i've searched and have found that in most cases the grit you need to start at/end with varies with most wheels and the bling factor you want on your lip. so i've been working on my junkyard wheels and messed up and did the whole wheel in an 80 grit. then i decided, since i'm painting the inside spokes of the wheel i will leave them like that so primer has a rough surface to stick to, but the lip really needed attention if it was gonna polish again. so i used heavy steel wool, and it did miracles. my main question is now though, how does that translate to grit? what grit should i use next or should i just use light wool then mothers mag polish? and how many layers of paint do i put on to keep these suckers holding up? what kind of paint do you guys use, and what kind of primer. those questions were never specifically answered in other posts so i thought i'd ask. thanks for any advice as always.

pics are from start to finish btw.

as far as the steel wool goes i dont know what grit that will equal to, but just go ahead and sand it down with some 800 since it looks smooth already take some time with the 800 and then a little 1500 hope that helps

yes it does sir, i'm gonna try it tommorrow. although i dunno if i'm gonna do my rears. i measured the offsets the ruler way as exact as i possibly could. i have 16x8 +12 fronts and 16x9 -6 rears :O no way my rears are gonna fit but i dunno, we'll see.

what method did u use to sand between those studs. I can easily get to my outer lip of the wheels but b/n the studs a bitch.
