were made from 1997 to 1998. The side markers do not have external screws. Next contestant?

Although I was unaware you have the USDM front bumper so my comment was for the corner light, anyway my comments still stands.
Reach up under the front bumper and replace it if there is a lining remove it enough to get your arm through

Yeah, I only have the back JDM, the front's on my list of things to get along with the fogs. Mine's pearl white but I haven't got the RB greddy intake on yet so I haven't moved my battery. I'm going to be re-installing my powder coated 4pots next weekend so when it's on the lift I will look behind the well. Thought I was missing something obvious. Thanks for the response. - Teddy Jr.

Pop the fenderlining, you can peel it back from the front of the car and get to the light from under there. You should be able to twist the bulb holder out from under the car once the liner is pulled out of the way.

Thanks guys, I'll go at after work. I read a thread last week that said to slide it forward and it would pop out and that didn't seem right. All I know is when I pop the fob alarm button that light is the only one not blinking so I'm reminded every day!

It's just a silly design. You absolutely have to remove a series of plastic rivets and/or screws to snake your arm up in there as you lay on the ground. Can't picture an average joe getting into this. The worst part is as careful as you are, the plastic rivets disintegrate. Went ahead and pulled both sides, replaced with new rivets after cleaning them nice and yes, replaced both bulbs. NBD.

The fuck are you talking about? It doesnt take rocket science to change a marker light on a kouki. I do not recall having to replace any rivets or anything... If its that much of a struggle for you to change a fucking light bulb, take it to autozone.

You don't have to take the fender liner out from the fender. Just unscrew it from the bumper and pull down then you can reach up to it. Metal screws upfront.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the plastic retaining clips that likes to commit sepuku the moment you touched them.
Only reason you dont remember them is because whens the last time you've seen a fender liner still on these cars nowadays?

here is how the side marker installs...
http://i2.frsimg.com/images/detailed_images/Dmax_T007_5.jpg
the far left side you can see where it slides into a slot in the fender, the right side has the little plastic hold in clip.. you go from inside the fender, and you can squeeze that clip inwards with just your fingers, and it will pop right out.
then you remove the bulb socket by twisting counter clockwise, and then the "194" bulb can be pulled straight out from the socket.. it might take a bit of force, those 194's can be a PITA sometimes.

Funny thing, when I first bought my car I actually went out of my way to find a clean set and replace them since mine were half-missing and torn up. That was before I had coilovers :-/ One of these days I'll get another set in there. You wouldn't believe how such a subtle thing can make a car look so much better, and actually be functional too.
