why is it when a civic puts on badges that aren't meant for them we call them rice cars....ie..civic type r, integra type r, etc...
we don't really consider them to have any type of power behind the badge.
but when a 240sx puts a silvia or gtr badge on it it looks cool :tweak:
even with drifting stickers...no not those option stickers those are alright, but those stickers that say "i love drifting"...i know they are marketed by pacific rim as being "official sticker of drifting"
if it's backed up by an sr or rb then it's fine.. but WHY???....our car is 240SX..not a silvia...perhaps part of it is, but does that warrant a badge to indicate that 5-10% is shared or similar????
my car is a stock 240SX..no stickers...i don't even call my car a "silvia" even if people ask "wow...so do you have a sr20 in your silvia", no..my car is a 240sx.
anyhow....some rambling of mine, i saw a 240sx with all those things with little rice boys oogling over it...it's so freaking :ghey:
btw...i saw a del sol with s15 lights molded into his front bumper...nasty as hell....guess what...he had a silvia badge...go fig...

How about this: Who cares?
When you see one, just smile. If someone asks, just smile.

why can you badge a 240sx as a silvia and have people think you have an sr or rb,
yet you can't badge a civic as a type r without being called rice?
i remember reading a post on another website about a car show in which there was a "REAL" type R integra, and yet everyone kept saying it's just a conversion. the guy who owned the car had the paperwork taped to his car window.

it grows into having more people asking instead...i wouldn't care much it just bugs me about it.

when a 240sx puts a... gtr badge on it it looks cool :tweak:
Since when has putting a GTR badge on a 240 been cool? Thats just retarded.
perhaps part of it is, but does that warrant a badge to indicate that 5-10% is shared or similar????
Its a little more then a 5-10% similarity.
my car is a stock 240SX..no stickers...i don't even call my car a "silvia" even if people ask "wow...so do you have a sr20 in your silvia", no..my car is a 240sx.
Good, you dont like stickers, some people do. If someone wants to say that their car is a Silvia, thats fine, I still know what it is. Its like the guy in the 4-door Interga LS with the Type R badges on it. Everyone (well, everyone who know a little about import automobiles) knows its not a Type R, but the kid still does it. Why? Because he is trying to fit an image. I say let him, I still what the car is, and it gives me something to laugh about.
And as for the kid looking at the 240sx w/ the Silvia badging, I say let all the rice fan bois oogle over it, makes my cars feel special too. :coold:

My car is powered by stickers!!! I love stickers, so what, if you dont like them just look away. If i put one on your car then you can sock me in the mouth, but until then i will keep the sticker horsepower coming!!!

1) silvia is an alternate name of the chasis of our car. where as integra type r or civic type r is the highest trim of those respective car types. Another example is a 3000GT with a GTO badge, or IS with an altezza badge vs say, a regular sentra with a SER badge. Its NOT the same. 240sx with a silvia badge vs a silvia J's with a silvia K's badge.
2) not all silvias came with an SR20DET. infact, very few did, just like in the US like 90% of eclipses weren't turbo or AWD. anyway, my point is, yes, its a 240sx, but its also an S-chasis car. and there are "silvias" with less hp than 240sx, SR20 and KA24 have roughly same hp. Its NOT in the power, at least thats what i think is the main difference and you can't compare it to a type r sticker. oh, and no silvia came with an RB, so having a RB in your car makes your car no more a silvia than if you had a stock KA. Nice double standard there. hell, even if you did have an SR, its still not a silvia according to most of the hardcore people. Again, what people try doing with all the JDM aero stuff and the silvia badges is to make the car look more JDM, european car owners do that all the time, i don't think there is anything wrong with that. Type r, vtec, spec r, gtr, ser, badges makes a car look faster than what really is, engine power perception. Yes, most ignorant people think silvias are fast as fuck and all silvias are turbo. so yeah, if you have a silvia badge and someone thinks you're faster than you are, thats their problem.
3) drifting stickers: you can't look at a car with a drifting sticker and stay he's a poser or not. You don't need a silvia to drift, you don't need a SR20 to drift. So if someone says a stock 240sx with a "i love drifting" sticker is rice. go screw yourself. Do you know the owner/driver of the car? how do you know he doesn't drift or loves to drift? The only stickers i have on my car are stickers of the drift events i've been to, and one jspec one. I like to show my support for people that hold fun LEGAL events for me. I've had people say that its rice. Those people can go to hell or whichever parking lot they came from.
4) why do people care? if you cared less, and we all cared less. and a type r badge or a silvia badge is ONLY associated with decoration or a piece of plastic. the poser people wouldn't bother. I have a silvia front grill on my car, i took the badging part off after a couple months. and i just put it back on last week. why? cause i like the way it looks, when i get tired of it, it'll be off. Some guys don't like the same things night after night. Its decoration, and i think silvia is a pretty name for a hot chick... or a hot car.
anyway. the image thing is just stooopid sometimes. people think that everyone does everything because of image when its not the case all the time. I live at USC, people here don't know what a silvia is, they know only about cars that cost more than $50,000. But I like my s14, and thats all that matters. Rice is overrated and over-talked about.

pruto - good answer that does answer my question and gave me a bit of insight into this..
NerveGS - i probably should keep that in mind
aznpoopy - after seeing teeny boppers staring at a 240sx in front of where i work. they were saying "cool...he's probably got a sr in there or sumthing"...yea...sure...

heh i guess u got ur answer. its just ignorance. back in the day ppl didnt know any better about typeR and sI badges. nowadays everyone just assumes its fake (to the detriment of itR owners). so with a new popular platform u have that gaping void of ignorance once again. it'll be cool until people get educated.

Silvia looks/sounds cool and all. But I 100% agree that badging our cars as a Silvia, even if you DO have an SR20DET swap, is rice.

240sx = 2.4l KA24DE (which I no longer have)
I dont call it 240sx, but I dont go as far as calling it a silvia. I simply call it for what it truely is either way - an S14.

I only have the "Silvia" emblem because I think it looks cool and my fake gold plated "240SX" emblem was looking like shit. As for the hood emblem...same case...the big ole "NISSAN" emblem was just too tacky FOR ME. I refer to my car as a "240"...and I'm glad that most of the people I say it to do not know what the heck I'm talking about. BTW...I hate saying "240SX"...it makes the car sound fast when it really is not. :p
pruto - That was a very nice post (or essay) you've made. :)
