im a newbie by the way srry...so jus got my 240 vert a 92 and my gas gauge isnt accurate i was wondering wut could be wrong, my gas tank does have a dent thats how i got it, so i was wondering if that could be it, and if so do all gas tanks from 240's are the same from this year? such as the hatch, coupe or vert, thanks :)

It could be from the dents in your tank. Only if they are big though. Also you may want to swap out your fuel pump cradle with another 240. Take your fuel pump out and put it in your other cradle that you got from another 240. If you still have the problem then dents in your tank would be the reason. Your fuel pump is located in the boot under all if your carpet should twards the right side of the car. There will be other posts explaining how to remove your fuel pump..

what do you mean by not accurate? it changes dramatically when you turn/on an incline but then goes back to where it was?

DOOOOUBT its the dents.
its probably the fuel sending unit. those things are notorious for accumulating topical rust which results in false readings. usually on much older cars (my 28 280z and 73 620.)
that would be what i would check first. you can try to derust it (if thats the problem) or replace it for like $30-40

Oh ok well ill check all this tomorrow morning thanks guys, hopefully its nothing big, and its not accurate as in wen it reads i have a quarter tank of gas left usually means my cars on the side of the road with no gas lol -_-

prev owner probably messed with the speedometer and took the gas needle thing off and when he/she put it back they put it at the half-way mark instead of the quarter cause they wanted more gas...

you needa change the fuel sending unit, not the pump

^ you could do that, but that one also might have accumulated rust since it's been sitting so long so youll be stuck with the same problem

If you put a new cradle into it and it reads the same it's most likely the gauge.

lord.
your guage is NOT going to read different because there is a fucking dent... in the gas tank.
its the shitty fuel sending unit- they often go bad.
why would you replace the pump? do you have any idea what you are doing? you shouldnt be messing around with a tank full of gas.
just leave it and watch your mileage, its a better fuel gauge than anything else.
