Greetings to yet another one of my Build Threads lol
As some as ya'll know I have moved back to Japan and had to Put my Other 3 Builds on hold and in storage.
I've always loved the R32 since I first saw one in Okinawa in 04 but just hated that it only came with a RB20 and getting a GTR was too expensive for a E3,
Due to my Many other pojects I had Originally planned on just getting a GTS-t but after seeing how much it snows up here and finding an awesome Deal on a 1990 GTR (Which I can bring back to the states if and when I leave here) So I bit the bullet and bought it Thanks to my Wife since the dealer never deals with Americans.
Found it In Akita to the west but was unable to go and check it out physically so running a big risk on being a turd. But the pics the dealer gave me looked too good to be true for the price....

Said fuck it and bought it.
Finally got it over to Misawa and had to get it JCI'd so here was when I first saw it.
Came with Apexi N1 Coilovers and Pananasport G7 rims 17x8.5-9.0J with Advan Rubber, RSR Down pipe, Greddy Trust Cat back, GReddy Boost Gauge, Ultra Turbo Timer
Other than that shes bone stock, even has the stock Boost restictor installed

Finally got it back from being JCI'd and Gave it a look over unfortunately i dont have any of my tools so I cant go too deep.
Kinda Old School TT, Couldnt find anything on it on the web.
Plus this bad boy plays 8 bit music when the timer counts down lol

Lol. You from Texas!?!?
uhhhh Nope
Ordered a test pipe
Ordered a M's Intake System
I had a Trust cat back on it but its way too quiet for my liking especially for being a GTR so I ordered a HKS Hi Power and just picked it up from Upgarage ^_^
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/IMG_0292.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/HKSSilentHiPower.jpg
Sounds and looks alot better but still to quiet for me so when my welder gets here Ill probably cut out the resonator box and weld in a straight pipe.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/GTRexhaust2.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/IMG_0310.jpg
Installed my M's Intake System.
Really need to strip the engine bay and clean it,
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/IMG_0305.jpg
Free HP.
Removed the Stock Boost restrictor
The restrictor is found in the W/G solenoid line Located by the Yellow band
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/IMG_0281.jpg
Pop out this little guy and say hello to .09-ish bar boost
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/IMG_0282.jpg
Done
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i235/Neil_85/GTR/IMG_0283.jpg
Still was boosting only .6 bar.....
Finally Figured out why the GTR had no low end and only boosting .6 bar after the restrictor was removed.
Come to find out the AAC,Knock and IACV plug was disconnected. Never would have noticed unless I didn't redo some Vac lines last night.
Its the back plug, It was just barely undone to where the pins wouldn't connect.
Now she's boosting .9 bar and pulls like it should!

Thanks Guys, I just wish the under chassis was as nice as the body. 20 years of snow has done a job on the upper floor pans and pinch weld areas
I plan on cutting out the the rust and welding in new pieces but unfortunately the Auto Hobby shop will not allow me to weld cuz the owner is lazy and doesn't wanna get it re-certified for welding. So looks like I gotta go back to my old ways of Parking lot repairs haha
Gonna try to work my way from front to back right now doing Corrosion Control then find a way to weld in new plates

There is, I love this car so much. It handles like nothing I've ever driven before.
Stopped by the Nissan dealership for a price quote on new inner and outer rocker panels, I can get all of them for 65,000¥ which is a decent price so I'll probably order them.

Thanks, Hopefully It will Stay this way.
Well the project has really slowed down since the Auto Hobby will not allow me to weld in the shop so im kinda stuck at the moment till i can find a place to weld and Paint.
plus waiting on a donor R32 to cut out the floor pans and weld in new ones.
I will be ordering New Rockers from Nissan but holding on to them till i get back tot he states to put them in. In the Mean time i will repair the pinch welds til it gets to the states.
Really upset cuz im still waiting on a HICAS line for the rear that i Order from Canada 2 weeks ago.....

Its actually pretty hard to find parts up here, unless you have a Skyline or Subaru. Its pretty country up here, Ive only seen 4 S-Chassis.
Upgarage's selection sucks up here as well, but at least they can order me stuff though.

take your time in the snow, and it isnt a problem. Keep your eyes out for flat pure white spots on roads. and drops in the snow, if you see these they could be potholes. Drove in the UP of Michigan for a snowmobile trip and we took our s13's up for fun since roads were clear, and it wasn't terrible

I finally got my Insurance money from when a LN hit my Subaru B4 so I can now order my Outer rocker panels.
Waiting on one of my buddies to get his hands on a R32 chassis I can rips the floor pans out of as well.
Looking at upgrading the brakes (new rotors and pads) but waiting on paying off the B4 as well, Last payment due this month.
Wasnt expecting to be so slow but the Auto Hobby shop here sucks and wont let me do anything....

Did you? I didnt notice, my bad.
Buy parts at Nissan is really easy if you can speak Japanese and I bring a FAST print out with me to make sure we order the correct parts. Plus help having a Japanese Wife as Back up lol.
They dont seem to rape ppl over here. The Blower recirc door i expected around 10,000Yen and was suprised when they said 4,000 Yen.
The screws and retainers were like 100 yen each not too bad, normally i would jack them from a junk yard but pretty sure any i would find would be rusted out
Also back in 05 i ordered a bunch of transmission and Misc gaskets for an SR and only paid like 5,000yen.
So def seems cheaper
I can also buy the whole R32 Front floor Pan for about 111,400 Yen
It really amazes me they still have these parts in wherehouses
Nice R32! I wish I was still in Misawa.
Thanks, yeah its alright. A little too country for me, Okinawa Spoiled me.

I should be here until 2016.
Didnt look like it, but i should be picking up an R33 RB26 this weekend as an engine to build on the side.
The oiling issues are really only a concern if your in the high RPM's and hitting the Rev limiter continueously
But i plan on fixing these issues with the R33 engine. Ill probably have to wait to slap the R33 engine in when i get the car back to the states cuz for importation It changes things if its not the original engine.

First time driving in snow this deep with black ice everywhere. Def a new experience.
Wanna look into a Front diff upgrade since the GTR's only come with Opens up front :/
According to FAST there are other chassis that share the front diff so maybe if im lucky one of these chassis came with a VLSD.
went Junk yard hoping as well, nothing really worth while up here. but did stumble across this

a Neo RB20 with VVL... would be interesting for a turbo project, but not interesting enough
Also picked up a new GTR Key for a Spare ^_^

So Engine came into day, seems like I struck the Jack Pot on this engine.
Just from the brief look over it has, Metal Head Gasket, HKS cam gears, HKS elbows, from what looks to be Tomei Manifolds, POSSIBLY some HKS GT-SS Turbos, and Possibly some Cams.
Cant wait to get this up on the stand and tear it down.
Thanks to my buddy Matt for helping me get this.

Not really sure, i just bought it off the auctions and the seller didnt say anything about the setup.
I would like to know as well, its the first ive seen someone try to run a sequential on an 26. But im just gonna try to source a single GT-SS so i can have a maching TT setup.
No updates yet, work has been wearing me out lately. I left off at removing the cams to pull the head.
Also need an impact gun to remove the crank pully. 300+ ftlbs is too much for my long ass breaker bar, i ended up bending the shit out of one of my pry bars using it as a brace on the crank

Wouldnt really say damage, but there is wear on the collar.
im gonna stick with it, no real diff in the 26 blocks other than the crank or if its an N1.
If the Main journals are fine then ill probably just do the JUN crank Collar mod.
If its damaged i'll order an N1 crank

Indeed, I love driving this thing.
It handles really well I think, Probably would alot better if it had at least a VLSD up fron instead of an Open Diff.
And where do those fogs mount? I've never seen them before, even though we all have the Fog light button on the dash
It bolts to the underside of the bumper support infront of the intercooler, there should be a 10mm bolt on each side.
They will look like this

The Issue with the R32 clocks are resistors behind the the glass over time from heat the Solder will break on the resistors and they just need to be re-flowed.

Kinda, The section where the Firewall meets the floor pan has taken a beating after 20 years of snow and salt as well a spot or two. Much rather replace it than repair although in the mean time I will repair it until I get it back to the states.

Love your build thread man, also the rust doesn't look that bad on the frame rails, did you box over or cut and reweled the frame?
That skyline truck is pretty cool too never seen that before!!

Well guys I got some bad news......Im gonna be selling this GTR :(
BUT! I will get another!
I just dont have the resources or a place to do the body repairs. Its not that bad but I'm just really picky.
If i had a garage I would strip the chassis down and repair it. but I dont, and refuse to do it at someone else house
Plus now my little girl is in the picture It would save me alot more time and money then repairing the chassis.
So in a month or so im gonna try to sell this one and pick up another Chassis so i can just concentrate on engine and suspension work.
But in the mean time I will enjoy it.
Took a cruise today with some friends today

I just did the same thing myself! Finding a clean chassis to start with is key, its rarely worth the money to do huge repairs just to bring it back to normal...when a 'normal' chassis can be had for much less than the repairs.

Thanks Guys, I really hate to sell this once cuz its mechanically sound and runs great.
At one point on YAJ someone was selling a Shell with practically Zero Rust. for $600 unfortunately it was a late 91 so I couldn't bring it back :( otherwise it would have been a perfect shell to swap everything too, Sucks it has to be a certain year :/

Also isnt too cool that you have an entire nation fighting for these early chassis. good luck dude! At least you're there and are able to take advantage of the multiple ways of buying cars, rather than strictly auctions.

Went and called the shop to ask about the GTR I was eyeing to find out it was sold last week.... FML
I found a few 1991s but not sure of the production month since I'm limited to July 1991.
Really sucks trying to get details and pics from dealers that have no clues about cars.
