Hey there,
New to the forum. Before I say anything I have searched, and I just tried to use the search function, but a white blank page keeps coming up and wont go anywhere from there.
I just took in my car for a insurance inspection, and it failed due to both outer rods (rear) and tie rod ends. Now I am not really to sure if the guy was just saying tie rod ends are bad or tie rods are as well. I am having a tough time sourcing a set of rear outer tie rods for my s13. Now I do have the hicas system, don't believe it works though.. I am wondering if i get the hicas eliminator kit, will that solve my tie rod issue and get two birds stoned at once with also getting rid of hicas? Not to sure what to do?
Now if this is posted somewhere on zilvia and I just cant see it due to the search error, just say that its on here, and I will end this thread.
Thank you!

The host for this forum sucks and they haven't fixed the search function. But if you need to search for something, type in what you want in Google and type Zilvia next to it. It'll narrow it's search sort of like the server's search function.

And no. Swap in a new subframe or get a lockout kit. I would go with the subframe all together but it's up to you.

The outer tie rod is actually pressed in the knuckle and they go for about 80$ at the dealer.(I have the part # for it if you need it).
I've been in your shoes before and it was a better idea to swap to a non-hicas subframe, buy rear toe rods (to replace the tie rods) and get regular knuckle bushings to replace the "hicas ball joint" in there. You should also get some new subframe bushings if you take this route, you'll prob have to do it at some point.
Or you can get the eliminator kit for SPL/Driftworks

Hey, Thanks for the responses guys! I am just looking to get this car road worthy for the time being, and I am looking at going the cheapest way possible for now. (Getting winter beater and this will be stored). So will the outer tie rod from dealer just be cheapest bet for right now? And thanks for the search tip! I was wondering why when i searched something, google wasnt displaying alot of zilvia results... My bad. :picardfp:
And will I have to get it pressed back into the knuckle by a shop? Im looking to do the repairs by myself, to learn and save $$$.
Thanks!

Cheapest: non-hicas subframe, toe rods, either 2 bushings (1 each side to replace the joint in the knuckles, 20$ish at the dealer) or 2 non-hicas knuckles.
if there's a 240 at a junkyard near you, this whole swap would be under 100$
and yes, the hicas joints have to be pressed in and out. 80$ per joint
