He then tried drilling it out while the head was in the car....he went in about 1/2" inch in.....then went slightly crooked widening one side a little bit so he gave up.
So now that I have it I took it to work and used the Drill Press with my Snapon Colbalt Drill bits. They didnt work and that only dulled them.
I tried several different bits and different sizes just to make a pilot hole.....and nothing....I might of cut into it about a millimeter. Then I broke one of my bits.
One of my coworkers was a machinist and said they must of used oil on it prior.....in which creates hardened metal.
He told me about a Machine shop in Santa Ana that uses a laser to blast out the bit....He cant remember the shop because he use them several years ago.
Do any of you know of a Machine shop that provides this service????
I live in the Inland Empire and Called Waynes in Riverside....they said no.....Then I called Southwest Engines in San Bernardino...they also dont have the Machine or know who does.....
If you do please email me the name of the shop and location.....it goes straight to my phone....

What i did was put a nut over the hole. Fill it with a mig welder. it might take a few tries but i eventually got the weld to bond to the broken stud and was able to back it out with the nut.
Hopefully i explained that ok

that`s what i would do. if you don`t have a mig welder, take it to a machine shop or welding shop.

I like the welding idea, I used a similar method the last time I bought a car and it didn't come with the keys for the wheel locks. But, if you don't have a welder you could try the methods below.
If there's any material left around the outside edge of the stud and it's not broken off too far in, you can take a center punch and angle it then tap it with a hammer so that it drives the stud counter-clockwise. I learned this from my old boss at the machine shop I used to work at and have had decent success with it.
Another idea is that if there is an existing hole like you mentioned in the center of the stud you could try an easy out, it's a square shaped looking punch that you would drive into the hole and then turn it out, it has edges to 'grab' the material that you hammer it into. Wear safety glasses since they are hardened and will shatter if they break.
Combining any of these methods with a little bit of heat from a small torch can improve your results. Try to heat the area around the stud to expand it a little and then try to spin it free.
I would say that taking it to a machine shop is a last resort. Although no matter what you do to it they should be able to at least drill it out completely and use a helicoil to repair the threads.

Thanks for the tips.....I have tried 4 different ways of getting the bolt out......
I have access to anything snapon makes.....
Now I did find in my tool cages a bolt extractor that will have you weld a stick to the back of the bolt then you weld a nut to the part that is sticking out of the hole.
The problem is its made for an ARC welder and I only have a MIG and TIG......
Tomorrow some how I will try to use one of them.....to bad I dont have a damm ARC though.....

Any machine shop should be able to do this and it cost me around ten bucks every time. Your wasting your time with all that stuff. If it's stuck bad enough to snap itself in half, chances are your not going to remove it with ease. Just take it to a machinist.

You should be able to weld it out!! I've done it before! Snap on tool and I'll remove it? Lol

I know I know it sounds so simple....Ive done this about 20 times myself.....but its not.
So I took it to my machinist and he showed me that an easyout is broken off inside....thats why it dulled my bits....
I dont have much more to go....but I have to be careful not to drill into the water jacket....
I did find somebody that can laser it out....they guarantee there work but charge minimum $65.

Yep I am thankful Im back to work and was given this box.....I stare at it in amazement sometimes.....
Well my issue is with cash....too many damm bills....but I am catching up....
So this is the 3rd head I have purchased here from ZYLVIA.....
1st one was warped .030 over and had already been shaved.....there was not enought to left to work with.
2nd was spotless with fresh machine work.....but the ass didnt tell me the water jacket was cracked on the inside the intake port....a spot that cant be welded....
3rd is what I have now.....its never been shaved....its pretty clean now that I steamed it at work....So I thought the broken stud would be easy.....notttttttttt

Idk why you can't find a machinist who can take it out but idk your area. I had the exact scenario as you and a 70+ yr old man got it out while I was there. Good luck though. I tried everything, to no avail.
