so i just finished washing my car. i noticed 2 big ass cone marks on either side of my car from this weekend of drifting. argh, i tried several layers of wax and its still there. Grr, this sux. Its not like the first time i've hit cones before. Hell i'm pretty sure i've hit cones my last dozen drift/autox events i've been to. But definately the first perminant cone marks on my car that i've noticed, all the other times were just dust marks i could wash off easily. Maybe NASA was using super beefy USDM bad-ass cones that punishes you for hitting them. Or maybe its the curse of the course-worker association. I dunno. I just know that this blows.

any ideas? secret forumlas i should try :fruit:

and don't say repaint....

since my poorness dosn't allow me to go to autox/drift events or anything that has to do w/ a cone, i'll assume your problem is a orange mark left on your car from the cone plastic?

Go w/ something mild first, like a bug/tar remover for car's paint, or some kind of a cleaner, like Mguire's Step 1 cleaner, and rub it in really well. See if that does the job.

If it dosn't, do something a little more drastic, such as compound stuff, like 3m's cleaner for pain, use a buffer and try to buff it out.

If that dosn't work, sand use some abbrasives, like 2000 grid sand paper and wet sand it carefully, and be sure to wax the spot well after you sand paper treat it.

If that dosn't work, drive you car off a cliff :rl:

3M makes some tar remover stuff (can't remember the name, but I think it's in a black or dark colored tin container) that removed tire marks from the side of my car (blow out...don't ask) and the adhesive residue stuff left from the black "style" stripe on the S13's.

Did you try using a clay bar to remove it?

wax won't remove anything from paint.. it'll only cover it. use some sort of polish or glaze. clay bar may also do the trick.

haha, thanks for the info, unfortunately i'm not in the in crowd. So don't know anything about any track events, private or not. the speedtrials website doesn't give much info really.

i've actually been thinking about doing some ST events just to grip. anyways.

i'll try my clay bar, hope that works. One of the marks doesn't look like residue, more like scratches to the paint :-/

haha, what the hell? excuses what excuses? the fact that i can't find track events and no one lets me know about their private ones? thats not an excuse, i browse mutliple forums daily HOPING to see a post on a track event. I don't know truenocoupe, and i haven't seen an ad/post for one of his events. Just because you know about them doesn't mean everyone else does. But i will ask him about it now that i know he has them.

Touge and streets aren't the track. Its different for me. I the short version of it is that i'm afraid.

i know you mean well Aaron. but you should also know i take every opportunity presented to go out and do things in my car.

Brasso. Sounds crazy, but works. And, despite my board name, I've hit enough to know.

Cone marks...psshhhh

A cone put a 3" deep, 6"x12" dent in my rear lower quarter panel. Sucky.
