Im in the process of replacing my oil pump/front cover and ive got everything unbolted , oil pan and pick up have been removed but my front cover is hung up on the spacer thing that drives the oil pump. Ive managed to pull it about an inch forward of its normal position. Is this normal and what will I need to put the spacer back on the crank. And if this isnt normal how screwed am I?
Ive searched but everything comes back with oil pick up tube but thats off the car so its not an option

Yes still in car and do you mean just pull the entire thing off and just push it back on or or try to pull it past the spacer and do my best to keep the spacer in place
