Need help with project s13

Hey soooo, I bought a 92 s13 hatch from a guy in Toronto and it's a little rough. Me and my mechanic checked it out and as it turns out the passenger side floor is rotting out decently. I'm gutting it in a week or two to see really how bad it is and will post pictures but I would like to know if it is worth to just replace the whole floor or just weld plates in as a patch and spray the crap out of it with rust proof paint. I'll have to do the same on the drivers side but not as much.
