What's going on here.. gas door flew open one day and I have no idea what I'm missing as far as parts. It there some sort of clip that I dont have? I don't understand why the cable isn't holding in place. I can push it through the hole but it slips back out.. Any help is appreciated.

The little ring on this picture

screws onto some threads. Those threads need to be attached to the parts in picture

It all needs to look like this picture. Little cap goes over the threads you see.

Sorry to tell you but you need a new release cable unless all the parts are there and not broken in the third picture but its hard to tell at that angle. Junkyard time. S13 and S14 cables will both work, the S14 is just longer. The bracket that bolts to the chassis for the trunk may also need to be changed as the hatch and coupe are different.
(BTW that picture is for the Z32 but it looks the same, sadly it won't work.)

Fudge. Thanks for the help.. maybe someone has one spare. There are no 240s in the junkyards near me

I went to Home Depot and bought a plastic washer just slightly undersized and drilled it out some to thread it on as I also lost the nut. Haven't had an issue since.
