View Full Version : Running 9" Wheels on S13

I am interested in running some 9" wheels on an s13. I would like some input concerning fitment and tire size. The offset of the wheels will be either 25 or 30. I would like to run a 225/45 or 235/45 all the way around. This will be for a mostly street car as I am in college. How much camber would I have to run? Will I need to roll my fenders? Finally can anyone tell me if these tire sizes would be safe for interstate speeds as I know they will stretch a little bit. Jed

I honestly don't think anyone has done this before or would want too. All I can say is good luck.

if you mean just rears i'm running 17x9.5 +30 with 245 tires and all i did was roll the fender lips. up front i run 17x8.5 +25 with 225 tires and it's a tight fit even with some camber thrown in. i'm sure it could be done though, with enough camber/fender rolling at least.

19" wheel with 45 series tire... this thing must be lifted off the frame like dousan's sig!

actually he probably does mean 9" wide.

haha i honestly don't think you know what he's talking about. 9 inch wide wheel is not uncommon for 240s.

What kind of suspension do you have? I don't think a +25 would clear coilovers up front, it'd be fine in the rear though.
Run a 225/45 for the extra fender clearance. Even so, you'll still need to roll your fenders. Camber would probably be -2 degrees or more in the front, the rears would require more than the front...
The tires will be fine for interstate speeds. I also have 8.5 +25 F and 9.5 +30 rear, but with 215/45 and 235/40 respectively, and drive the crappy California freeways daily.

+25 fits a-ok on front coilovers (except maybe zeal)

Duffman, I think I recall Lindsay running a 5mm spacer on the front gtr wheels to clear his JICs. Thanks for the info guys. Dousan your and Lindsay's cars are the hotness.

Whoa people know me by my girl nameness. Yeah +25 will clear JICs and Tein (depends on the position of the top bolt on the front bracket. Stupid tein has a slotted top hole...) +30 will clear Apex. -45 MIGHT clear Zeal.

6" +54 or lower
6.5" +45 or lower
7" +40 or lower
7.5" +34 or lower
8" +30 or lower
8.5" +24 or lower
9" +20 or lower

I think that was an old post on Freshalloy, and since search is down over there, I dont remember who made it or which coilovers it pertained to but I have found it to be pretty consistant with my experiences with HE's.

I know that +25 barely clears JIC with 9 inch wheels. HE's clearance is worse than JIC due to bracket design, so it depends what coilovers.

Actually Tein clearance is better than JIC. Bracket is slightly bigger (but of worse design strength wise imo not that any lower brackets are known to snap so its really a moot point). The shittiest part of Tein brackets is the slotted uppper hole (for more camber adjustment... like stock). What sucks is every time you take off that upper bolt, the camber will change. Sucky. And the clearance dwindles if you use that slot to add negative camber cause it will pull the top of the wheel in close to the strut.

That's why everybody should be running around with N1 PRO. Best bracket EVAR!!! Kinda sad that I'm running around on steelies but I double checked how much space I have and it's a nice 2 finger gap.

I dont know how you get that much clearance from HE's unless you use an ecentric bolt. And I agree, the sloted bolt is a bad design.

tein HE has quite a bit of clearance if you set it up right
i HATE the slot! im gonig to get rid of it (home depot SPL) shortly..
anyways,..yes n1 pro we know..dont rub it in (asshole)
