I need help. I have searched all over the Internet but no luck. Found a thread on a similar issue but no one had an answer on that forum. For a while mY hatch didn't have a bulb in the trunk area. I recently put an led bulb and I noticed that it stayed on when I shut the trunk lid. I tried the turning off the the current to the dome light and nothing. I thought maybe my headlight being on caused the problem but no luck. I'm sure the battery won't drain but I just don't like the fact that the light won't turn off, is there maybe like a switch in the rear that I know nothing about? I mean I took off the bulb for now but want a functioning light that turns off when I close the hatch. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Btw I'm aware of the s14 having like a switch but I looked everywhere and did not find it on my 90' hatch. Thanks

Not sure about the hatch buy my S13 coupe has a trunk light. The switch/plug is located on the driver's side, forward corner. The plug for yours may be there, tucked up somewhere if it wasn't being used but you'd still need a switch. I believe that way would also allow the trunk light to come on with the dome light switch (not sure though). If you wired directly to power then yes, it's gonna stay on all the time.

You could also use the plunger type switch that I've seen used most in alarm applications. It mounts such that when the trunk/hood is opened, the plunger lifts and completes the circuit. Seems like that would be easiest.

Yup didn't find any type of switch. I guess I'm going to have to tap into the plug wires and make the plunger type of switch like mentioned above
