HELP energy Supension bushings INSTALL!!!

so NO write up are the same all have conflicting answers and none give you ANY answers.... WTF do i do. I have cups in each spot where bushings go. i cant knock them out. idk WTF to do. how the FUCKING SHIT do I make these bushings fit? wtf do i take out why do the directions give you NO answers????

btw its a 1998 S14

a lot of times after you burn/press the old bushing out, there is an inner metal sleeve that has to be cut out before you can put the new bushings in. best way is to take a hack saw blade off a hack saw and cut through it by hand. cut in at least 3 different spots. then take a socket that is the same size as the inner ring and hammer the crap out of it.

the front bushings that are closest to front of car on the rear subframe.... the inner rings on the top (not the bottom one that you cant fuck up or subframe is trash basically) I hammer at them with a chizzel and hammer and they bend but wont come out its like they are fucking melded with the cup of subframe...

in this vid the guy says that the rear doesn't have the sleeves but the front does. prolly what you're talking about. jump to 4:45
so what i got from this is that you leave the collars in on s13's, but you have to cut them out on s14's. fckin nissan bs

the second vid was a s14 subframe. you have to cut and chisel the collars out. they are only on the front.
the easiest way to do it is get a hacksaw and do what the guy in this video does:

I'm gonna go outside and take some pics and burn out the back bushings just to knock them outta the way... I also gotta take out my gas tank have a leak and gonna seal it up with this gas take sealer kit i bought from auto zone bought 2 kits acutally lmao im gonna fill this fucker good!

it wasn't easy, burnt mine out too then had to remove the inner collars with a air hammer. wouldnt have came out without it.

^^^ thats diff bushings mine are the front bushings on the subframe... I just finished the rears... lmao using sawzaw at 1am neighbors gotta be pissed... then i burned the bushings out of rears and they are ready to go test fitted and all such a breeze. gonna do fronts tomorrow just gotta get those clips they are a CUNT!

I was able to get mine out without any fire. I don't remember how I did it though. I do remember sawing through the ring like was shown in the s14 video but I got the rubber out somewhat cleanly.

for there to be no mess sounds like he deff used a press.

I just used a reciprocating saw and cut out the big chunk of rubber in the middle, then turn the blade sideways and cut away the rubber against the metal sleeve..

Then just make a cut in the sleeve down to the sub frame.

Hammer + big screwdriver or chisel: Fold the sleeve inward until the tension gives and the sleeve pops out.

I found that burning the bushings just makes a lot of smoke, smells bad, and makes the neighbors wonder why i'm setting my car on fire :p

Cut 2 reliefs and they will come out. I just did mine. Get over the frustration and think about how they should come out. Believe me, I wanted to quit too lol

the best way i found is to burn them out, then use a sawzall to cut a slit in the inner sleeve(carefully), then use an air-chisel to shoot them out, and to put the new ones in i just used the 130$ press from harbor freight. hope that helps

no press is needed. save yourself 130$. just put a lil grease on the outside as it states on the instructions and they slide right in.

ya you dont really need the press i had it already and also was putting in solid subframe bushings which did not go in easy even with the press

If your still looking for a good guide, look for project car last magazine they changed up all the bushings. It's a really good guide and magazine.

I keep seeing 2 diff words. 1 says you take the cups out on the S14's and others say you need the cups in there for the ES bushings.

There are 4 sleeves total that need to be taken out. The top 2 which is the pic I posted previously and 2 bottom sleeves. You can hit them out by heating up the outside and with some sort of chisel, hit betweent the lil fin looking things from te bottom.

the best way is NOT to burn them out unless you want to weaken the integrity of your subframe. weather or not you need to remove the outer race on the bearing depends on if you have full replacement bushings (nismo) or not (ES).

What? Melting rubber does NOT have enough energy to weaken or distort your subframe. Hands down, the best way to remove them is with FIRE! Then use regular old man power to finish the job.
