View Full Version : What stereo to get?
I look arond and cant find one I like for the price.
Im going cheap now since some mofo stole my nice $700 CD/MP3 Kenwood.
I love the MP3 players but they are all ugly. I might just get the Cheaper Kenwood MP-8017 that only like $250 Shipped.
Could anyone else reccommend anything else MP3 player or not for a CD Deck for around 200-350$. THANKS!
pioneer deh-p 7200 its only like 250 bucks and the functions are remarkable for the price and the sound quality is killer.

check into the jvc mp3 player too, it's what i have. from looking at the specs like signal to noise ratio n stuff, it's a little better than kenwood, and it has 3 outputs instead of two. well that's comparing it to the one of the same class, i dunno about that one you had, that one looked cool as #### if it's the same one i'm thinking of.
How fast is the JVC when it comes to going from track to track while listening to MP3's. My old kenwood took a few seconds between songs.

I was lookin for the exact same thing u were just about 2 or 3 months ago. After like a month of searching i settled on the Pioneer deh-P7300 (i got mine for $239 shipped). I really wanted to get an mp3 player at first but all the ones i could afford didn't have as many features as i would've liked. I finally decided on the pioneer because of its built in cross overs (high and low pass), 3d display (got tired of it after a week, but it still impresses people who ride with me), and because it gives u a lot of control. I wasn't goin for a competition setup or anythin though, this pioneer just had everything i wanted and it was #### cheap.

whatever u get, just be wise on how much u spend. in the end, someone could just break a window and yoink it, no matter how many alarms u get.
of course u could get 3/8" Lexan, but then i'd have to bring my DeWalt 24V Cordless Sawzall......
nakamichi makes great decks and i saw one for 199.99 somewhere but i cantr find it now, i tried...
plus they are one of the best audio companies in the world...
i only bought my JVC because it was cheap and i had a remote for it...
when i buy a deck for real, it will be either clarion pro-audio, Fosgate, nak, or better.
i figure sony, pioneer, JVC, and all other domestics are just for playing around...

This (http://www.simplycheap.com/soncdcdrecwa.html) is the one I have, just the older model with 50 instead of 52 watts. Its pretty nice, lots of features, good quality. But I wouldn't recommend it for the 240, it looks kinda weird.

imho, I go for pio when buying a mixer. As far as car audio goes, alpine all the way <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
I do like blaupunkt (have one right now) but they just don't fit well.

here is the jvc mp3 player me and gregshin were talking about <a href="http://store.yahoo.com/simplycheap/jvckdcdrecwi.html" target='_blank'>http://store.yahoo.com/simplycheap/jvckdcdrecwi.html</a>
if you want to buy the kenwood mp3, <a href="http://mmxpress.com" target='_blank'>http://mmxpress.com</a> has them on sale like 240 i think. that sucks, even though i like the JVC more, one week after i get mine, the kenwood which i still really like is $60 less
id still stick with pioneer right now.... until the MP3 technology gets really good or pioneer comes out with MP3 cd players which i beleive they may have

Hmm, Rockford Fosgate also makes an MP3 Player, I'll check some prices for you tomorrow Mark.
After having gone thru 6-7 cd players, I've concluded this:
well if u want simplicity and sound quality at its best, go Nakamichi,
if u want the flashiest shit out there, get pioneer with OEL. If u want some good looks and great sound, go eclipse, which is what I'm planning to get now.
If you want decent quality, a lil flashy, and detachable face, Alpine is a good choice.
CD Players I've owned:
On my old car:
Pioneer DEH-P6000
Alpine CDA-7864
Eclipse 55430
On the 240sx:
Pioneer Premier DEH-P900R
Alpine 7863
Kenwood KDC-3011 (loaner)
Nakamichi CD-45z
My current setup:
Pioneer DEH-P3100
w/Pioneer DEQ-7200
by the way this is for sale, because I plan to get the eclipse (going to get a good hookup )

well, i have the sony mp3 player, and i have no complaints. i always have it on random, so i dont really know how fast it goes to the next track, but random takes about 3 seconds per song.
anyways, if you wait til march, toss me some $$$ and i'll get you one with a built in 40GB HD from japan. i cant wait.... mmm.... 40GB HD....

has anyone seen the website where every car on there has actual computers in their cars? they have it integrated (actual monitor) in there dash and hard drives in the trunk to store all their mp3s. they said the benifit was to have the visulization and flexibility of a computer in their car. i'll stick with an in dash mp3 player and just carry around 15 cd's with 11 hours of music each

west, i have had nothing but bad luck with kenwood! i would highly reccomend something else. i honestly don't know which other brand is better but stay away from kenwood. i've had 2 different changers in the shop multiple times. i've had my latest changer in the shop twice for different problems and i bought it brand new in may.

well id say get the jvc kdsh99.. ive had it since it first came out injk, march.. and the deck has performed flawlessly for me.. its only skipped on me like maybe 3 times total.. and reads the mp3s in about 1.5 to 2 seconds.. the preset eqs are great and you can customize your own settings pretty well also.. also the remote works great and very easy to use..
