Pillow What? Tie rods... no...

So I've spent a few weeks asking around and digging online about my RUCAs that have bad (and here's where it gets tricky) Pillow/Ball Bushings/Bearings Tie Rods/Spherical Bearings...

I know I'm a dumbshit when it comes to suspension but I was hoping my friends could spare me from a flaming but oh well. Damned if I don't ask, flamed if I do so anyway.

My S13 came with aftermarket RUCAs and these bushings have gone bad. The ball is all scarred up and marred from the containing arm's interior surface coating wearing away.

I was able to find exactly what I'm looking for, I hope, at the FK site (http://www.fk-bearing.com/en/category/spherical-plain-bearing/rod-end) but have no clue how to size or determine what I need. It's just a bunch of numbers and some have coatings, some don't...

Unless anyone has some input I'll try to email FK Bearings but given that they're contact info says Japan, I don't have high hopes.

Those are rod ends.

You've pulled out the thread adjuster and the jam nut, but all you need to replace is the rod end itself.

If they are typical chinaspeed garbage, they are usually m14x2.0 or m16x2.0 threads.

Exactly what I was looking for (http://www.midwestcontrol.com/part_family.php?id=8) with a good web site and US contact info. I'll probably give them a call tomorrow since I want to make sure I get the right thing.

Also, if I find a bill in the laundry I may look into the Auroras, but that's unlikely.

Metric rod ends can be hard to find. I was piecing together some toe and traction arms and thought I could just replace the rod ends on the shitty Megan arms I bought on eBay but all the places I looked (including FK) had nothing in the correct size.
I believe the size of the Megan rod ends I bought are M18x1.5 or M18x2.0. I think I still have them somewhere. If yours are the same size I will just give them to you if you want them.

I would junk it all and just buy SPL. 5/8" rod ends can be found everywhere.

Digging further I noticed my busted ends, and subsequently my RUCAs, are left hand thread. Not sure if they're metric or not since they're LH but I appreciate all the input. The SPL titaniums look badass but I'm worried about clearance if I end up getting coilovers with a piggyback reservoir (such as the BC ERs ).

Should have posted this a long time ago but, thread pitch is M16x2 RH thread, and I ended up getting part no. 4567 from Midwest Control Products Corp (Spherical Rod End, Male, Chrome Moly, Nylon Race Metric,) $40 for two, shipped. :bow:
