How much for a billet GT35R compressor wheel?

Billet "drop-in" GT35R Wheel (no machining required):

11-Blade with 18 degree extended tip - $295

If you have a good working GT35R, we can install the wheel and cartridge balance the turbo for an extra $100.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks

Hi Jesse,

I have a ball bearing Garrett S14 T28 (GT2560R I believe).

What kind of upgrade could you do it and for what price? Converted to the GTX series?

Hi Jesse,

I have a ball bearing Garrett S14 T28 (GT2560R I believe).

What kind of upgrade could you do it and for what price? Converted to the GTX series?

You have many different options:

Upgrade to standard (non-billet) 62 trim CW:
$75 wheel + $100 machining + $100 install and balance = $275

Upgrade to Billet 60 trim drop-in CW (as shown in pic above):
(highly recommended, spools faster and makes more power)
$250 wheel + $100 install and balance = $350

Upgrade to Billet GTX71 CW:
You would need to upgrade the turbine wheel too because the GT2560R turbine is too small to support the Billet 71. We call this a conversion. Prices start at $650 to upgrade both wheels. Depending on which wheels. Call or e-mail to discuss.

What is your WHP goal?

Thanks

do you have any comparison test against your billet wheel vs the gtx35r wheel?

No, not yet. We have sold plenty of the 35R Billets. We have not done a side-by-side comparison yet. We will be releasing compressor maps in the future. Customers who are running the 35R billet wheels have given us only positive feedback. We will be sure to post results once a comparison has been done. Thanks

Wow I like this idea if its possible. I have a new gt2560r that I've been maxing out (did more suporting mods than I thought I would do) and want to step up to 2871. I'm interested in any type of comparison although I'm more worried about durability/quality. I don't want to screw up a perfectly good turbo. I guess ill be in contact with you to talk about it.

OK, we can upgrade your turbo but your GT2560R turbine wheel is too small to handle a 71 compressor wheel. You would need a turbine wheel upgrade too. The GT2860R and GT2860RS have the bigger turbine wheel which is perfect with the 71 compressor wheels. Call or email for details.

As far as durability, we cartridge balance all our performance turbos and rebuilds. The balance is very critical with these turbos! Not even precision turbo has a cartridge balancing machine (notice their shaft nuts don't have any balance adjustments on them).

All our BB rebuilds receive our upgraded ceramic ball bearing unit which replaces the Garrett steel ball bearing unit.

We have not had 1 warranty or return yet on any ball bearing rebuild, upgrade, or new turbo that we have built. I know that sounds hard to believe but it's true. Lots of happy customers...

Do you have any dyno comparisons? Im the skeptical type and want to see real results. Don't know how much cost effective this replacement wheel would be when I could sell my turbo and buy a new Precision 6265 and make as much if not more power.

No sorry, not yet. I understand your skepticism. We have been hassling our past customers to send dyno sheets for the same reason. We know some people just don't believe in a turbo until they see dyno sheets, which is fine. Compressor maps and dyno sheets are in the works...

Now a PT6265, that's a MUCH bigger turbine wheel, and a little bit bigger (1mm on the inducer) compressor wheel. Not really an apples to apples comparison. Your 35R with a billet upgrade will spool up MUCH faster than a 6265. You have a lot of different options to choose from depending on what is more important to you: peak HP vs. spool time.

funktown240
10-11-2012, 08:19 PM
Not worried to much about spool, since I have an RB25. A 6262 would be closer comparison but if I change turbos I'm going with a 6265. Looking forward to dyno sheets and compressor maps, you might change my mind. Good luck!

The RB25 does a decent job at spooling these bigger turbos. Nice motor. For your next turbo, at least go with a company that performs a cartridge balance on their turbos like Garrett, Turbonetics, Borg Warner, or PureTurbos. We find that the precision turbos are out of balance anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 gr/in on the compressor side plane when we put them on the cartridge balancing machine. This is majorly sub-par for the turbocharger industry. Turbos can spin up to 250,000 RPM!!!

The idea of the Billet 60trim sounds really good, so does the GTX71. I have a S14 SR20 and bolt ons, looking to make 320whp fairly soon and support near 400whp. What is the HP range I'd be in for either setups?

Is 650 the total cost to upgrade to a GTX style setup? Thanks for the quick response. I look forward to doing business with you guys..

PS. What kind of turn around time do you guys usually have? Think this is a question I'm sure a lot of people have! Do I ship the turbo out and you guys pay return shipping?

10-11-2012, 08:37 PM

Sure can. That would be a compressor wheel and turbine wheel upgrade. Pricing depends on the current condition of your turbo. We have 52 and 56 trim billet GTX wheels available.

No, to support 400whp you would have to upgrade your compressor wheel and turbine wheel (if you have a GT2560r). Your GT2560r turbine wheel is simply too small for 400whp. Now if you have a GT2860r, different turbine wheel, different story.

Turn around time depends on what we are doing for you. Rebuilds can be 1-4 days. Complete upgrades requiring machining can take up to 1-2 weeks. Depends on our work load too. We have 4 techs building turbos 40 hrs a week. So we are busy. Customer pays for shipping. Return shipping is a fixed $25 in the continental states.
Thanks

I have a couple GTi-R T28's, I'm pretty sure they are of similar size to the S14 T28 except that they're journal bearing. One of them was supposedly brand new and only had 1000ish miles on it. When I got it from a guy on here the shaft had tons of play and both the compressor wheel and turbine wheel were a little chewed up. Are you guys able to upgrade that to a journal bearing 2871 by replacing the wheels/machining? If so cost?

I wouldn't mind doing that and then selling my current good GTi-R T28.

So what kind of power and spoolup gains would I notice from just upgrading my wheel to the billet wheel? And with the $650.00 GTX upgrade? I think the wheel upgrade might be more in my budget now, just curious on gains of this, versus yalls 490 hp turbo if I should just snag it. Feel free to PM me if needed. My goals are mid 300s right now. Thanks!

The drop-in billet wheel upgrade is not a substantial upgrade. The gt2560r is always limited by the turbine wheel size. However, for $350 installed, the upgrade is well worth it. The gt2560r has been known as one of the best fast spool options for these motors, and to get it to spool even faster is sweet!!!

For reference:

Stock GT2560R Cast Compressor Wheel Weighs: 53 grams

PureTurbos Billet GT2560R Drop-In Compressor Wheel Weighs: 41 grams

That's 22.6% LIGHTER!!!

Didn't mention previously: These have a minor 7 degree extended tip too!

AH! We love 2JZ's !

I recommend one of two turbos:

6265PTX (supports up to 770 crank hp)

6765PTX (supports up to 850 crank hp)

Both of these are very fast spooling on a 2JZ.

Retail: $895, PM me for your "special" price :)

I have a s14 T28 and will probably go with your $350 special for it.

10-14-2012, 05:48 PM
What upgrade can be done to a stock s13 t25?

Stock JB S13 T25 options:
Cast CW 60 Trim upgrade, supports 310 crank hp - $250
Billet 60trim CW upgrade, supports 325 hp (not recommended, limited by turbine wheel size) - $450
Cast CW and Turbine upgrade, GT2860 JB specs, supports 360+ hp - $650
Billet 60trim CW and Turbine upgrade, JB, supports 375+ hp - $900

Prices can vary depending on the condition of the turbo sent to us for CW only upgrades. The $650 and $900 options include a new CHRA so condition doesn't matter.

what can you do with this?

IHI RHF5:
Comp. Wheel – 38.5 / 52.15mm
Turbine Wheel – 46.35 / 52.7 mm
Bearing system – Journal Bearing
Cooling System – Water & Oil

We have 6 different RHF5 Billet Compressor Wheels available.

Inducers ranging from 43mm to 49mm
Exducers ranging from 60mm to 65mm

I recommend the 6 blade 46.5mm inducer, 60mm exducer.
Very light weight for fast spool and supports over 350 crank hp. Your turbine wheel would be the limiting factor.

Billet CW Price - $250
Machine Comp Housing - $100
Install and balance - $100
Total - $450 (assuming your turbo doesn't need a rebuild)

We also have these wheels in standard cast non-billet. Total price installed - $300

on a serious note. How much would shipping to Hawaii cost me!?

I have a s14 T28 and will probably go with your $350 special for it.

Shipping should be about $35.

Sorry, the last response was assuming you meant a RHF55 or RHF5H which has a 6.1mm shaft for the compressor wheel. We also have 24 different Billet wheels which fit RHF5 with the 5.1mm shaft. Please measure the shaft or give me the part number of the turbo or vehicle application so we can identify which wheels are proper for your turbo.

OK, so you have the 5.1mm shaft size.

We have the drop-in billet wheel for $250. $100 install and balance on a good working turbo (no rebuild included). $350 total.

Or you can go to a bigger upgrade wheel, just add $100 for machining compressor housing.

upgraded billet wheel on Garrett GT3076R .82

do you have ability to polish intake housing ?

thank you in advance

We have 5 different 3076R Billet wheels available. Yes we offer polishing. See pricing below:

Billet PTX3076R wheel: $275
Machining: $100
Install and balance: $50
Total: $425

(this is the 11-blade wheel with same dimensions and flow as GTX3076R)

Drop-in (no machining required) Billet GT3076R: $275
Install and balance: $50
Total: $350

We need the part number from your turbo to determine which compressor wheel you have.

Compressor Housing Polishing - $100

We can recommend a Billet wheel for you. We need to know your WHP goal, which engine you're running, and what is more important to you: spool time or peak power.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

What upgrades do you have for an s15 t28? I'm debating whether I should buy a gtx series turbo, or do one of your upgrades, or just go top mount (which is least preferred). Whp goal would be 375-400 with minimal lag time on an sr with supporting mods and jwt s3 cams. Thanks!

I was also wondering about the Dual ball bearing S15 T28. What if I send it to you and say go full blast haha.

We can take the S15 T28 Ball Bearing all the way to a GTX3071R with many options in between. E-mail [email protected] or PM me for your options. Thanks

Yeah, what upgrades are you able to do? Do you have any more info on what I have? Icant really find much about it...specs, dyno charts, stuff like that

Your IHI turbo has very similar specs to a GT2560R. I recommend it is not used for anything over 325 crank HP. We have billet upgrade compressor wheels for this turbo but the turbine wheel is too small for a compressor wheel upgrade. We can't upgrade the turbine to match because IHI ball bearing turbines are not available. I recommend you either sell this turbo or use it for up to 325 crank HP. If you are looking for more power than 325, this is not the turbo for you. Does that answer your questions? Let me know if you have other questions.
Thanks

The best bang for the buck on the SR20 is our BILLET BOLT ON T28. It utilizes our BILLET GTX2863R Compressor Wheel. It uses a larger T28 Turbine Shaft. It is journal bearing and supports 400 crank HP. - $695 + $100 core deposit

How much would that be if it is a ball bearing one? I will be in the market for a turbo upgrade in the near future.

Jesse, i have Garrett 3076r .82 that may have seal that is going out. will know today after i check the oil return and the oil feed ATP restrictor.

I saw some oil seeping out of oil feed fitting last night when i started then a little smoke. no oil in intercooler elbow or intake piping from turbo to intercooler to tb etc.

can you help me with some of the tell tale signs of a turbo that needs rebuild. I did a boost leakdown test last night and didn't get anything from the turbo.

If it is bad i will be sending to your company next week.

Can you also tell me how long turn around time is for rebuild seals etc

thank you

just wanted to post Charles helped me out earlier this year when I sent in my bb 57 trim and went with a billet bb 50 trim, I just got it installed and the engine running, looks good, no smoking, sounds smooth, these guys really seem to know turbos, much easier working with them then the other places I called, and he informed me of the proper way to mount a water cooled turbo, previous owner had no pitch!

I sent my gt2560r to Pure Turbo, it should be back here in FL next Monday, oem rebuild. Hopefully I'll have time to put everything back together some time next weekend and test run to hell out of it =) oh I forgot I need to transfer tag and insure it before I can really drive it, but I will get back with you guys. Thank you Pure Turbo.

Sorry, my bad. I meant to say upgrade to GTX3071R for $900
(because you're already starting with a GT2871R)
I edited last post for correction

For CW only billet 71r upgrade, supports over 475 crank hp and spools faster than normal 56 trim GT2871R

Thanks

So what is the difference between the gtx2871 upgrade and the gtx2867 upgrade, aren't they both rated at 475 at the crank?

Difference would be Response. Id say within 200-300RPM

I bought one of their upgraded turbos, I will do a write up soon, I am just waiting for my harness from wring specialties. I bought their gtx2867, which is a disco potato that was rebuilt with ceramic ball bearings and machined to 67mm and has their 67mm billet wheel in it, it looks sexy I can say that at least lol

First problem I had with the turbo: too much power lol. My exedy stage 2 couldn't hold it worth a damn, I am putting in a spec stage 3 this weekend... This turbo is WAYYYY more responsive than the tomei m7960 I had. I love it so far, after the clutch is in and broke in for 1,000 miles I will be hitting the dyno and will post the results

Just wanted to get on here and note that I'm LOVING MY PURE TURBO BILLET!!! I finally got my coupe back together and holy shit! Sent my s15 ball bearing turbo to billet a while back and they installed a billet wheel on it, super happy with it, could not be happier. I would recommend pure turbos to anyone looking for more power with stock turbo appearance.

Thank you pure turbo team!
