OK Everybody. I've always been frustrated that the amount of quality information available for different tires is dismal at best. Whenever I go tire shopping I end up clicking through all sorts of tire websites and additionally, manufacturer's websites trying to sift through all the information to come up with a decent decision. Most online reviews are written by people who have just received a new set of tires and are happy with the price or the shipping speed but they are rarely based on actual experience. And tire manufacturers seem to brag about all aspects of their tires no matter what the actual quality is.
So, enough! We need to see some reviews from people who actually drive their cars and care enough about the community to let us know what their experiences have been.
Rules:
-Do not post a review unless you have sufficient experience with a certain tire.
-If you have a question about a certain tire, search the thread, then ask it here. Please do not ask general questions looking for people to do all the leg work for you during your tire selection process.
-If you happen to know of a place to purchase tires online that you have found to provide superior value and service, you may post that here.
-And finally, DO NOT SPECULATE ABOUT TIRE PERFORMANCE ("my friend's cousin had these and they were sweet") OR ANSWER QUESTIONS WITH LINES FROM THE MANUFACTURER'S WEBSITE. REAL REVIEWS ONLY!
To post a review, you will need to provide the following information:
-Tire Manufacturer & Model
-Tire size
-What car they were used on
-Any notable suspension settings or alignment issues (especially in the case of premature failure)
-Where the tires were purchased from (Optional)
-Size wheel they were mounted on (Optional)
-Miles driven on the tires so far
-Type of driving or competition (If more than one, use percentages. ie 75% Street Driving, 25% Time attack)
-Your honest review about the performance of the tires, the longevity of the tires, and the value. Feel free to compare them to other sets that you have owned or to add pictures of them after use.
Thanks in advance to everyone who is able to contribute.

bridgestone potenza runflats.
dont remember size
96 240sx
slight camber due to coilovers
100% street driving
i just want to say 'thank goodness for runflats.'
i had a blow out on the I5 north driving from SD to LA (posted speed 65.) the blowout was my own fault, the insides of my rear tires were bald due to slight camber from coilovers and in hindsight shouldve been replaced sooner than later.
i was cruising with traffic which tends to go faster than 65.
i heard a very loud pop and automatically knew what it was. the car did not lose control in the slighest and i barely noticed a height change. i was able to pull over and swap out the blown tire with my spare and then limp home.
so, +1 for the effectiveness of Run Flats during a blow out.

I think OP was looking for performance reviews and said specifically that reviews like your are what he doesnt want...... A review of something that has NOTHING to do with the tires.

-Tire Manufacturer & Model: BFGOODRICH G-FORCE T/A DRAG RADIAL
-Tire size: 205/50/15
-What car they were used on : 1993 Nissan 240sx and 1989 Nissan 240sx 2JZGTE Automatic.
-Any notable suspension settings or alignment issues (especially in the case of premature failure):Close to stock alignment on all 4 corners.
-Where the tires were purchased from (Optional): Summit Racing
-Size wheel they were mounted on (Optional): 15x7 0 Offset
-Miles driven on the tires so far: 4500 (first set) 1000 (second set)
-Type of driving or competition (If more than one, use percentages. ie 75% Street Driving, 25% Time attack) Street, Hwy pulls, stop light fun.
-Your honest review about the performance of the tires, the longevity of the tires, and the value. Feel free to compare them to other sets that you have owned or to add pictures of them after use: The tires are great for those looking for good traction without going with a serious drag radial like a Mickey Thompson. They wear pretty reasonably for a drag radial. at 400whp and 360TQ (through an auto) the tires would hold fine from 10mph rolls unless it was cold outside Sub 40 degrees. These tires would have lasted atleast 5000 more miles if i would have had the fenders rollled as when the suspension compressed the fender would rub the tire, and i didn't want to effect safety so i got a new set. Also the camber was off on 1 wheel causing it to wear much faster than the other tire. Had these in the rain a few times, and as long as you had your head removed from your ass and drove like a sensible human they were fine.

Nope, his review was fine. It doesn't have to be strictly about performance. In this case, his runflat tires probably prevented an accident. Having a blowout at 65 mph is a pretty big deal.
The only stipulation is that you have enough real world experience with the tires that you are discussing to provide us with a better understanding of them than we can get from reading the manufacturer's descriptions.

Thank you for your opinion. I do not own any run-flat tires so I will allow anyone who does to share their experience with you and then you will have your answer.
Although, I would presume that people who have had bad experiences with other tires may. Or people who want extra peace of mind while transporting their family in a metal box loaded with flammable liquid at speeds over 50 mph.

-Tire Manufacturer & Model: Dunlop Star Specs
-Tire size: 225/40-18
-What car they were used on: S14
-Any notable suspension settings or alignment issues (especially in the case of premature failure): Toe could be better since I just made sure they're parallel with measuring tape
-Where the tires were purchased from: TireRack cuz they're fucking awesome
-Size wheel they were mounted on: 18x10 +18 (fronts only)
-Miles driven on the tires so far: No clue
-Type of driving or competition: Drift/Grip and Daily, I've been driving on these for over a year and survived 2 driftwater events and have been flipped once already.
-Your honest review about the performance of the tires, the longevity of the tires, and the value: I absolutely love these tires. I think for the price, they are some of the best bang for the buck when it comes to grippy front tires. They're great in the dry and they are probably one of the best tires in the wet. I've used nothing but these tires for my fronts in the last 5 years...thats how much I like these tires.

-Tire Manufacturer & Model: Nitto NT-05s
-Tire size: 245/35-19s
-What car they were used on: S14 rears
-Any notable suspension settings or alignment issues (especially in the case of premature failure): Probably needed an alignment
-Where the tires were purchased from: Discount tire direct, just cuz of free shipping
-Size wheel they were mounted on: 19x10 -4
-Miles driven on the tires so far: No clue
-Type of driving or competition: Daily and touge/grip
-Your honest review about the performance of the tires, the longevity of the tires, and the value: I tried these tires about 3-4 yrs ago since there were no other sticky tires for 19s. I was running staggered 18/19 and Nankangs sucked. These tires great in the dry and okay in the rain for summer tires. I wouldnt push them hard in the wet but they're good enough to daily on. My gripes with it is the shallow thread depth. After 4-5 months, I was already on the wear bars. Even tho the threads were nearly gone, they were still sticky once warmed up. Once they got old and hard, they started slipping alot.

-Tire Manufacturer & Model: Nitto NT-01 (R-compounds
-Tire size: 255/40-17
-What car they were used on: S14 all around
-Any notable suspension settings or alignment issues (especially in the case of premature failure): Probably needed an alignment
-Where the tires were purchased from: Discount tire direct, just cuz of free shipping
-Size wheel they were mounted on: 17x9 +22
-Miles driven on the tires so far: No clue
-Type of driving or competition: Daily and touge/grip
-Your honest review about the performance of the tires, the longevity of the tires, and the value: These tires are some of the cheapest R-compound tires you can find in the market. They are not DOT approved so they are track only tires. I daily'd them for a bit since I got lazy changing wheels and actually went touge with them for a while. They're not sketchy in the wet but I definitely tried not to drive far on them when its wet (my work was less than 1 mile away). Just like the NT-05s, thread depth are shallow but thats not a really a big deal since they're R-comps. You can actually get them shaved down and actually get them in as slicks. They lasted a good year on my car. I killed these tires after drifting on them...

Not as good as a front tire compared to the RT-615. Very greasy when hot, HORRIBLE in the wet.

Decent tire while its there, but the center tread peels off if you get them to hot, pricy.

-Size wheel they were mounted on (Optional) 17x9+22
-Miles driven on the tires so far not calculated, driven over a year and still good threadwear

-Your honest review about the performance of the tires, the longevity of the tires, and the value. Feel free to compare them to other sets that you have owned or to add pictures of them after use. Surprisingly the tires lasted so long and has good even wear due to my "track" alignment. Really greasy when hot at the track, but instant grip though. Best bang for buck.
