Which one should i get the custom exhaust would probably cost me around $150-200 around here the only concern is the sound of it. Has anyone had any good experiences with their custom exhaust?

From my experience, you'll get what you paid for. Put crush/mandrel bent, type of resonator, material, the fabricator, and muffler into consideration. I've seen some custom setup that sound and look beautiful ($$$), and I've seen setups that sounds worse than shit. Personally I would just skip all the funk and buy an aftermarket, good luck.

Unless I could get a nice mandrel bent, factory hanger, bolt together, with resonator, Stainless Steel catback exhaust, I'd just buy an aftermarket one.

check out brmusa.com, the guy is a member on nissaninfiniticlub.net and has exhausts for the 240sx that are deep sounding/non-ricey.
also, you can add a resonator in your size of choice for a little more $, his username on nico forums is azhitman i believe.

piping is generally not goin to change... brand name doenst matter... as long as its straight and kink free, you're fine.
Muffler wise, they all have perferated cores surrounded by fiber-glass... simple as that... i laugh at people that try and defend their $1000 exhausts, because i personally know i can make something just ask good with a few mandrel U-bends and a nice made in china muffler. Ill argue that one to the grave.

would a muffler shop be able to make a greddy DD style or buddy club style exhaust?

there are very few muffler shops i've heard of that can do mandrel bends. Most all shops just crush bend.

I had to drive 3 hours to get my custom 3" mandrel bent exhaust. one piece with a magnaflow 5" x 7" oval. I love the way it sounds. deep tone, no rattles, looks very low key, and had great performance benefits. It was the price of a cheap after market exhaust but with a 3" high flow cat.

I'd like to know this one too....I don't see why they couldn't though, just buy a single inlet, dual outlet muffler put the muff where the stock resonator is(isn't that where the GReddy/Trust muffler is?) and run two pipes back....

that's what i was thinking of, but just gotta find a place that can do mandrel bends. could be more expensive though.

This is a bit off the topic, but I'll be selling my stainless 3" ebay exhaust sytem soon for cheap so it will be a good way to cut off the piping and add your own muffler. Shops can weld one on for $35 bucks.

I have access to a mandrel bender that will do up to 2.5inch pipe, what are some recommendations for mufflers? Straight through, deep, not pingy sounding.

Hey, just a thought...couldn't you just buy some pre-bent mandrel tubing of the desired size (2.5 or 3 in.) and weld it yourself? This is assuming you have access to a MIG or TIG welder...But I think it would be a very fun and satisfying, not to mention inexpensive alternative to both of the previously stated options. Just buy any one of the aforementioned mufflers and weld that shait together.
mmmm...welder...sounds like a good summer purchase. :)

Thats what i was talkin about.
I buy 180degree U-bends to weld my exhausts... Keep in mind... if you want a flow efficient exhaust, you only want 2 or 3 bends on the whole thing..
I bought this muffler.... cheap and effective.. same as N1... just different name etched on the tip

better yet, get a cheap arc welder, and tack weld all your welds. then take it to the shop and let them do complete all around welds. I was quoted $5 per weld and i had about 6-7 welds that i needed. $120 for all piping+muffler, $35 for welds. That's a damn cheap exhaust.

from exp mandrel custom exhaust are just as good, the only thing is that you have to get down there w/ the muffler guys to make sure he/she* is making as straight as possible ( which he will anyways cuz his lazy ass don't wanna make more bends haha ) and with all the 40.00 eBay exhausts out there you can get a great deal and put that extra 3-400.00 onto something that you can't cheap-out on like tires/suspension/brakes etc.
with Apexi and Greddy you are paying for the name/ and the research and development
