Hi all,

Sorry for the rude title but Im sweltering in Texas heat risking west nile virus becouse my door is locked shut!!!

I had issues with my door latch and today I ran some wd-40 into it and tryed to work the lock back and forth from the tumbler in the door. I had the door shut and I was finnaly able to lock the mechanism but now I cant get it unlocked!!!!

When I hit the unlock switch the lock mech kust makes a buzzing sound but does nothing.

The door panel is off and I have access to the rods but moving them there full rotation does nothing, I still cant get the door latch to release.

I drive an LE S14 Kouki with power locks.

HELP PLEASE!!!

Thanks again all,

P.S.
Is it possible to remove the latch with the door shut???? Atleast I have the panel off.

How would a coat hanger help if I have the panel off and I can physicaly grab the rod and make it travel its full rotation on the lock?

This is not coat hanger fix. This is a motor latch issue and I need to know how the hell to get the thing fixed with the door shut.

Thanks for trying though.

what is an lx s14? seems like common sense would have told you that if you had trouble locking it then you would probably have trouble unlocking it.
Im not really understanding your exact situation either. how are you accessing inside the door panel with the door locked shut? is it just the drivers side door or is it both of them? either way it sounds like a bad solenoid.

Yep I agree bad solenoid.

It is just the driver door.

Sorry typo its an LE.

I had opened the door took the interior panel off sprayed everything down with WD-40 to lossen things up and then shut the door and started to move the lock back and forth hoping it would stick less after the WD-40. However it locked and now it wont unlock and the door is shut with the interior panel off.

With the switch the solenoid just makes a buzzing sound if you grab the rods they move there full rotation but wont unlck the door. Now I need to figure out how to remove the solenoid and latch with the door closed.

After searching it seems this happens after the solenoid gets old and most say go to a body shop so they can cut the door up then either fix or replace the damage. Im hoping I dont have to do this!!!

If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Tried pulling the quarter panel trim and looking in to see if you can see the back side of the striker? Maybe you could drill the striker bolt out?

I've done this in my S13. Don't remember what I did to fix it though. I think a lot of desperate locking and unlocking and cursing.

Quick question was gour door sagging?...it sound like your door lock actuator is working...just your door lock mechanism is jammed...try manually pulling the rod down to unlock it...if you can't you may need a flat head screwdriver to pry the locking mechanism off the striker..then replace it...had this same problem on another car i owned...

I don't think you can get to the striker / lock with the door closed. I don't remember though, and this was for an S13.
