I got a used t28 off a supposed s15 which could only mean that it had to come from an auto S15 or a s14 sr20det. (the wall divider isnt there)

anyway:

the previous owner had it externally wastegated, therefore the internal wastegate door is welded shut. should I:

Get an external wastegate?
Get a new wastegate door and use the internal gate?
Use a dremel to dremel out the weld?

I also forgot to mention that the stock actuator isnt there, but I can get one easily.

thanks in advance

four, easiest, smartest, and cheapest thing to do would be to remove that weld. i wonder how high of boost he was running? if you don't have an actuator, and plan on running 12 psi, there is a nice actuator kit made by hks @ phase2motortrend.

im worried if i remove that weld, the wastegate door wont be opening/closing properly.

worth a try at least. if worst comes to worst, you can always weld it shut again...and go for the tial.

go external... if you want to be pimp pick up one of those stainless hpi manifolds and have the wastegate flange welded on the no 4 runner really close to the merge area and then vent it out under the car very pimp will let the small turbine breath higher in rpms and much more consistant boost levels...

classifieds, ebay, etc, or you can invest in a good one and pick up a tial for about 200 or so. I would say this is worth it, the tial 38 mm will be sufficent for needs up to 400whp range...
