Whats up guys, well first off my name isn't manny. Its Aaron P..... mannykiller is just a name I came up for forums because I had a guy try to sell my motor out of the shop he owned. His name was manny...and was a little philipean guy that I would deck in the jaw if I ever saw him again. Either way I got my stuff back thanks to some guys ratting out his location and the location of my stuff. Onto the good stuff though. I bought a Fd almost 3 years ago and blew an oil control ring about a year into that. I've been building the car for almost 2 years now and it's getting close to being finished. I figured i'd share my build with you guys. I love drifting, and I love dricing on the steet. Yes I live in CA about 20 min from Willow Springs international raceway..so just drift and all the good stuff is very close to me. I also enjoy track days and time attack... I've geared this build towards being able to let me participate in all the fun stuff. So onto the good stuff. The pics...

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1306.jpg
brought my old exhaust and oil coolers to make sure they fit... but decided that i'm trashing the whole exhaust.. and going with a new system. 4" all the way to try to get everything we can out of the gtx35r. If any of you guys are familiar with HP turbo ratings..For rotary.. you take whatever the turbo is rated for and you divide it by 1.3 "13b-rew" displacement. So almost maxing out this turbo is my goal. I'd like to get the broadest power-band possible. WHP under the curve! My power goal is 450-480WHP. I'm also trying to make the most power at as low a PSI as possible. Efficiency wise..it'll just be better if we can make 450WHP at say 20PSI compared to 25PSI. Less stress=better reliability.
anyways..back to pics..
Oil coolers. 25Row Mocal's

Just ordered my Radiator -16AN fittings today so they should be in from summit this week. Other than that.. just tidying up some loose ends.

Hey thanks!

The motor was built by Howard Coleman (Coleman precision rotaries). Its a large street port that is supposed to make 500whp at 20-22lbs. I'll be keeping it a little lower than thatfor reliability. But the seals are NRS ceramic apex seals, 1 piece, 3mm..they were really expensive :-\ but they should take care of business.

Sweet! I know the reputation of Coleman rotary motors. That will be a nice setup for sure. Are you going to run a premix of any kind? When we built my friends R1 he chose Pineapple Racing to build his motor. He too went with 3mm NRS seals. With a GT35R kit , Power FC, Turbosmart WG, Apexi FMIC/Exhaust he made 368rwhp at 10 psi on RX7.com's dyno. We were quite shocked.

Please be sure to get a video of startup. I love to hear a Wankel lope like it has a cam.

advans are sweet.....but I like the rota's too. If they're good enough for Driftworks 700whp s15...i'm pretty sure they'll be just fine one my 450whp car.

Update:

Started planning for the 4" exhaust routing... Gonna be toite like a tiger...but it'll fit. It's hard to see but i have about a quarter inch of clearance on the LIM side. After wrapping the Down Pipe...it'll most likely be a 16th if that away from the LIM.. so we may kick it over a little more depending..
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1349.jpg
Then realized that my tire would be running into my thermostat blockfor my oil coolers if I left it in it's previous location.. so I decided to re-do one of the lines..the one coming from the front cover and lay the block sideways instead of flat against the frame. The bracket is a simple piece of flat steel bent using the air bender. going to slot the mounting holes for a little adjustability and clean up the metal to make it a little prettier but it's strong, clears the tires even when I get my PBM modded angle knuckles.
Beforehttp://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1351.jpg
After
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1418.jpg

Then realized my Oil filler neck needed to be modded slightly for the -6AN fitting for the oil catch can...so I cut the old weiner looking slip on and grinded it down a little. Drilled a new nice hole where it needed to be... And bj welded the steel -6AN fitting on there and filled the other hole in.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1402.jpg
I'll post more pics of how I'm going to route the line later when I make it =-) I really wanted the Clear line that all the sweet Japs use.. but believe it or not it's a little difficult to find... anyone know a place i could order it from?
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1403.jpg

After that me and Johnny decided to make the -16AN Coolant lines... I forgot what brand I used.. i'll have to look at it again..but it was expensive...but well worth it.. was a breeze to make..

So Everyday I try to get at least one thing done to ensure the forward motion of the project. Eventually it'll be completed....but with these projects....they're really never completely complete hah.

So!!..Small update:

cut the down-pipe and realized i'll need another 90 degree piece to bend down and go into the straight under the car.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1435.jpg
added some straight just to get as far as we could before we need to "90" and cut it.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1436.jpg
and had johnny tack my cannon plug bulkhead for my rywire quick disconnect onto the fire-wall. Going to cut some more gold and nicely cover the edges so it looks a little cleaner, but you get the idea. Going to need some fire-sleeve over the harness to keep her from getting insinerated haha

as promised here is a picture of the almost complete manifold. And my almost complete I mean we need to do a little blending on the turbo flange side. Note the length of the runners! Thermal expansion =win! very excited what this combined with my long runner UIM will do as far as hp/tq ratio! If everything works out i'll have one hell of a useable powerband =-)

Bought some Skateboard "shorty's Doh-Doh's truck bushings and shaved them down a little bit for my radiator mounts.. Came out good! I may look for some sweet colored ones down the line but these do the job well. I used the softest bushings I could find as they were pretty stiff but after cutting them I think they'll provide just the right amount of support. Used a little washer just to disperse the load and whaaalaah!

Then I decided to clean up the front end in prep for my Bash bar. Cut some loose ends smoothed it out with the grinder. Then cut some plates and welded them together. Utilizing scrap metal and puting it to use because I'm cheap and metal is expensive haha and today i'll be doing the mounts for them.

I cant remember but here is a picture of the manifold 99% done. If i could do it again I'd chagne a couple things. I may sell them and go with a couple Tial MVR's... we'll see.

Going to breath from the oil filler neck and the back passenger side Iron. 2 an-6's should be enough to prevent that god aweful choo choo chain smoke puffs I used to get all the time

Little Update:

So I started more ducting work. You know I realize that I shouldnt make the ducting work too customized...if that makes any sense. For instance what if I decide to run a different front bumper? I don't want to have to re work my ducting in order to change bumpers etc. With that said.. I decided to make the ducting in 2 sections. The first section part of my IC/rad set up, and the second section part of my bumper/Aero. But anyways...onto Pics:

first off..got these bad ass gloves...

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1561.jpg
an finally 95% done. Don't have very sturdy bumper mounts yet so everything looks tweaked as the IC wasn't in there straight but Everything will be nice level and symetrical:icon_tup: I also need to pull the lower duct up about 3 inches as it's a little too close to the ground for my liking. But this is what the duct set up will look like for the most part. All that's left is a back side shroud for the IC...possibly Radiator if there is room. The areas to the left and right have been left for brake ducts and a CAI for my Urbo

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1562.jpg

I also had to order another jet kit from AEM for my Water Methanol Injection kit. I accidently sold my elbow with the jet in it to a member here about a year and a half ago:blush:..score for him(gean) shit for me haha because it was 60 damn dollars for something I could've machined. but it did come with a nice new filter so I guess it's worth it. Anyways... I'm slightly limited to where I could put the bung just because the charge piping is so short. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it took some thinking. Then it popped into my head.. my TB had a nice little vac port on it. So I pulled it off and tapped it for my bung.

Little Update:
Got the Down Pipe done....jk jk jk
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1577.jpg
I'm not going to run it like this...for now I wont. I'm going to dump it right under the car midway past the drive shaft. It would really just be so damn loud I wouldn't even be able to start it in the garage without it resonating the whole house. Anyone ever heard a 13b un-corked? sooooooo loud. My exhaust won't be much quieter but i'll eventually get the exhaust figured out.

Anyways.. I worked on the Throttle body fulcrum some.. and decided to just cut off the plate, drill and press out the insert and use the OEM fulcrum. This saved me a baunch-load of money...and seriously only took about 5 min. I'll clean it up a little but It lines up nice and will work just fine =-)

going back into the shop today to get some more work done... hopefully we can get her wrapped up so I can get the car back to my garage and start pulling the carpet, and get some paint and wiring done. Yay fun stuff....NOT haha. Looking forward to my first start!

But yesterday we got the down pipe mocked up and tacked, v-bands attatched, TB fulcrum complete, O2 bungs tacked, throttle cable routed...and.. I think thats all I got done.

ALSO big one.. I need to know where would be a safe place to tap my front cover for my Oil Catch Can.. I have one from the oil filler neck but i need another one on the passenger side of the motor.. Any suggestions or past experience?

Well long story short... decided to bring the car home to get some extra work done on it since all thats really left to fabricate is the bash bar and blending on the turbo flange manifold to turbo side. Other than that.... a bash bar is in the works...but won't take much time at all. So me and johnny got his trailer and picked up the car from the shop and parked her back into my garage.

So I got a little work done on her inthe past couple days...but not as much as i'd like.
Anyways..

I got the Radiator Drain bung welded in the radiator
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1608.jpg
then put the actual drain in there. I spent the extra 3 bucks to get a name brand one from summit racing.. just don't want any crappy leaks haha.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1609.jpg
THen I drilled out the 8 holes I had already had for my Rad/IC mounts and ground down some Nuts so we could weld them into the frame of the car. This didn't take but about 35 min... a good drill and a belt sander worked flawlessly here =-)
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1624.jpg
I think I might have forgotten to take pics of them welded in....but once they were I ground them down just a tad so they sat flush with the frame.

And to add to my pile of parts... these came in =-)
S13 PBM's with built in spacers!! up next their modded angle knuckles!

my car sitting at home after all these months!!
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1665-1.jpg
Then I started working on blending the turbo manifold. The welds on the inside needed a lot of smoothing out.... so I got to work accordingly.

porting table madness
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1676.jpg
I really took my time on these..and I think it showed. Came out well... or at least i'm happy with it haha. And thats just about where I left off...
well I ordered some -10oil line for one of my coolers because the line wasn't long enough in it's newer location to fit.
Also, gave up on trying to fit the OEM fans onto my 23x12" Radiator... I must've spent 3 hours carefully trimming them until I realized that it just wasn't going to work. They're just too wide depth wise.. they after trimming they were still just too bulky...they were crushing my radiator lines... so I said screw it i'll order slim fans

Thanks guys!!

You know it's really not a v-mount at all.. I actually got the idea from the sierra-sierra time attack evo. But I just moved everything as far back as possible to keep everything as close to the center of the car as possible. no more IC hanging over the front end of the car, and no more radiator hanging over in front of the steering rack. Will be cool to see the actual difference in weight distribution when the car actually runs =-) I'm excited to get her finished!! more updates soon!!

Top notch work, I think your intercooler and radiator set up is awesome! I love how short the piping is. And though I'm probably missing something, could you of designed the inlet and outlet ports of the radiator differently so you didn't have to have so much radiator piping snaking around the front of the engine?

Yes, you are correct!! You know I left it long for the time being because i havn't gotten the time to fit my radiator fans. So just looking at it...its a pretty tight fit for coolant lines.. So I wanted to keep the coolant line away from the Turbo housing but if it I made it short... it would hit the fan area.. So i figured why not loop it all the way around so that it cleared both fans and was routed around to the cold side of the engine. I'm still not Certain i'll keep them looped that much..but It does clear the fans now, so it'll most likely stay this way unless I run into clearance issues =-) Thanks for the input!!

Went ahead and sealed the rear fenders again.. I didn't like the clear silicone previously on there...plus there were some gaps where stuff could get in and I didn't want a bunch of dirt/sand/muck getting wedged all inbetween the body panels and the interior panels. I hate when stuff bounces around..or you hit a turn and you hear stuff sliding all around etc.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1778.jpg

After cutting the hood I decided to get to work on the last real components to my set up... Oil/coolant lines for the turbo. So at first I really wanted to do stainless braided lines to keep everything moveable...but I had some spare tube laying around and all I needed was one fitting..so I got to work on some hard lines.
first was the Oil feed...
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1784-1.jpg
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1795.jpg

Then the water feed line
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1786.jpg
and from this angle it looks completely pointless as it looks like there are a bunch of useless bends going this wat and that.. But the horse shoe looking bend under the turbo is for my Oil drain. This way the line's wouldn't have the chance of rubbing or rattling together.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1787.jpg
And lastly, the Water drain. Now i'll have to check the garrett faq page again..but I may have to re-do this line for thermal siphoning. I think Garrett says to take advantage of thermal siphoning the water drain must not be higher than the inlet to the system.. Or was it the highest point in the cooling system? I an't remember....if I got it wrong..i'll have to go ahead and re do the line as best as possible. But there are very limited options as how to route the line already... All the lines will need DEI heat sleeving though... otherwise they'll just get too hot for my peace of mind out there on the track!
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1792.jpg
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1793.jpg
I wasn't able to get the oil drain line done because I am missing the fitting/flange that goes from the block to the line. I'll have to order one asap!!...this line will be - AN10 and stainless braided. Big oil drain is a "need."

Nahh.... It's always been black...and my name is actually Aaron.. I just got screwed by a guy nammed manny once wayyyy back in the honda-tec days so I decided to forever let people know what I thought about the guy haha. The bastard fully built a motor for me and dissappeared. 2 weeks later his shop was absolutely gone..and my car and my motor were at his personal residence which he had just moved into. I got a tip from one of his buddies where it was...so I showed up with a trailer/my pink slip/and a group of big dudes I knew and got my stuff back. He had all my parts on his personal car... knock-off's on mine.. so we took it all back =-) luckily I got my stuff back but that guy built motors for people I knew and they were all left in the dust. Not sure what his last name was exactly..but his first name is manny and he's a short little phillipino dude who builds Honda motors. I hope none ofyou guys know him or a part of anything he does. Karma will have it's way with that guy

I wish I could give you guys one but truthfully... that shit never works out and I end up just being disappointed because I didn't make my deadline haha. I will make this years Thunder on the lot drift event, All star bash, and I have if I don't get to balcony within the next 6 months I may as well call it quits hahaha.

Switching ECU's soon... going with a New system: Adaptronic... the Aussies developed for Fd's... its seriously the real business for fd's. Talk about Artificial Intelligence.... plug in and start up!!! and I no longer need an EBC as the built in unit is excellent. I'll explain later.

more updates soon!! Thanks for the comments guys!!!

Update:

So I finally got everything mechanical solid enough to say that I'm about 99% done as far as motor parts go. I pretty much have all parts necessary for start up.

So it's was time to pull the motor and re-install my Exedy twin disc pressure plate. The wedge clip and ring were bad....bent or something and they wouldn't hold. Everytime the clutch was pushed in it would just pop out. So I got a new one off a forum member and installed it.

ANd I forgot to take pics of it back on...but whatever..it looks the same..but now it holds =-)

So since the motor is out I decided it would be time to paint the engine bay. Now i'm really struggling with color choice. I could go with matt black...which is really boring..but it'll be clean. Or I could go with gloss black..but ...it would still be kinda plain. Either way I'm going to be doing it myself. I don't have a paint gun or anything so i'm just going to be using high quality ceramic paint. And after seeing how well the paint on my sub-frame and suspension arms has held up against grease..power steering fluid, and brake cleaner...i've decided to use the same high quality spray can stuff over self etching primer. Hopefully it comes out good.

Brake cleaned engine bay. Going to give it the one over with simple green then get to masking it all off. http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1825.jpg

Hey gordon I ordered my paint and the lady at the paint shop knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do/what I needed. It came out to $115.00 for 1 can of silver base, 2 cans of the Candy Hot Pink, and 1 can of acrylic clear. Took pics of the labels for you!

ANd you guys guys are going to kill me....and I'm not %100 about my color choice..but It was an impulse decision which led me to my color choice change. I'm no longer doing black... The New color is HOT pink in tribute to the Dragon Performance drift fd. I love that car..and even if it doesn't flow with my black and gold theme.. oh well. THe car will still move and ;-)

So after quite a bit of thinking... I decided to go ahead and sell my Apexi Power FC. It was great and I never had anything but smooth running with it but it's just time to move to a much simpler, much more capable engine management system.

So i'm pleased to announce that I've done quite a bit of research over the past couple, and i've decided to go with the new Adaptronic Plug and Play FD3s system.

I could go on and on about why...but I came across these questions and answers and figured they touched all the things I was worried about, wanted to know about etc..

1) There is no need for a datalogit($300+ unit), the adaptronic uses a generic supplied USB cable to access every portion of the ECU

2) There is an internal 4 bar map sensor you can select if you wish, instead of paying $150 + to upgrade to a 3 bar with PFC

3) You can switch on the fly between maps( 1 street, vs 1 track map etc)

4) Closed loop tuning with a wideband. The PFC only uses the OEM narrow-band to do closed loop tuning during cruise. The adpatronic when parred with a wideband o2 sensor can self tune itself all of the time, even in boost. Same goes for idle control, and transient throttle( throttle response)

5) The adptronic has VE tuning, the PFC does not. VE tuning is what all new cars, and new ECUS use. You input the fuel injector size, engine size, injector dead band timing, and its a much easier, linear and faster way to a better tune. The injector staging between primary and secondaries is also automated, you never have to touch this( PFC has similar, but not as complete).

6) You can listen to knock through a set of regular headphones if you have the OEM knock sensor hooked up. This is a big plus when dyno tuning. The PFC does not have this.

7) Data-logging function is a lot easier to use on the adaptronic, the PFC takes some practice and one has to be more familiar with the software to do so.

8)If you want to change to the FFE trigger you can with the adaptronic, you cannot with the PFC

9) if you ever want to upgrade to individual coils like the AEM units, you can run each coil seperately. You have to run wasted spark with the PFC. This drops coil output.

10) if you ever want to use E85, there are closed loop tuning available. Just add a flex sensor.

11) you can do a push to pass cockpit switch for track cars( temporarily increase boost when pushed).

12) you can do boost control based on transmission gearing( uses the OEM factory tranny sensors). All you need is a boost solenoid hooked to the ECU, and you can set max boost based on each gear. For example, 10 psi in 1st, and 2nd, then 15psi in 3rd, and 20psi in 4th/5th.

13) better boost control, has a entire map. Add a $90 sensor and you have a electronic boost controller

14) the ECU is compatible with most display dashes, like the RacePak. PFC is not compatible.

15) This unit can cut the ignition in increments of 1% which gives you a gradual torque reduction for traction control, PFC doesn't have any sort of traction control.

I placed my order tonight!!! should come in pretty soon here and once the motor is ready to crank over... Adaptronic will now take care of business!!!

I'll have to check them out.. I think i'm going to be taking my car to my buddy for the exterior though. Hellbound customs. He does rat rods and older rods...but all of his cars end up looking really nice. Plus I trust him...and thats a hard thing to say for a lot of shops out here.

ANyways...

The pink came out great. Not completely done yet..but I did take my thumb nail to a part of the dried paint that no one would see.. and guys...this stuff is really hard. I put a lot of pressure on it..scraping my nail across the pink...and it really held up. No scratch that I could see..and I'm not even positive the paint was done drying completely. Little Update:

Sooo I got 2 more cans of pink and was able to finish up the paint job last night. You know...after doing this... theres no way in hell i'll paint again. I just don't have the patience for it. But I guess this is what doing it yourself is about right? finding out what you like and don't enjoy doing. ...and paint.. I don't like doing haha. I'm glad I did it, but I just don't want to do it again.

The paint looks good...but there are a couple light spots.... like by the frame rails on the passenger side trans tunnel and by the brake booster. Luckily you won't see this areas but I'll try to touch up these areas as best as possible. The acrylic clear really laid on nice and smooth. I was surprised at how good it came out. Check it out!!

Also... The Adaptronic should come in here in about 2-3 weeks right when everything should be ready to go and the ready for the first start. If anyone here has any questions about the Adaptronic.. post away. i've become pretty familiar with many of the features and If i don't knwo I'll find out. The Adaptronic's support team is really next to non!! I feel like I have my own personal engine management team haha.

I also ordered a Innovate MTX-L wideband to pair with it..and it just straight plugs right into the adaptronic.

Also on order...is the AEM Marine coils and harness i'll be running. Looking forward to getting this thing started and driving and burning some rubber!!

ooooo and lastly.. my housing to turbo manifold studs came in... THey're OEM but they are a little long and with long studs.. sometimes removing the manifold in the bay becomes a haslte.. So I may end up using shorter studs on the top.. we'll see. Anyways... Updates soon!

apx. how much do you think you spent on material for spray painting the bay? im debating i got some one to spray mine with a gun for $300. but if rattle can is less then $100 ill probably do that..

Mannykiller
02-05-2013, 10:35 AM
Well I spent about 150 total for the following:

4 Cans of Pink
1 Can of Silver Base
1 Can of Acrylic Clear

The Pro's:
Its cheaper, especially if you don't have a spray gun
I used News paper and tin foil to mask stuff off... Already had masking tape
Paint actually dries hard and is pretty dang tough. Won't run when brake cleaner hits it. Although i wouldn't recommend spraying brake cleaner straight onto it and rubing it.

Cons:
Sounds dumb..but truthfully my finger hurts from constantly having to push the top down to get spray. (the next day my finger wasn't visually bruised..but it felt like it)
You need to be careful and prepring is very very important. I recommend doing the same amount of prep work as you would a professional job. So if you think you cleaned it well enough... you probly didnt. Mine crinkled in a few areas and this being my first time really painting anything of substantial importance... kinda was a bummer..but it'll be covered by some heat barrier material anyhow. But still sucks that to fix it i'd need to sand it down completely in that area...primer..paint..and clear over it ya know?

Over-all... if you have less than 200 bucks and no paint gun/resources to use a gun and you've never done it before.... then use these paints. AV Auto Paint can actually ship you these same cans.. and believe me... it's worth it.

But if you have over 300 to spend on paint..then go ahead and go the gun route. pressing down on the can is a pain and you really have to watch the spray tip of the can to make sure it doesn't accumulate on the tip and splatter. I carried a little rag to wipe it down every few passes. Also make sure you spray consistently and evenly. The light spots could've been avoided if I would've done a bonefied 1st coat, 2nd coat...3rd coat etc. But other than that.. live and learn and yes I'm happy with how it came out. It's not a show car anyhow. Just needed something that would look good and protect the metal while I burn rubber =-)

not much of an update besides parts ordered:

Adaptronic Plug and Play engine management
Innovate MTX-L Wideband
AEM Marine coils and Harness from C. Ludwig

The paint seems to be curing a little slower than I had expected because it's been on the chilly side. Wondering if it would be ok to use a heat gun lightly over it just to cycle it? We'll see. But Wrapped my Down pipe with Mishimoto exhaust wrap. I was going to use the DEI titanium wrap but the Mishimoto had a much higher Direct Heat Contact temp so I ended up going with them. Besides that... I kept finding myself looking at the DP and really admiring how visually appealing it was haha. Wrapped the WG dump tubes as well.

Hey no problem..... I've always liked Mishimoto products. Used them on my last build almost 8 years ago with no problems =-)

Yea you know it crossed my mind but It would be a shame to ruin the whole paint job because I was impatient. Maybe I'll roll it out of the garage this weekend during the day and just let it sit in the sun sat and sunday.

That sounds like the best plan. Keep an eye on the weather radar just in case. I had a freak rainstorm (gorgeous sunny day) ruin some paint on a Miata hard top. Though your paint will likely be hard enough by then.

After the paint is dry is the motor ready to back in?

^ I'd definitely keep an eye on it! ....although I live in a pretty damn calm nice neighborhood I still wouldn't leave the car out unless I was home.

And yes as soon as it's dry i'll be putting the motor back together for final installation, making sure everything is nice and toite... All my fuil fittings need to be properly tightened and exhaust gaskets sealed up. Lots to do!!! Still need to drop my manifold off to have the turbo flange machined 100% flat,...nothing worse than annoying exhaust leaks. Then fluids, oil, evans NPG coolant, wiring my fuel pumps in, waiting for my ECU, and whatever else pops up hahaha. Getting pretty damn close to start up though!! =-)

Onto small updates... had to take friday off work....was practically unable to get out of bed upon the weekend and took monday and tuesday off work as well. Just started feeling better this morning and I actually felt much better. So halfway through the day I decided take a walk around the block. It was pretty nice out and I didn't faint from dizzyness haha...so I figured I was ok enough to sit down and work on some small motorbits I'd been meaning to get started.

First stated by really cleaning off my motor. All the dusty crap etc was blown off via compressed air and then I took some brake cleaner to some stains the motor had accumilated over the past year or so haha. So now that the engine bay paint is all dry and hard I decided to get things ready for final assembly. Since I no longer have my cross member installing the motor with the trans is even easier now =-)

So took me a good 15 min to find all my LIM bolts I had originally put away somewhere..but I found them. Gasket, LIM, Bolts.... Whaa...laaah

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1879_zps42a51a26.jpg
Tightened up my Oil filler neck nice and secure so I didn't forget later on and also found 2 of the 3 missing bolts that held on my Power Steering bracket and secured them on nice and tight as well...heres a better look at it it.

small update:

Well if there are a few things you absolutely need in a track drift car....it's a good seat and a correctly set up LSD. So While the motor and transmission are out of the car.....again. I got under there and removed my Diff Pumpkin with the TII Clutch type LSD in it. This Diff probly would've lasted me quite a while But THM motorsport had the black friday deal on their Carbonetic LSD's this past new years for Cheap.

I got their Metal 2-way. I was surprised how quickly I was able to get the pumpkin out but I did smash my finger on the last leg because it slipped off the jack stand and I tried to catch it. Wasn't bad just skinned it a little...but finger and knuckle bruises are annoying.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1891_zpsbfd0ac7b.jpg
Got the diff cover off and the pinon off and decided I just didn't feel comfortable setting this diff up. That And It has no bearings on it. So I took the whole thing in to Yarmin Driveshafts. He's local and a business thats been around for years out here in the AV. He's going to press new bearings on the new Carbonetic unit and set the backlash and seal up the pumpkin for me so I can simply put gear oil in there and bolt her back in. Here's the Pumpkin opened up with the old TII clutch type Diff in it. Currently for sale..
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1892_zps21bae74c.jpg
Should be picking up the Diff Friday night.. may or may not put it in at night and then I get my manifold back from the machine shop saturday. Then I can really get cracking putting the motor and transmission back in.

Update: "VENT"

So you know that little voice in the back of your head that tells you something is "off?" Well I should've listened to it because today I feel really taken advantage of.

Well as all of you guys know I took my Carbonetic 2way Diff into a "professional" shop because I just didn't feel comfortable setting the backlash on it. So I eptied the pumpkin of my old diff and took the new diff and the eptied out pumpkin into a local shop out here called "Yarmin Drive-Shafts." I've heard the name all over the place growing up out here and I actually went to school with the guys daughter. So it all started like this. I called them up and asked them how much they charge to set the backlash on differentials...then continued to tell them exactly what type of diff it is. The guy replied with " sorry man It doesn't really sound like you know what your talking about. If you bring it in we can take care of you." So It kinda made me think about it negatively but figured maybe it was just an older guy who wasn't so hip on lingo or the brand in general <---yea red flag and stupid me for ignoring it. So I take the diff in and ask the guy for a quote.. he tells me 20 bucks a pop for brand new bearings and out the door i'm looking at 130 to 180 bucks. Immediately I thought that was too much for just setting the backlash but figured they needed to press new carrier bearings on there and it was a professional shop so I guess that's not un-realistic. But for someone who does things on their own and could probly set the diff exactly the way I wanted if I just watched it done once...that was a lot. But I figured..oh well..its a professional job. Red flag # 2 and again i'm an idiot for not pulling out. So I go in there today and the guy says the debit machine isn't working.. we tried it and it didn't go through.. so I had to go get cash. I went to the ATM and pulled out 200 bucks and went back to Yarmin Drive Shafts. The guy say's that'll be $258.00 ......I was like...HUH? So I said....."Hey man what happened to the 130-180 you Quoted me yesterday?" He said well That was until It was nearly impossible to find bearings that fit that Differential, he called carbonetic, and looked all over the place online and the only thing that fit were the bearings from a toyota pickup. He said him and the other mechanic spent the whole morning looking for a bearings that fit. I got kinda pissed but of course didn't want to leave my stuff there and paid the guy. I drove home pissed...and called my girlfriend which i'm pretty sure she knows the whole damn story by heart at this point..and bi***** about it even more! But I got home and go to install the diff and for no other reason than just being the person I am... I grabbed a cover bolt and shockingly...it was hardly even finger tight. So I went over all of them and they were all ONLY finger tight. I was like WTF is up with that?! So the shop was closed already by this time but I was pissed and usually I kinda get my bearings in order and calm down when I work on my car. It's kinda like therapy in a way. But I just kept getting more and more pissed. I installed the diff and just didn't put any fluids in but when I was finished I started to wonder if the guy even Torque'd down anything for that matter...or even if he set the backlash correctly. So at this point I left the diff where it is...I can always pull the cover off of it while its in the car and go over them with a Torque wrench but i'm wondering if I should call and complain or just Let it be known that this shop definitely took advantage of the wrong customer.. what do you guys think?!

i would take it back and bitch, you paid $250 for a complete job and come home to a half ass one, make sure they go over it and give everything the ok and torqued down

Yeah man I would rip that out and check everything. you don't want to blow that new diff. Should have only been $150 tops and that would include tracking down a bearing.

^ Yea you know guys it's really eating away at me. So I talked to a buddy of mine who went through something similar and by law the shop is supposed to provide me with a written quote, and then if anything differs from that they're supposed to call and get my consent for it. I called yesterday but of course they were closed. I'm going to call over there tomorrow if they're open and go over some things with the guy. But At this point i'm considering everything a loss.

Good news though is I finally had time to work on the Radiator Cooling fan mounts.

there were a few different ways we coud've gone about doing it but we opted for the easiest route. Which was going to home depot and purchasing 1/2" Alum Bar stock.

Cutting 8x 1" long pieces...cleaning them up, putting them on the lathe and putting holes in the middle of them to mount with bolts through them. Nice easy/compact and secure. I cut all the mounts, Bj did all the welding as always.

Put some blue marking die on the manifold flanges to make sure they are nice and straight. I hate exhaust leaks.. The Motor/flange side came out nice and straight. The Turbo side Needs machining. Which is what we are doing today.

Update:

Well I spent quite a long time this weekend making everything was nice and tight. You wouldn't believe how long this takes. All the little bolts you un-do to get other things off the car need to be put back on. I keep all my bolts pretty organized so it's not a matter of finding all the bolts. It's just the time to put everything back together, and have it assembled and ready to run.

So first up was making sure the Turbo side flange of the turbo manifold was nice and straight. Here are a couple process pictures. You can see the blue slowly shrinking these were low spots. If I had to do it again....i'd probly just buy a nicer flange haha.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1911_zpse9365bd9.jpg
smaller still
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1912_zps89155602.jpg
And I totally messed up and didn't take a picture of the flange totally flat..but It took a while to get it nice and flat. Anyways i'm sure you guys get the point...it no longer has blue on it hah.
The motor side flange was perfectly straight already so we didn't even need to touch it. But you take a straight edge file and run it along the whole thing. You can see the low spots because the blue die doest scratch off. Hope sean at A spec is doing ok..last time I heard he was going through some family health problems. But he sold me this flange...and it's a very nice piece.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1896_zpsf7905197.jpgAfter that I was able to bring the manifold home and Install it. Nice Low mileage OEM exhaust flanges. Was going to use super Copper on them to help seal them further..but seriously.. I don't think that stuff would hold up to the task.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1913_zpsbd117f2e.jpg
Anyways... after the manifold was on I put the trans on a bucket and positioned the motor with the hoist nice and level.. It was pretty easy mouting them up this way. Took less than 5 min.

I also was able to mount the turbo and gasket..now the gasket is pretty off So I'm going to purchase another one. Anyone have a good source? Probly just going with one from ATP turbo. I don't really think the inconel ones are worth the money as I've never really had problems with ATP ones.
Anyways...The motor goes in.. Much easier with the cross member out of the way. Also plugged up the trans driveshaft hole so no trans fluid would seap out...thats annoying. It's empty but there is still some small amount in there.
So here she's in

Then I got under the car and pulled the diff case off to check the Torque on my diff because Yarmin Driveshafts Totally Ripped me off. Damn Bastards..i need to call over there today again...258 bucks for a half ass crap job....I'll Never ever go there again and i'm going to detere everyone I can from that hack job of a shop.
Installed the HPP 2-1 Diff brace after I checked the Torque on the carrier bearings. And what do you know... Loose as a Effing Goose. I'll say it again...BASTARDS. Seriously Blows my mind. Good thing was there was actually dye from the contact test for the backlash and it looked and feels good, so at least that was done correctly. But who even knows if these are new bearings or not?! So to all of you who might not have caught it.... Yarmin Driveshafts is a Shady Business that does Half Ass work. Worst part was it was the Owner who did it...pfft..anyways onto more positive things..
Installed Nice and Toight.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1939_zpsf9022dbd.jpg
Installed my fans on the Radiator... these mishimoto slim fans save me all sorts of space..although the CFM rating is a bit low I really don't think i'll have any problems with keeping cool. Cfm rating is roughly 1700-1800 CFM for the both of them total.

Also Installed my catch can and Rywire Engine Harness...going to send it back to him so he can switch the TPS plug. Also, I made a mistake... i'm only running One Knock sensor... And Oil and Water Temp sensors will be run seperately. Unsure of what brand to go with, I like the Defi units..but I hate the idea of having to have a control box along-side ya know? We'll see.
It was a lot easier to get the Water and oil lines on with the motor out of the car...there was only one that I really needed to install while the motor was out of the car... the water drain.
But here's the motor Installed in all it's glory. Put the I/C on just for kicks. Still need to run vac lines to the Wastegates but they're installed along with the Down-pipe

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1942_zps8d4b5c24.jpg

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1945_zps960f991d.jpg

I was also able to re-use my OEM power steering Hardline that i've kept this whole time. I was going to replace it but I like having the extra "looped" line. I am thinking about adding a little Cooler to the mix though. More on that later. It fit nicely in the pocket and didn't need to move or mod anything to mount it securely etc.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1948_zpse9b59572.jpg
Once that was done I got carried away with making sure everything was secure and tight under the car. Found my sway bar bolts loose, one Radiator hose loose, radiator drain opened up in the "drain" position and a couple other little bolts that needed to be tightened.
Then I finally got around to fully installing my ABS delete Kit from A-rod. It's a nice little kit. But I've noticed that I may be over-tightening things. I hate leaks..and sometimes I find myself what seems like over-tightening fittings. I'm not exactly how tight these brake line fittings need to be but I got them pretty damn tight.
anyways...pic:

So Brake system just needs Fluid now. What fluids are you guys using?
Filled Power steering fluid back up but still need a little more.
About to Order Motor fluids if I could find a vendor that everything I need.
diff gear oil & addative
Transmission fluid
Motor oil: synthetic

But when I get home today I'm going to install the Dual EGT's because I didn't get around to doing that yesterday. I also need to get on making a little mounting plate for the dual PBM Digital EGT guages. Lots to do... Just gonna keep plugging away at the list! More updates soon!

Little Update:
went ahead and re-did my ABS delete lines. I really didn't like the way they were routed and they'll get in the way of where I'm going to end up mounting my AEM coils. So I used the banjo fittings to get them in more accessible place....but still out of the way.

I thought I took a picture of the end product but I guess I forgot. Finally got arount to installing the EGT probes...but then when I was done I found a curious little brass collar on the ground and I could've sworn I saw the same one on the inside of the EGT coupler that fastens it securely in place when you tighten in. Much like a swiveling An fitting. And now that I think of it...it makes sense why it wasn't getting tight hah. So i'll have to pull out the Front housing bung and put the little brass collar back in place.....damn pain hah.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG1962_zps13031cf3.jpg
Got around to getting a brass fitting for my Brake booster as well. I'm going to cut off the ugly prong and put a nice -6 fitting on there so the line doesn't shoot straight up and arc all retarded like hah. But till I get my tap tonight or tomorrow i'll have to keep it the way it is. I also need to figure out some type of Vac-block so that I'll have a source for the map sensor etc. I really want to get 2 little Vac-ports welded onto my LIM so that I can perform steam cleans easily. The OEM one has 2 perfect little nipples that were convieniently placed which made steam cleans really easy. The excessive one has none..i'll have to figure out what i'm going to do with that. Also, need to get a little pump and hose to fill my trans/diff lubes so I don't spill. I hate spilling that stuff. Theres really a lot to do...... I need to re-wire my fuel pumps...was thinking of doing exactly what tom (theorie) did with his set-up as it seems pretty legit and fail-safe. And the only major thing I really need to complete....which I keep putting off is Pulling the carpet removing the Sound deadening and installing my Body harness.. I guess it's not a small task. But It's something I really want to get done. As some of you may know I got started on installing the Body harness about 5 months ago but then the guy that was helping me kinda went MIA...and when I looked at the harness.....it was completely hacked. I had no idea where he was, what he'd moved and anything he'd done to the harness so I ended up sourcing an un-touched harness and decided i'd start over on my own. It'll be time consuming but better that I do it and know where everything is than someone else ya know? So with that said....i'm much closer...but there is still lots to do before I can start the car. Then it has to look good as well... haha. Speaking of which...the Advan TCIII's are on order for my fronts. The offsets are kinda crappy but nothing spacers won't take care of. I went with 18x9.5 +45 in Dark Gunmetal. The rears are already on the car 18x11+20. ...Stay tuned for Updates!

little Update:

Ended up pulling the rear housing EGT bung off and sure enough the small little brass collar fit right on the bung and sunk down into the fastener. Re-installed it and now it's ready to go. Just need to do my switch panel now with the digital guages and wire them up. I'll get to that later.
I somehow lost one copper nut for my turbo to manifold stud so I'll have to get another one.

But I'm waiting for the following Items to come in:
Diff fluid
Friction Modifier
Trans gear oil
Motor Oil
Brake Fluid
Power Steering Fluid
Case of Pre-mix =-)
AEM Smart Coils and harness
Sake Bomb Plug wires
Full Function Engineering Trigger Wheel
Rywire Harness (modified TPS & Plug)
Innovate MTX-L Wideband & input cable for ECU
Boost Solenoid
Brake Booster push in adapter fitting
Advan TCiii 18x9.5 +45 (fronts)

Kind of a hefty list.....and a damn expensive one too. But the parts are necessary to get my girl running =-)

List of things to get done this weekend:

- If fluids are delivered I'll fill them all
- Bleed brakes
- Clutch
- Power Steering
-------------------------

- Modify Oil cooler brackets to mount them lower with less angle
- Pull Dash and Carpet
- Waste-Gate Vac-lines
- Get started on Body Harness
- Figure out Vacuum set-up
and anything else that I need to get done hah

Update:

Well this weekend I got to spend a little time working on the big list of things to do.

I started off with re-positioning my oil coolers. They were mounted yes..but they were angled outward and too high. I'd rather them be nice and flat and in the direct path of flow. It get's really hot out here in the desert so Ducting will be made for them as well as mounting 2 10" fans on the back side of the coolers. This should really help battle the heat in 100+ degree weather.
But I picked up a new front bumper from a buddy...thanks John!
Vertex vs Burnout...good thing is the oil coolers now sit nice and square with both bumpers

Also pulled all the carpet out. This was a decision maker for me... I originally wanted to pull the disgusting tan carpet, and get all the sound deadening out...which I was actually told that it was gone by the previous owner over 4 years ago when I got the car..but No...Its definitely all there. But After pulling the carpet I decided it would be much smarter just to get the car running, and then round 2 of the build will include Interior Paint, Cage etc. I may or may not work on the sound deadening. We'll see how I feel, but I do have a lot to get done just to get the car running. Plus I still have to decide if I'm going pink or black or something else on the interior...this will give me time to decide. First things first.. Get it running and drive =-)
Pulled the dash and ditched the AC unit. Not going to be running it...but I will have the Heater because I love heat in the cold..and the defroster is a MUST especially on cold track days

Even though I got some stuff done.. I still feel like I didn't get enough done. I am content with my progress though and I should be getting all my fluids which I'm looking forward to filling up the car with today. I have a big list of things to do..still need side skirts to complete the kit. ..........and waiting and waiting and waiting for parts. Going to pull the sound deadening under the dash Install the body harness and then install the dash. Looks like it'd be much easier to route while the dash is out of the way. Also, I think I'll be attending a meet this next month on the 23rd. My buddies from Pogi Fresh really want the car there and they offered to send a flat bed just to have the car there... so I said yes and whether it's running or not the car will be there =-) Shows really arent my thing but it'll be nice to do something with the car after all this time haha.

Little Update:

so I was able to finish removing the Sound deadening with the dry ice. I used 1 block the first day, and got 2 more blocks the second day. Some people have reported using 60-100 Lbs of dry ice to complete this? ....I don't know about all that..but I had a pretty good method which I'll explain real quick.

Sound Deadening Removal with Dry Ice:

You will need the following:

* 3-5 Blocks of Dry Ice (most readily found at Albertsons grocery store)
* A flat headed Chisel
* A Rubber Mallet or hammer if your ghetto and angry lol
* A good set of decently thick gloves (required for my method because I use the Dry ice in more than one location.

Method:
Once everything is clear from the sound deadening areas.....

step 1 - Put a block of dry ice into a couple plastic bags and keep it in it's package.

step 2 - Smash it on the ground till all the big pieces are small and a lot of it is granule sized

step 3 - Spread the dry ice powder/small pieces over designated sound deadening. Thoroghly cover it as depcted in the pic below:
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2000_zps9a3bc0e0.jpg
the better you cover it the easier/quicker it will start creaking and cracking.

step 5 - wait till the sound deadening starts creaking and cracking (this is how you know it is working because it is contracting from the change in temperature and seperating from the floor panel)

step 6 - Hit the sound deading evenly pretty hard but not hard enough to dent the floor panel.... all over it. You will hear either a dull thud..which prob means you need to wait longer or you will hear a slight "slapping" sound which means the sound deadening has lifted from the floor pan and is ready to be chizeled. The longer you wait...(5 min compared to 10-12 min) the easier the deadening comes up and in larger pieces. Believe me it's worth the patience.

step 7 - put your gloves on (they should already be on this whole time) and move the dry ice to the next panel of sound deadening. While you pull this one off the left over dry ice can be used more than once on a different location =-)

step 8 - Use the flat headed chizel working at a broad edge and tap it with the rubber mallet. If you covered the deadening good enough with dry ice and let it sit for long enough the whole panel should just pop off in 1-3 or 4 big pieces. If it's breaking in tiny pieces.. re-cover with dry ice and wait longer.

step 9 - For the lateral areas where the sound deading does not sit on a flat level surface...put dry ice in a plastic bag and I used mounting holes and existing bolts and screws to just "hang" the bag against these areas. It worked like a charm...just had to wait a few min more.

step 10 - Use Mineral spirits or brake cleaner to get the left over goo off of the floor pan or any areas the sound deadening left residue.

Other than that...don't get frustrated. A few areas I was just trying to get little pieces off and ended up digging into the floor panel a little bit with my chizel.

Also little update:

Finished removing the sound deading from the interior of the car

Here is a quick pic before I removed the goo like tar stuff left from the Deadening but you get the Idea
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2001_zps6cac54aa.jpg

So after forcing myself to wait till round 2 of the build (to paint and do the Fd legal Cage) I can re-install the Dash and start looking to build a little guage/switch panel for my oil cooler fans etc.

Also... you know sometimes when you don't know what to do so you start messing with things?...well I didn't like how little thread was on my turbo flange stud/nut so I was went to remove it to even the thread spacing/nut coverage out and the damn thing snapped just backing it out. I was like...son of a B.. But I guess better now than later. Also ran into a small problem. The manifold support brace is a little too close to the stud nut.. it doesn't allow me to get a socket around it...which is annoying. It's just a tad off so I'm going to take a dremel to it today to get the extra space needed to get the socket around it. Also need to go pick up a new stud now. Cleaned and Vacuumed out the interior and it looks much better. Sucks that I have to leave it all blotchy like this till I paint/POR-15 the interior But I need to get the car running sooner than later. Paint and cage can waite a month or so.

Also recieved my fan clips for my Oil Cooler Fans....Thanks so much to John at Mishimoto for taking care of me!!!!!
More updates later today

Little Update:

Tomei Differential gear oil and Torco friction modifier along with Brake and Power steering fluid came in yesterday. Filled the power steering up, Filled the Brake res up and Half Bled the brakes just to get fluid into the lines until I have someone to help me bleed the system thoroughly, and Filled the Differential fluid. I used a bottle with some old Fuel line attatched with a worm clamp on the plastic cap to fill the diff up. Worked excellent and didn't spill a drop.

small update: nothing big...

But I started to bleed the clutch but realized it was pointless without an extra person. I actually used the gusset holes in the frame on the floor and a metal bar to start bleeding the brakes but it just took too long and was a hell of a process so I ended up quitting pre-materly haha. I'll just wait till someone can step on the pedal and I can sit under the car on the bleeder.

So I need to go over a couple Vacuum diagrams to figure out exactly how i'm going to run my vacuum block lines to it etc. Here's a pic of it. E-bay special.. saved about 25 bucks over the next option and this one came with all these fittings, mounting hardware and extra plugs etc
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2010_zps8c1d5e6b.jpg

And lastly...I noticed a small little puddle of fluid under the car and had no idea where it was coming from until I followed it all the way up the drivers side trans tunnel and found the source...Brake fluid. Seems as if the new hose I put on the clutch pedal side of the brake resevoir wasn't tight enough with the generic clamp. I should've put a worm clamp on it from the beginning..so I did and fixed that. I guess it's a good thing it's taking a little bit to get the car finished because it gives the car and all my mistakes time to surface hah.

So I have a diagram for the boost control solenoid to wastegates But i'n gonna need to talk to the wird about exactly how to hook up the synapse gates for optimum consistency.

ALso what do you guys think about this for my Vacuum block routing.

UIM Port to Vacuum Block via largest of 2 ports (-10 in size)
2nd -10 Port on Vacuum Block to Brake Booster Check valve fitting

Vacuum Block small ports:
BOV
Map Sensor
AEM Water/Meth Controller

And i'm unsure if I should add a port on the back of the turbo compressor housing as another source. Or if I should run the Wastegates to the block or to the boost solenoid seperately.

Any Input would be very appreciated!! thanks guys!

Not sure if I posted this already But I got a vacuum block off E-bay. It was 25 bucks shipped and came with extra port plugs, and mounting gear etc. Next closest option was twice as much....So I took a chance and i'm glad I did because the piece is nice..the fittings are nice and sturdy as well and I saved 20 bucks.

And i'm still looking for a neat place to put the AEM water meth controller... ran the Vac line to the block.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2021_zps18985493.jpg
drilled and tapped the compressor housing and used one of the extra vacuum fittings that came with the block. used a 1/8 tap. Wish there were a little bit neater place to run the Line to the Boost Control Solenoid but it was this or running the line too close for comfort next to the turbo hot side.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2040_zps72c19bb6.jpg
Ran Fuel Pressure Regulator and BOV vac as well. I'm going to label the Vacuum block so I know which line goes where, .....it's super obvious but just for piece of mind. I also used Honda-Bond high temp rtv on all the fittings I used on the Vacuum block and also Zip Tied all the Lines on the fittings just to make sure none of them pop off unexpectedly.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2041_zpsba46cf07.jpg
And here's a pic of the AEM boost control Solenoid mounted. Used the little left over tab on the passenger side firewall. W/G lines ran and T'd to the Boost control solenoid via instructions. Running the gates with the Internal routing as A few people have told me this worked best for the gates.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2022_zps60b314cb.jpg

Need to run the ecu vac line when I install the Adaptronic and I'll have 2 Ports on the Vac block left. One for the Boost gauge and the other will be extra. So i'll plug it with one of the supplied allen plugs. The AEM coils came in from Chris Ludwig and he did an excellent job on the Harness. I just need to come up with a nice way to mount it. I like the idea of having the coils all in line but at the same time I'd like them to be packaged a little more compact. We'll see. Going to work on that in the next couple days along with the Body Harness.

Nice to have a little back stock. I have enough pre-mix for a looooong time haha. Full case of it! Enough oil for another 2 changes as well. And enough diff fluid for the break in and first change.

Pic of the TPS sensor...guess I could've had some raychem put on it..but kinda slipped my mind in the jist of getting a lot of things done at once...

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2047_zpsa8b92139.jpg
So last night I was in bed... not able to eat and decided to eat a bowl of cereal. Good ol' captain cruch berries. Ate the cereal and decided I wasn't tired. Suited up and filled the Transmission up with fluid, Motor up with Oil and even filled up my oil coolers so I won't have to top it off as much. With the dual 25 Row Mocal coolers and lines my bone dry system drank 4 full quarts and i'm estimating it'll hold another 1/3rd quart in my lines.

Hey quick Question....what size TAP is the OEM IAT sensor? going to tap the UIM for it today. Also... I read that "dudemananswer" was selling fast reacting IAT's for cheap... anyone know if he's still around?

Moving along!...updates soon!

And this is where I left off for the night..."motor assembly wise."
TPS installed
Throttlebody Installed with AEM Water/meth nozzle
Throttle cable installed..may need a new cable..this one is crap
Drilled and tapped UIM for IAT and installed
All engine Harness plugs now fit and are installed on correct plugs
trigger wheel kit installed
Vac-block fully sealed up with one extra plug and port for ECU ready
Sake Bomb Garage Plug wires installed to coils but still need mounting bracket

So today I'll install my ECU and put the dash back in the car, and get started on the worst part.. the body harness wiring. Going to hate this entirely. Wish I had someone to come help me with this part...not looking forward to it in any way.

Yea I think a lot of people really don't understand how long all the little things take on a build. I mean you can have all the new parts all day long...but it's the little things that take time. I'm still not so impressed with how i've routed a few things and wish I could re-do them. Stuff like drilling and tapping the UIM for the IAT sensor. Well it's not just drilling and tapping. Its taking the manifold off the car, matching the sensor with the correct Tap, finding the correct drill. Drilling the manifold without scratching the eff out of it on a secure surface. Measureing how much play you'll have from your wiring harness to the sensor so you don't tap the hole too far away for the harness to reach. So mocking up the manifold again. Making a mark. Then drilling, then tapping, then really really cleaning the manifold because there can't be any little shavings or pieces of metal inside the manifold otherwise your brand new engine will eat them and possibly ruin everything. After the cleaning it's finally time to install the sensor. I use honda bond high temp rtv on the threads of the IAT sensor to ensure there are no leaks. Install it, make sure it's nice and toight. Then finding a nice neat route to the hole so your harness isn't overlapping a million hosses etc.. plug the sensor in and then install the UIM. All while making sure not to drop anything big or small into the Lower Intake manifold ports because they are completely open all the way till the rotor housing (remember no valves). Anything falls in there and game over. Not to rant..because I actually enjoy all the steps that go into such a small task of installing a IAT sensor into an aftermarket UIM that doesn't have a port. But These little things take time. Just the sensor install took me about 45 min. And then On top of that you run into tiny little hiccups.. such as the fact that the LIM rear most bolt hole happened to strip out halfway (baught it used and previous owner must've used a bolt that was too short). But everything takes time.... It's something you don't think about when you first start building a car, or people who have never attempted larger installs, motor swaps, or builds themselves don't think about. It's just... put the turbo on and start itup. Nahhh....lots of stuff that goes into it. But I love it all... and believe me I'm on it.... Hoping to making this years Thunder on the Lot Drift (mick Friel's) event and ASB!!! Updates soon!

this makes me want to get a FD so bad!

Nothing stopping you. But I'll tell you right now everything is so much mroe expensive for fds. For instance... I wanted to get some craft square mirrors. The FD units were some 600 dollars when I was looking into them. The same EXACT mirrors but for a Honda CRX were 350.00 Shipped. I got the CRX mirrors and retro-fitted them as the mount was only slightly different...but I saved 250 bucks. On top of that...I don't think there is another more expensive car out there as far as OEM parts. Get them from Mazda direct...and you'll be Bankrupt. A new engine wiring harness will cost you around 950-1100. And the Harnesses have been sitting since 93-95..so some of them are still crispy just from being 20 years old. Yea new parts..but plastic can only sit for so long without loosing tensil strength ya know? It's all stuff that needs to be taken into consideration. I wouldn't go back on the build and I absolutely Love this car beyond reason and don't think i'd ever sell it. But Fd's are expensive...hahaha..very expensive. On another note...I looked into some aftermarket adjustable rear end arms... for trailing arms and lower control arm using a clevis instead of bushings the guy wants 700+ without shipping. Pfft....thats just too much. I'm not even kidding you...I could realistically make the units..and make Quality units for around 300 in Materials. But thats just a rant... onot the build!! updates soon!

Anyways....

Status update: Nothing

So friday and saturday were very frustrating for me. So first I started on engaging the Throw out to the Pressure plate. Well...when I was having trouble pushing it far enough into the pressure plate for it to "snap" in. So I got top side of the motor and removed the drivers side view cover on the transmission and ......SOB. I dropped the bolt that holds the thin view plate into the transmission. And worse..it went on the motor side of the flywheel. I lost my Retracting magnet tool a loooong time ago so I'll have to find another one and bend it up to try and get it out. So thats a bummer... So I couldnt figure out why the t/o bearing wouldn't engage to the pressure plate. So I decided to take a break. Then i spent the next 4 hours bleeding the brakes...to no avail. After hours with a buddy of mine working the pedal I realized my little Vac hose on the bleeder side had a hole in it and I had been sucking in air the whole time. Stupid me...should've been using a clear hose the entire time instead of black vac hose wher eyou couldn't see anything but bubbles escape. So then I said eff it..i'll move onto something else and go back to bleeding the brakes another day. So I went to open my drivers side door and the worst crap ever happened... And everyone that it's happened to knows exactly why it sucks so bad. Damn Drivers side door handle gave and gave and let go... the Infamous door handle problem. I did my passenger side and drivers side sooo long ago..and I have both metal handles but the linkage is just crap. So after not getting the clutch engaged,...brakes bled, and the door handle breaking... I took my gloves off...didn't even clean up as I do every time i'm done working on the car, closed the garage door and turned the lights off in the garage and said I'm done for the weekend. Sometimes its just best to admit defeat and save it for another day...because it was one of those days.

I guess I forgot to post some of these pics though. I got my Side skirts in and was able to mock up the feed fenders and the burnout fenders with them. I'm glad I got the chance to try out both sets of fenders with the skirts because it would've made the difference in looks IMO.

So here is what it looked like with the feed fenders vs Burnout fenders:
Feed fenders

Burnout
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2070_zps1f854600.jpg
And THIS was the angle that did it for me and made me go with the Burnout Fenders. As you can see the feed fenders....despite the fact that they are +20 vs the feeds + 25.....stick out and match my rear over fenders much better. From the rear the car looks much more squared off front to rear...which In my opinion makes the car look more track oriented rather than Huge rear over fenders.....and smaller fronts with the feed fenders (more of a drag look IMO).
Feed..still look good....but I just like the burnout better =-)

Update:

So last night went a hell of a lot better than fri/sat.

Turns out the throw out bearing wouldn't click in because the slave cylinder end was limp and in the way of the range of "throw," which wouldn't let the pull type be pushed all the way back if that makes sense. I moved it out of the way and it snapped right in.

Did the bumper as well. Brought out all the cracks, dings, spider cracks etc too so i'll be able to see what needs to be repaired. The bumper also has a hard time mounting up on the drivers side . Not even sure how the previous owner mounted it up.. I'm sure John's frustrations go far past mine as I just got the bumper hahaha. but the white was killing me too hah

And FINALLY I got started on the Body Harness... My plan of attack is Mount it. Cut it and suite to my likeing. Then whatever is left over I'll literally just cut out all Ape-Crazy like...just without damaging anything in the process.
Got all the plugs on the inside connected, and ran it up and over the wheel arch so it doesn't get rubbed and chewed up.

Same goes for this side... moving the relays and fuse box under my headlight bucket. Sucks I baught a sleek light kit from someone a while back and just now got to opening it up..and the damn thing has NO light mounts. So now I have to source some or make them.. was really looking forward to just bolting them on. Oh well...another box on the "to do" list.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2085_zps9be30b21.jpg
And the drivers side. Same same same...Move out of harms way/eliminate everything I don't need, and re wrap. Got all the connectors through the fire-wall and I'll be connecting everything today after work.

Really sucks to put such a Hot Ugly Mess on the car...I'm really looking forward to having the car professionally wired up/tucked, i'm sure it'll be night and day, and much more simple.

Other news...got a telescoping magnet..and fished it allllll around under in/out of the trans bell housing and never found the bolt. I never actually saw the Bolt drop into it..so i'm not 100% positive it even fell in there..but I just assumed it did because I couldn't find it on the ground. Going to try again today just to make sure...but I just hope it fell somewhere else stupid..like in the engine subframe out of sight or something.

Bled the brakes some more and although they're better... and the pedal feels like it's 100% the front wheels still don't lock up. Which has me thinking.... where should I start with my Manual Brake Bias? dead center? The rears lock up no problem.. but the fronts take a pump before they work.

Also, any good tips on bleeding the Clutch? I spent an 2 hours yesterday doing it to no avail. Do I bleed it the same way as the brakes? any tips will help! thanks much!

More Updates soon! Stay Tuned!

Tiny Update:

I got fed up with my brake/clutch system and started over. This time I started with the clutch pedal side of the Master cylinder piston.

I watched a youtube video of a guy who was having similar problems in a jeep cherokee or something. His clutch pedal wasn't getting hard no matter how much bleeding he did. So he pulled off the C-Clip on Cabin side of the Clutch pedal/Piston. And there was an air pocket that had developed and was stuck between the piston and the Master cylinder. You pull the piston out just until you see fluid leak out and then push it back in. This can be a little tricky if you don't have C-clip pliers. SO I'd advise you not to do it unless you have some. Also DONT pull it out too much otherwise you may let more air into the system. But I did it..and It fixed my problem immediately. As soon as I pushed the piston back in the pedal was instantly firmer. Bled it a couple times and It was back to normal. It was really late and I was exhausted so I called it quits at around 12:15 since I had to be up at 5, but Now I can properly bleed the brakes. I also Bench Bled the master cylinder after that to ensure no bubbles were hindering the bleed. So Today I'll finish up Bleeding the Brakes and Clutch and Move onto something else!!

Update:

Lots of work done..but nothing off the list?!

I've been working at a min of 3-4 hours a night the past couple days and yesterday I realized I only got one thing done on my "to do" list haha. But a Ton of stuff that needed to be done is now complete.

anyways...back to updates!

Wanted to get the Origin rear fenders rivited on and didn't like the idea of having to drill out rivits if I needed to replace a damaged fender. So I looked around online and saw that people were using Nut-certs. You pretty much push the threaded rivit onto the body panel and it pressure sandwhiches the fastner in place which you can then bolt stuff to securely. You just have to be careful to make a good "cert." So I found a low cost alternative and this is why I love Harbor Freight.....and hate them haha.
I got the kit from Harbor frieght and after searching for 2 days all around locally and on the internet I ended up purchasing ANOTHER kit and tool just to be able to have enough Certs to finish the Over fender Install. I couldn't find the certs anywhere local and I searched thoroughly.. You can find them online but some places wanted some 37 cents per cert..and ebay didn't have any that had a big enough outer lip for me to feel comfortable using. Anyways I'll take pics of the tool later, but heres the install.

Side skirts.... So after admitting that i'm not so good at paint and body.. I decided not to cut my side skirts up. But instead.. I'm going to use more Nut-serts (cert/"sert"..sert is actually correct but who gives a shit...) to fasten the Side skirts. First I had the over fenders under the side skirts and although it could look cool. It would take a lot of work and customization. So I flipped it..and i'm going to lay the over fenders ON TOP of the side skirts. The skirts fit flush and the over fenders sit nice and flat against the body. So i'll have to figure out a couple cert locations and then make some alum brackets for the underside.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2122_zps45214958.jpg

So what did I accomplish last night?
- Went and purchased 25 10-24 sized allen head fastners for the over fenders
- Installed over-fenders (only thing that I had listed on my "to do" list
- Mocked up Side skirts to figure out mounting points
- Hit everything "Kit" oriented with black primer
- Connected all Body harness Connectors in-cabin on pass/Drvs side (so I know what I can delete)
- Ran my Coil harness (thanks C.Ludwig) from passenger side rear bin/battery..through firewall/found neat routing and around motor/vac block and around brake booster to coil location
- Connected grounds Engine/Chassis for that same harness
- Put dash in, ready for install
Also... wasn't paying attention and I cracked the windshield wiper lever when I was putting the dash in. Really sucks..as I'm keeping the wipers etc. I'll have to replace that and the Gauge hood I accidently sold thinking I had 2..<---Stooopes..
Well, ...more updates soon!! stay tuned!!

I think in total I used about 35/40 zip ties to clean things up.

Last night I got:

Both EGT's routed into cabin and wired up to digital gauges
Side skirts mounted both passenger & drivers side nice and clean without altering door open/close function
Re-routed vacuum lines through fire-wall nice and clean
Installed Starter
Installed Starter harness connectors to alternator and 2 Grounds (except I'm missing a couple, hope I don't need them)
zip tied main fuse box under drivers side headlight bucket ready to be hard mounted
routing the main harness sucks and I don't think there will be any way to get it routed without looking like butthole....without completely re-doing it in the cabin and runnning everything individually to the front. Does anyone know if I absolutely need the Ignition plug on the starter harness? or have I completely by-passed it with the direct fire? I guess I could message Chris..
Anyways..more nut-serts on their way from Mcmaster-carr, so i'll be able to finishe the skirt/overfender sections of the kit install. Then i'll only have to worry about the Front bumper which needs some work for sure..
I was going to order a nice Battery...any suggestions?

Fuel pump relay stuff should come in today. I'll get that all figured out too.

More updates soon!! getting close!!

^^Hey! thanks man! i'm trying to get this thing going!

Small Update:

Worked on bleeding the clutch some more... and I don't know how long it takes but it's taking forever. I found a leak a few nights ago in one of the braided lines that goes to the master cylinder, and after that I kinda took a break from it. Well I started again and there are no leaks..but the Clutch pedal isn't getting stiff. It seems as if there is endless amounts of bubbles. Is this the correct way to bleed? I don't know.. but this is what I've been doing:

Pump Clutch 5-8 times and hold to floor
Crack Bleed Screw open ( bubbles always flow out)
Tighten Bleed screw
Release Clutch pedal
AND repeat.

So is air getting into the system somewhere? But the pedal still won't get hard and it won't even get stiff enough to propel itself back off the floor after a bleed rotation. Any help would be appreciated.

So I made a nice new Bleed bottle out of an old hand soap bottle, it's a lot thicker than the plastic bottle and much more clear.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2151_zps04626eae.jpg

After spending about an hour working on the clutch bleed...
I gave up and started working on the Fuel Pump wiring:

Thanks for the info on the clutch...but after really just stopping and thinking about it. I'mgoing to pull the slave cylinder off and inspect it. I think it's bad.... because after bleeding it for this long it should at least re-coil on it's own. I have a spare I'm going to open up and inspect as well... and see if theres a difference in o-rings then if need be just order a rebuild kit.

Other updates..Not a ton of stuff but wiring the fuel pumps up was definitely a huge move and a time consuming one as well

Got the grounds all figured out, power to pumps, Relay/rocker switch and Battery terminals as well. Just need to run 12V to the rocker switches now.
But here is an incomplete Pic of the relay harness's incomplete

Big Update:

Yesterday was awesome because I spent about 8 hours straight working on the car.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2174_zps570edf4c.jpg
I noticed that using zip ties really really helps with orgnizing and making things look better
...I also needed somewhere to mount my rocker switches. The previous owner used this horrible piece of wannabe carbon fiber scrap metal with a sticker overlay for the din pocket. he cut a hole and put the boost guage in there.. it not only looked horrible but it also wouldn't stay in place. I don't kjnow why i've kept it around because I always thought to myself "...man that thing is useless ..why don't I just trash it." Well I finally found a use for it haha. I drilled 2 holes in it and figured it'll work for now to mount my rocker switches.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2176_zpsd4553d46.jpg
So here it is in all it's glory... This took me a total of about 6 hours all together. Not proud of that..but at least I know that if I need to do it again I could do it in 2 haha.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2179_zps32fc3907.jpg

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2181_zps4fe24482.jpg

Finally I was time to work on the coil mounting bracket I had started. Bj made me a quick little bracket out of some scrap alum.
I simply drilled 2 holes.. found 2 bolts... used 2 Fuel Rail risers I had laying around as spacers.. tightened them up..and mounted them on the drivers side frame.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2181_zps4fe24482.jpg
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2188_zps115a9ea8.jpg
The plugs are all plugged in here and nothing has pressure on it. It really came together nicely because I thought the plugs weren't going to fit. Also I was worried about the hood not closing all the way or the plugs hitting the hood. But I measured and the hood will lay an inch and a quarter higher than the frame rail. The coils lay almost exactly an inch and an 8th. So i'm pretty sure they won't hit. But i'll have to make sure when i get the hood back on. Also used some scotch brite to give the aluminum a brushed look, and used a couple washers in between the frame and bracket on the closest mounting point to the strut because there is a slight indent on the frame which would make the bracket sit uneven or funny looking without. Still need to figure out neat wire routing but you get the idea and I'm happy with it.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2189_zps64b044d3.jpg
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2190_zpsbe5f4153.jpg
So after that I pulled out a spare Slave cylinder I had laying around, opened it up and cleaned it out really well because I thought my slave might be the reason my clutch wouldn't hold pressure. When I opened it up...it had a little bit of flaking on the inside closest to the bleed valve. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm not sure if it is ok to use with that flaking..but then again I don't think the piston even gets to that point. I was going to replace mine with this one but when I pulled the line off with the slave attatched....I pushed on the piston and a bunch of bubbles shot out the master cylinder..maybe it needed to be sort of bench bled? it recoiled from the little pressure that is in there so I figured i'd bleed it today and if it didn't hold then move to the master cylinder as that may just be my luck. Good thing I have a nice low mileage spare laying around. More updates Soon!!! stay tuned!!

Small update:

Well I totally forgot to fully tighten the clutch pedal assembly so now it recoils..but it still doesn't feel as good as it should. I want the throw to be mid push ya know? Not all the way to the floor. Also, forgot to have a Coolant overflow bung welded to my filler. So I used a brass fitting instead. Drilled and tapped it, sealed it with High temp honda-bond just in case..and whaalahh

also I put the tape there so metal shavings wouldn't get into the motors cooling system
And finished......anyone have a oem over flow cap resevoir cap and dip stick for sale? I accidently sold mine thinking I had 2 or 3!!!
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2195_zpsf8ec45f6.jpg

Also, here is a good Guide if anyone wants to copy the fuel pump re-wire. I used Tom's page as a guide...and specifically this picture. I took the time to make a little visual guide using his pic for anyone who is directions illiterate and more of a visual person (like me).
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/Theoriesfuelrelayset-up_zps6421f2a7.jpg

And I realized that there was no reason Why I shouldn't put my bumper, hood and drivers side fender on since all that is left to re-wire the front body harness is just routing and secureing. So I wanted to just go to sleep because I was tired last night..but I always seem to say..just one more thing haha.

Update:

Will update with pics later....but Figured out the problem with the main fuse box.
Spent last night doing the following:

- Re-routing the power cable from the Battery to the Main fuse box
- Trimming the box inself to accept my GIANT power cable wire
- Had to source another 12V because I had the fuel pumps wired to a constant 12V so the fuel pump switches would turn on whether or not the key was turned. This took a while to locate under the EGI fuse box but I took a picture and i'll add it here for future reference. Only thing is I had to cut my wires and extend them another 4 feet...which I'm hoping won't lower my aperage to each pump. I'll have to check soon. But now the fuel pumps are able to be switched on ONLY when the key is turned.
- Routed the wiring nice and safe next to the frame rail..and no way close to any moving parts etc.. But I still need to go get some nice wire shield just for a extra piece of mind. The 12V switched source I used is right under the Green Relay in the EGI fuse box I'll post a picture later on today.
- Fuel system had 1 small leak due to me not tightening down my fuel rail bolts all the way. Cleaned up the leaked fuel, tightened down the bolt....turned the fuel pumps on again and whaalah....No leaks!! Set the Fuel Pressure to 60 and let it run for abou 4 min straight. Not sure if that is ok..but Just wanted to make sure there wasn't any little drips or slight leaks anywhere in the system. Luckily there were none =-)

My sweet ass Aeromotive fuel filter with shut off valve came in pretty handy. Glad I have it but i'd never spend what I spent on it again hah!

Then I went to prime the motor to get oil pressure up and got nothing. Called it a night as it was 2:30 AM and I had to get up at 5:45 for work but I did do some searching on here and found out the most likely culprit. Which as some of you guys know is the Starter Cut relay. Located on the drivers side kick panel closest to the fuse box. Blue connector...and I think the only one over there on that side. I'm going to make a jumper wire for it so it bypasses it. That way I won't even need to push the clutch in to start the car. <<<and no that doesn't bother me, and no I'm not worried about accidently starting the car with the car in gear. So Thats where i'm going to start today...sadly my "today" will start at around 9pm tonight as I have to head to work after work haha. Don't think i'll be able to actually start the car at that time even if I'm ready to because my neighborhood is OOOOBER quiet... really don't want to upset my neighbors since i've been lucky enough to have really nice ones both sides and front/back.

Lastly, anyone who is hesitant to go with the ADAPTRONIC ECU shouldn't be...this thing is super simple and easy to use. So glad I deleted my external Boost controller, external Map Sensor, datalogit etc. Don't need any of it!!

_ After that turned on my Fuel pumps to prime the system..which is actually the wrong stp because I should've cranked the motor before for about 2-4 min just to get it all lubed up with oil before first start. But I wanted to make sure there were no leaks in my fuel system.

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2229_zpsb78efc07.jpg

http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2229_zpsb78efc07.jpg
And Lastly......grounded the motor to frame. Used the threaded hole on the rear IRON that I was used for the OEM coil Mount bracket. Correct me if i'm wrong.

And a parting shot for the day.
http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy325/mannykiller/FD%20Build/IMAG2232_zpsbbf6b2fc.jpg

WHile I was double checking things I figured i'd check my starter. And sure enough...it wasn't getting power... I'm pretty sure it is the Starter cut relay.. but I wasted 3 hours looking for it. Turns out There is a white plug that actually has the same pin out...fits in the same place..and is long enough to not look out of place while in stalled. I accidently hooked this up to the relay, and had the relay plug plugged into the drivers side footwell fuse box. I finally realized this and thats where I left off for the night. Today i'll use some wire to make a little Jumper to bypass the relay so the car can be turned over. Hopefully I can make some more progress towards that today.

More updates soon!

Update:

Well fixed all my starter BS wiring. Seems like the Previous owner did some weird ass shit with it. I seriously have no idea how the car was set up the way he had it. But it explains why the car wouldn't turn off half the time.

Anyways.. i'm going to wire up a nice push start button because i'm not getting any trigger signal to the starter. But i'll have to do that when I have some time.....which I don't have much of as of late. My next day off is thursday and it'll be packed with a bunch of "1st of the month" errands. Good news is I have all next week off starting monday from my second job. So i'll take advantage of that.

I jumped the starter though just to see if the car would fire up. So I cranked it over for a min here and there to build oil pressure without the EGI relay or fuel fuse in and then installed them. Turned the key.....fuel pumps on and the jumped the starter. I heard the loudest Metal on metal noise ever and i'm positive the motor is toast. It came to a crunching siezed stop and I don't even know how it's possible..but there was a metal shard sticking out of the actual rotor housing... Safe to say I'll be taking a break from the build and really re-thinking finishing the car. bs man.....spent so much money on the engine internals and build to do it all the right way and the metal shard stiicking out is a bolt. I must've dropped one in there somehow when I had the UIM off. I just don't know where it came from.

SIKE!!!!!!

April FOOLS!!! haha

THe motor is fine....cranks and has great compression for not running =-)

Only problem is it's not getting fuel. I need to ground out my plugs to see if they're even firing. Pulled them and cranked it to make sure it wasn't flooded...which is fairly easy to do with a rotary. Cranked it over and there was no fuel at all....nothing on the plugs either. Not even a hint of fuel smell in the air. So trouble shooting starts next week when I have time. I work two jobs all day everyday till monday starting today. Sucks...but I'll have some cash for my PBM angle kit and cage soon!

We actually thought that. But you're a day late fool. Don't do that on April 2nd.

Glad to hear though LOL.

haha... I know!!! I havn't driven in 2 YEARS! I feel like it'll be the best running motor.. and I'll have like 15 degrees of posi camber on my right front... 10 neg on my passenger side, and my suspension/alignment/Brake bias will be absolutely JACKED out there. They're going to have to clear the coarse everytime I start the car....and the only chase car i'll have will be a pickup truck picking up parts I forgot to secure hahaha

Alrighty! so I spent the last few days trouble shooting electrical gremlins.. Damn starter wasn't getting a signal..but had power. Previously the car had to have been wire hacked or something because it was a bloody mess. After I had all but given up.....put in a 4 hour session I took a razor to the wiring loom. Found 2 wires that weren't connected to anything.. Looked through the FSM and Bingo. crimped them to connectors and whaalahhh I was now able to start the car by turning the key. THen I had to find out why I had nopower to my injectors. Turns out that one of the ecu connectors was stuck up by the hole in the firewall/dash area and the male end was behind the ecu. Effing idiot man...I swear. I connected them and hit the injecter test button on my ECU... all 4 I.D. injectors clicked and I got a nice 12V waveform across the board. Buttoned up some loose wires and here it is. First Start Video =-)

Forgot to back the fuel pressure back down to 43.5 PSI from 60. So i'm going to do that when I get home from work today. Also...the turbo was spitting oil EVERYWHERE... I can't remember if I had installed a restricter or not though..I wanna say the turbo feed -6an fitting had a built in one...but I can't rememer. Either way I ordered an extra one from ATP this morning. .035 for the GTX3582R. Hopefully there isn't one installed and I can simply twist a new one in..if not... I'll have to figure what is going on.

^ well I think I have to replace my clutch master...it's just not bleeding and i've already replaced the slave. After that... need to adjust my coilover ride height...because it's a little too low in the front for comfort with the giant side walls i have on there. I love low cars..but the lowest part of my car is the coolant fitting...so until I can have it relocated higher...i'm going to run it a bit higher. And my alignment is totally JACKED haha. I'm going to take it to get done. But I really want to try and pull off 0 camber in the rear... front will be a different story but I really dont like the feel of mega -.

Going to try and fix my oem oil pressure gauge as it's not getting a signal, and wire up my dual EGT displays. The sensors are already installed etc..just need power for the digi displays. I think my brakes may need to be bled a bitmore as well. Other than that.. She's ready to drive =-) Once I get 500 miles on the motor i'll be able to get a professional tune. LSD needs to be broken in correctly as well. Maybe I did too much at once..hah. My motor builder says the motor is ready to race the next day and I dont really need to break it in..and it's race clearanced, but i'd just feel better knowing it ran nicely for 500 miles before I rape it. After 500 miles.. Diff fluid change and second oil change and were ready to go. Today I'm going to let it idle for as long as possible to make sure my fans are working and to put some heat into things.

Update:

Been busy working out little bugs.
Had a little leak and wasn't happy with my drain install...so I pulled the drain flange off and modified it so the nut would fully tighten on the stud...and it would also give me room to get a socket on there.
