So I've got a 92 LE coupe with ABS and an sr20 swap so it should just have the stock vlsd. Have no problem getting the tires to spin however if I'm trying to do donuts around a cone or light in first gear it seems like it's an open diff and once in a while (not very often) it will finally kick out but I can't maintain it for more then 2 or 3 seconds before it seems like it's an open diff again. Then as well if I'm trying to get it to kick out and I rip it into second quick it kicks out no problem it just seems to be first gear. Anyone know what's causing this?

if its a VLSD it just means its tired and worn out.
Shimming can help to lock it up again but there is no permanent fix other than replacing.
